Anyone on here remember the old Catholic Answers forum?

No one knew on the old CAF who reported anyone. There weren’t flags that is true.

I believe currently if someone keeps flagging someone “for no reason at all” as some people like to say, they can get suspended here if it happens often enough.

I don’t remember, but didn’t the old forum also put the reason why someone what banned on their profile?

I think he was referring more to the flagging, then he said, possibly suspended.
Yes the flagging. Case in point two of my posts in this thread were flagged and removed less than five or ten minutes after they were posted. That was quick.

Instead of “flagging” it was called “reported”

For a while a few years back every morning there would be countless posts of spam every morning.

So posters would let the other posters know when they reported the post.

So frequently there would be post 1 that would say something like, “buy designer knockoffs”

Post 2 would say “reported!”

I can’t remember either. I didn’t read too many profiles back then.

Happy Birthday!

(You’d think that the cake would come on the birthday person’s time).

Ask an Apologist is missing, though. 🧐
That’s a huge loss in my opinion…
What was that? Sounds interesting and useful. I joined only a year ago.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Many old-timers and stalwarts have chosen to leave. I’m on the cusp myself.
Having been a moderator on a secular forum with 60,000 members, I can no longer understand the corporate philosophy.

Very sadly, so much has changed and I dare say nothing more.

At one time you were actually able to submit questions that would be answered by the Apologetics staff. After the switch to Discourse, they put a tab on the main website for contacting the Apologetic Department. That option was also removed and now you must contact the department directly with your query.

There is seemingly a generation here that has their cursor poised over the flag icon. Do I merit it oftentimes? Certainly, but not in every case and there is no interacting with moderation. It may not be, but it strikes me as impersonal.
