They lived their faith and they shared their faith, and today we remember their faith. May we have the same faith to know and serve our Lord.

Have a blessed day!

Remember, on TV, the Flying Nun?
Well this saint has that nun outdone,
Joseph of Cupertino’s the man,
A humble, Capuchin Franciscan,
And what makes this saint’s life so great?
We’re told that he could levitate!
Without any wires or Hollywood tricks,
Our saint of the day for post 106.

I watch the Flying Nun most weekends, I really would like to see St Joseph of Cupertino instead. Still, with faith we believe.

Have a blessed day!

The Bishop and Martyr, Januarius,
Whose relics are still quite miraculous,
Years since Diocletian sent him to his fate,
This saint’s blood continues to uncoagulate,
A sign that he surely must now be in Heaven,
Our saint of the day for this post 107.

An Eucharistic miracle. It truly is the Body and Blood of Christ.

Have a blessed day.

Nearly a year after my parish started worshiping in our renovated church, we finally had our Dedication Mass last night.

The long wait was due to the fact that we had been without a bishop. We started using the renovated space for Mass last October, and around that same time, our disgraced former bishop resigned.

Our new bishop was installed less than a month ago, and he led the dedication Mass.

The saint we now will get acquainted,
His entire family has also been sainted,
In Belgium, Saint Vincent Madelgaire,
Founded two Benedictine abbeys there,
His holy wife, Saint Waldetrude,
Became a nun in solitude,
Their four children are also prized,
Because they too were canonized,
A most remarkable bloodline,
Our saint today for post 109.

Impressive bloodline indeed! We should pray to meet them all in heaven.

Have a blessed day.

Then as now, taxes make folks complain,
And tax collectors earn special disdain,
But Jesus, who makes all things new,
Chose the tax man, Saint Matthew,
As Apostle and Evangelist,
And from his sinful ways desist,
To show us all the better way,
My 110th post and our saint of the day.

A wonderful poem about a wonderful man, who is an example of conversion as the path to eternal salvation.

God bless!

The Saturday morning mass is the only extra Mass I attend. I did the readings yesterday and our priest gave a lovely homily. Thanks for the reminder of St Matthew.

One of my favorite scenes from this movie – Matthew makes his choice.

Saint Thomas of Villanova became,
Archbishop of Valencia, and he holds the claim,
Of sending the first friars from his Augustinian Order,
To America, to evangelize at the Panama border,
In Spain, he eschewed all pomp and grandeur,
To be known to his flock as the Father of the Poor,
And this was way back in 1547,
He’s our saint of the day for post 111.

I admire the missionaries, who had such great faith that they walked the walked. Your poem captures this so well.

Have a blessed day!

No likes left. Have some broccoli – I remember how much you enjoy it. 😈

Great miracles set this saint apart,
For one thing, he could read your heart,
And many people did relate,
That he was known to bilocate,
His stigmata, as though by sword,
Gave him the wounds of Christ our Lord,
And so by now I’m sure you know,
I’m talking about Saint Padre Pio,
Who followed the Franciscan way,
Our saint for my 112th poem today.

So many great things about Saint Padre Pio, and you captured some wonderful things we all should ponder.

God bless!
