Well it does beg the question can you be a bad person and an honest Catholic? Presumably a good Catholic woman would go to confession enough to make amends and gradually overcome her weaknesses.

If I were looking for a spouse, I wouldn’t rule out a high church Lutheran or Episcopalian.

It’s possible a person could marry a Catholic and things go South, ie. the marriage winds up in a divorce. I’m saying it’s not possible for a good Catholic man to marry a good Catholic woman and things go South. One of them or both is not being good by definition. The whole point in marrying a good Catholic would be you see a benefit.

What is good? Going to confession; making amends; saying you’re sorry; doing better next time. You would define that as being a struggling sinner. That’s okay, I suppose. As long as you keep getting back up.

Imagine if everyone had this philosophy. It creates a world of no incentives to get off a couch.

The philosophy assumes that a “Faith-filled, loving Catholic” is necessarily going to be outgoing or have the right contacts to bring desirable marriage prospects in contact with him/her. It could work, and no doubt has for many people, but I think there are just as many who need to get up off the couch and take some active steps to meet people themselves.

There is a guy I often see at daily Mass at a couple different parishes. I don’t know him, but I presume he is looking for a good Catholic woman to marry because when I’ve looked at the free preview of one of the Catholic dating sites, his profile pops up (the photo is very definitely him and it lists his home city which is the one where the churches are). He is obviously faith-filled based on the number of times I have seen him at Mass and/or praying after Mass. I presume he’s probably a nice person as well, he’s reasonably nice looking, well-groomed, etc. But I never see him talking to anybody at any of the Masses, male or female, young or old. There are a lot of single women of various ages at these churches so it’s not all elderly folks or families. In my opinion, you need to be a bit more outgoing than that if you want to meet somebody.

Maybe Op means more that sometimes it comes with certain other mentalities?

Be a Faith-filled, loving Catholic man. They will find you.
For every Catholic, a belief exists that the burden of finding a spouse rests on another person.

You could become a part of a public ministry like being a lector, altar server, usher, choir etc. In this way you may be noticed by single catholic women in your age range. They will take notice that a single man their age has enough interest in his faith to be a lector, or whatever. At my church anyway, all of the lector’s and ushers are much older and you would stand out!

No you have plenty of time, and options at your age Brother. Don’t worry 🙂

ive just come up to speed with ‘Beardgate’ 🙂 … I dont have a beard anymore but I only got positive feedback when I had one. Jesus had a beard right? So it no bad thing.

Unfortunately it got really popular to have a beard, and I didn’t have mine when it was quite so fashionable so I shaved.

No Beard anymore, If I find a wife who likes beards that may change. I am easy either way. Now can everyone please return to my topic? thanks 😅

Sure I would but its hard to know whether they are divorced, made a mistake (sex before marriage) and returned to the Church, or whether there was a Father to the child working late. Its not something you can just ask in polite conversation if you met them on the street, and even more so in the unlikely event they where in Church (like in the second instance).

I knew a Catholic woman who had a string of unsuccessful dating experiences. Finally, she prayed for the right spouse for months and months. Soon, she met a man who was inactive Protestant. They got married. Although she never pressured him, he went Mass with her, without receiving Communion. Eventually, he decided to be received into the church because he was so drawn to the Mass. They have been married for 20 years and have a beautiful Catholic family life.

Hi, yes I have tried Catholic match and Catholic Singles, been on the dating site merry go round many times looking for Christian in my search criteria e.tc. and just didn’t work out at all for me.
