The Sermon on the Mount
It is not a requirement to read a news article to become involved in a thread. Then why are you commenting on this thread?
Btw, your info seems to be quite dated. The bunker thing was Friday. Are you intentionally posting random comments here??
The church has been around for 2000 years and seen many political parties, ideologies, and regimes come and go. There have always been Catholics of all political stripes. While some issues, like abortion, are irreconcilable, a lot of stuff is up for debate. Please don’t take any offense, but how can one be liberal and Catholic?
How does it do this?BLM is a counter productive movement that provokes and deepens racializing thinking and ‘us versus them’ combat paradigms (and thereby deepens race based divisions), instead of contributing to the cause of helping people move past race based divisions and recognize ourselves as all members of one family.
I’m not blaming BLM for the riots per se. There are always going to be opportunists who see protests as an opportunity to run wild and steal stuff. What I blame BLM (and blame is the wrong word) is that they try to hook people with the very real concern about police use of force and then sneak in a laundry list of unrelated, radical proposals.Exactly this!
“What do you mean you dont think rioting is good? You must want more black people to die”
There’s a lot in the Republican party, particularly libertarianism, that IMO does not line up with catholic social doctrine. I think the only compatible position is to be tethered to neither party,All this to say, the church is not an extension of the Republican Party.
So what’s the problem with Black lives matter? All lives matter, from womb to the tomb I would think would be the Catholic view.
It isn’t white-centric. And in the USA, everything must be white-centric, preferably whites from northern Europe and the British Isles. Some other “western” Europeans excepted as long as they don’t look too “ethnic”So what’s the problem with Black lives matter?
Assuming everyone who disagrees with you is motivated by animus toward brown people is just profoundly intellectually lazy.It isn’t white-centric. Because I’m pushing back on the implication that people who aren’t fans of BLM are just afraid of or dislike non-white people. This seems pretty straightforward. Why do you feel a need to point out what race your children and wife are? That is the type of stuff that leads to a sense of otherness.
Another update on thisBtw, your info seems to be quite dated. The bunker thing was Friday. Are you intentionally posting random comments here??
Bingo! We have a winner! That’s all that’s being posted on these threads as of late.Assuming everyone who disagrees with you is motivated by animus toward brown people is just profoundly intellectually lazy.
Cool. I never said BLM promoted violence. I just don’t agree with all of their stated goals, and I’m responding to the implication that people who oppose them are motivated by racism. That’s offensive, and as I said, intellectually lazy.I don’t like any group that promotes violence. BLM does not (https://blacklivesmatter.com/what-we-believe/). However, there are many groups that promote violence. That includes several groups that want to start a race war, people who want to bring down government, etc
Great, thanks to the heads up. You’ve correctly deduced that I’m very naive and sheltered. So please don’t think your children are safe because they have a white father. My dad wasn’t safe even though all 4 of his grandparents were from Ireland.
