Are those who do not receive Jesus in Holy Eucharist really Christians? Is it insanity for them to continue claiming to be Christians?

Not, I actually understand. But my statements still stand.

Lets just say the devil won this round! But the fight isn’t over. We have prayer on our side!👍
Wouldn’t be great if Obama put an end to abortion? He could you know! God made the Pharaoh change his mind! It took 7 plagues. We have: AIDS, Homosexual marriages, Economic problems, Democratic Congress and now President. That is 5 that I can think of 😃 only two more to go??? 😃
God Bless, remember to love your brother! 👍 **
I do love my brother! I don’t want anyone’s kid to suffer for a week before death like Pharaoh’s son did.
Asking Obama to not sign FOCA now, is silly. He told everyone he would do it. No one took that seriously. Or, maybe the guilt complexes are kicking in now.

** Re: Are those who do not receive Jesus in Holy Eucharist really Christians? Is it insanity for them to continue claiming to be Christians?**

Reply: I’d like to answer the orginal question.

In order to so so, we must define “Christian” and Catholic. Catholics are both Christian and Catholic, while Christians are “only” Christians.

Why is this understanding necessary?
**
Because there are TWO, truly great reason for being a Roman Catholic. Two reasons that seperate us, indeed make us better, than all other Christian denominations**.

Both are bibically proveable facts, even if one uses the KJV.

1. The Roman Catholic Church is the ONLY Chistian church actually, and literally founded by Jesus Christ Himself. And as history has proven has an unbroken like of Popes dating from St. Peter Himself.👍
  1. Only in Church’s that have a provable “Apolostolic Line of Succession,” Roman Catholic from year 33 Ad, and Orthodox from about the year 1000 AD. Only in these Church’s is the bread and wine, Transubstanuated into the actual Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of the very same Jesus born of Mary, who died on the Cross for us, and who rose from the dead. It is this now glorified Body of Jesus that we Catholics receice. Not a mere sign, not a mere symbol, as one finds in all other Chrsitian church’s:rolleyes:
One find’s proof of number one in Mt. 16:13-19, and number two in Mt, Mk., Lk., and John as well as by Paul in 1 Cor. and Eph.😃

Pertty Awesome huh:thumbsup:

Is it “insanity for them to do so?”

**No, Chrsitians receive a sign or symbol, which might leave them hungering for more? What they are going is a good practice, but compared to us Catholics, it is “just practice.”/**COLOR]

God bless,
PJM m.c.

It is a practice, true…You all are arguing over rites thousands of years old on both sides. Drinking your “exclusive” bread and water" (as you seem to imply)🙂 will not give or get or beget you eternal life unless the heart digests what the mouth con
sumes. Read the simple recipe for salvation from the mouth of Jesus. I understand the complexity regarding justification and sanctification, but disagree that the only way is the “transubstantion” way…

The methodist church website talks about the different interpretations regarding the Holy Eucharist - calling it the great mystery - Jesus at least comes down to occupy the bread and wine metaphyically… More important is the partaking in the ACT of the Holy Eucharist - catholic or otherwise. What catholics see as their “wine” you alos see as protestants “beer”. Little less or more expensive, but has the same effect.🙂

The methodist church ADMITS it must get back to the regular communion. Historically, it is only done every quarter, because in the frontier days there were not enough ordained ministers to administer the sacraments in america. No excuse now!

Rob,
You are, of course, welcome to your opinion. And remember, there are some who say that you, as a Catholic, are not Christian. I say you are both wrong.

But I ask you, specifically, how do you reconcile your opinion with the following:

CCC
However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers . . . . All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church."272
819 "Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth"273 are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: "the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements."274 Christ’s Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church. All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him,275 and are in themselves calls to "Catholic unity."276

How dare you spread a false gospel and then claim others are not Christian.

Repent now for not percieving the Body of Christ before you are taken up ill.
John 6 is not a false Gospel! Jesus made it perfectly clear that “unless you eat My Flesh and drink My Blood you have no life in you”.

The person who brought this thread back on topic, does not agree with me and the Orthodox and Catholic Churches that the Holy Eucharist is truly the Body and Blood of Christ and by your response to me, it sounds like you don’t either since you are accusing me of a false gospel.

Just read the Gospel of John Chapter 6 for yourself, if you don’t believe what I say about it.

It was only those who rejected Christ’s words that we must Eat His Flesh and Drink His Blood who left Christ. I’m sorry, but in my opinion, if someone heard Christ Jesus say those words or have read them in the Gospel of John and then claim that the Holy Eucharist is not His Body and Blood, then those people have left Christ and are not Christians.

Hisalone is completely wrong about the Sacramant, but he/she is still a Christian. But he/she can defend that position about the Supper better than me.

So, what about Lutherans and Anglicans who DID hear the words of Christ and DO claim the Body and Blood are truly and substantially present? Are we Christian by this definition of yours?

John 6:47 Amen, amen, I say to you, who ever believes has eternal life"Nab I was told in Catholic school it was our faith in Jesus Christ that was the road to Salvation. I’m no longer Catholic, so I do not receive the Eucharist, not because I don’t believe, but out of respect! So you are telling me I’m no longer a Christian??? Pretty judgmental aren’t you?

And the catholics here who voted for Obama?
Are they part of the “real church”?
I say they are morally and spiritually bankrupt. And, if they recieve communion, they are spitting on Christ.
The Mind of God is the Mother Church - as the catchism says. The Wisdom of God is the Advocate - the Holy Spirit. Who Jesus left for us after Pentecost. Jesus will judge harshly those who judge in His place. The narrow path is through Jesus holy heart not just through the sometimes narrow door of the great churches in our time (2000 year old ot 500)

Amen - you all will attract more non-catholics through wine and bread (the CCC) than through vinegar (personal opinions)

Anyone who acts in a Christ like behavior is a Christian.

All are saved.

**I went and read it myself. I have to admit that: “I was in error”.😊 **I could say that I miss read the OP but I didn’t.

It is just that I have such a deep love for the Eucharist myself, that sometimes I forget that there are “christians” who won’t ever obtain Eternal Life because they have not eaten the body and blood of Christ as He commanded! I read more into the question than was actually there. I stand corrected!

[SIGN]John 6:53-56 RSV) So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.[/SIGN]

“Are those who do not receive Jesus in Holy Eucharist really Christians?” ALMOST, because you have to follow Jesus’ commandments to be fully a Christian!"Is it insanity for them to continue claiming to be Christians?"No, only to refuse to become Catholic and enjoy the fulliness and eternal Life promised by Jesus!

**Thanks for correcting me, I feel much better now.👍 It happens. I am only a humble follower of Christ! 😃 **

Frank, That is perhaps the most illogical remark I have ever read on the internet that wasn’t posted by JustAsking4.

Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Mahatma Gandhi, and many others who acted in a “Christ like” behavior, whatever that actually means, weren’t even near being Christians .:o They would have had to be “followers” of Jesus Christ to be Christians. 🙂 To be “real” Christians, they would have to be Catholic! 👍

And your answer wasn’t on topic by the way! 😃 **

** Hi Brown,

He has already Judged: “It is written in the Bible!”👍

Where did you get that idea of the narrow path through Jesus holy heart??? That sounds so nice!

The Wisdom of God is the Advocate - the Holy Spirit. Who Jesus left for His One Holy Catholic and Apolistic Church after Pentecost 2,000 years ago, not 500 years ago! 👍 **

Rob - 2,000 Jesus rid us of religion, in ACTS the first believers were known as “followers of the way” later they were named Christians by pagans because they were “christ-like” then in 114AD Ignatious came up with the idea of “Catholic” which means the universal CHRISTIAN church. We are to follow the way the truth and the life, with no man made doctrine, but a heart after the Lord.

Oh and the holy eucharist was a full meal complete with fellowship, and if Jesus celebrated it as a meal and the disciples celebrated it as a meal than we would truly be doing it in the memory of him if we did it as a meal

Christ Jesus came to save all. Some people around the world have never heard of him…they have been raised up differently. Christ is still there for them and anytime they are living according to Gods will they are acting in a “Christ like” behavior.

The word Christian, like many words has evolved to a different meaning then it did back in the day. To me, a Christian can mean anyone who is living a good life. They might not know they are a Christian, but Christ Jesus is with them nonetheless.

Whether by the water and/or by Spirit - you can be saved and be partaking of the Holy Eucharit - by metaphysical presence or by transubstation - you will be given the be granted more graces. Let’s not parse the words of Jesus. You may be right. But the sacred tradition of the other faiths interpet differently. We all can agree that we MUST partake in our chosen Christian faith’s Lord’s Supper, Communion, Eucharist, etc.
