Good thinking !Once again I’m determined to grow sunflowers…and they are up! :).
Until the real heat comes it feels like anything can grow .

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
Not a great photo as I was in a hurry to somewhere.

Thankyou!

That’s lovely! I brings back memories from decades ago. We must have driven through there, or a similar part of the country.

In the 70’s we had a holiday in Adelaide, from Canberra, driving to it across the Hay Plain, and back via Stawell.

I guess it’s all going to make sunflower oil soon.

:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

(and the photo turned out fine!)

From her childhood, quite precocious,
Till her death from tuberculosis,
Saint Therese, the Little Flower,
In her small way showed Love’s power,
She became a Carmelite nun,
By 24, her life was done,
From the Little Way she shared,
To Doctor of the Church declared,
Many souls for Christ she’s won,
Our saint today for post 121.

She continues to show the power of love to this very day. Let those who know us think about God’s love when they think about us.

Have a blessed day!

This Doctor is my Patron Saint,
And holy as she is I ain’t,
So I am asking for gifts of flowers,
And chocolate chips to fall in showers.
If God says no to both of these,
I’ll offer it up like my dear Therese.

😃 I did it! I wrote my own Saint poem! 😄👍

I’ll go ahead and leave the rest of them to you, @christofirst. Yours tend to be a tad bit more spiritual than mine… apparently. 😂

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom God’s love commits me here,
Ever this day be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide.
This poem and prayer I often say,
Is already written for me today,
Leaving me little to actually do,
To ready this post number 122,
I thank my angel most gratefully,
For all these years watching over me.

As Jesus stated in Matthew 18:10, “See that you despise not one of these little ones [children]: for I say to you, that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.” Saint Jerome (our Saint of the Day on Monday) noted in his commentary “How great the dignity of the soul, since each one has from his birth an angel commissioned to guard it. ”. Thank you God for loving me so much to have an Angel to guide me and to protect me on my salvation journey.

Have a blessed day!

I have a deep devotion to our guardian angels. Your poem is absolutely beautiful, Chris. Those last two lines brought tears to my eyes. 😊

From worldly cares, he hoped to free us,
Today we honor Saint Hesychius,
Who went to the Sinai desert to stay,
To focus on God, to fast and pray,
He taught the way of watchfulness,
To be at peace, and not aggress,
For him, dispassion was the key,
Our saint of the day for post 123.

There are certainly times when the monastic life seems very appealing. Our challenge is to find God wherever we are at.

Have a blessed day!

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but … the feast day of my namesake, St. Edward the Confessor, is coming up in 10 days (October 13). I’m looking forward to your poem for him. 🙂

When I started reading your comment I was wondering about a Saint Mr. Zoom. 😊 Thanks for clarifying.

I looked ahead, and saw that I did write a poem for St. Edward the Confessor. Whether it’s any good or not remains to be seen. But for today, it’s St. Francis!

On a list of favorite saints it’s easy,
To find Saint Francis of Assisi,
Who, giving up a life of ease,
And serving others, found true peace,
He gave so many joy and hope,
He’s the namesake of our current pope,
With love for nature and the poor,
He’s today’s saint for post 124.

He took the Gospels as the rule of his life, and Jesus Christ as his literal example. What a great choice! May we choose as well.

Have a blessed day!

The saint today whom we extol,
Wrote Divine Mercy In My Soul,
Saint Faustina heard Christ say,
Words to keep our fear at bay,
God will judge us from above,
But with Mercy, since He’s Love,
Thoughts to keep our hope alive,
In this post number125.

God is indeed mercy, he is full of mercy, as Saint Faustina shares with us. Let us pray to Him with confidence, knowing that he wants us to be with Him.

Have a blessed day!

Not satisfied with the status quo,
Today we honor Saint Bruno,
Monks had gone lax in his day,
So he founded the Carthusian way,
Of seclusion and austerity,
As vocations go, that’s a rarity,
A special calling, as God so picks,
Today’s saint for post 126.

Prior to becoming a monk he taught theology, and one of his students later became Pope. Let us hope that we can lead someone towards the Priesthood, for they are sorely needed.

Have a blessed day!
