That is very wrong. How do they justify discriminating asians?
Diversity. Too many smart ones. That is very wrong. How do they justify discriminating asians?
I would say it depends. Around here, there are a lot of marriages between “Anglos” and Mexicans, most of which are Mestizo. Oftentimes the only distinguishing feature between their children and the “Anglo” population is the last name.Made me wondering: my husband is, as I said, mestizo from South America and I am white. What race would our daughter be considered in the US?
Columnists are paid to make outlandish statements.Don Lemon, CNN even questioned Kamala as being African American. Just look it up.
Also, in Mexico it is an insult to call someone an ‘Indian’. The country has gradiations of skin colors from negro through moreno to blanco.Around here, there are a lot of marriages between “Anglos” and Mexicans, most of which are Mestizo. That’s for sure. I had an “Anglo” friend who married a Mexican-American. She became pregnant and, upon learning the child was a girl, proposed to name her “India” after the country. I guess she thought that was exotic-sounding. Her husband’s family had a fit. “India” in Spanish is the feminine form of our word “Indian”. To them it was like naming your child the “N” word. They just wouldn’t have it. In the end, I don’t think she did name the child “India” after all. Also, in Mexico it is an insult to call someone an ‘Indian’. Really? You’re not going to chase that rabbit? Why ever not?27lw:![]()
Not going to chase that rabbit.Links? Have you any? She was asked in what context?
India? As in “India Wilkes”, Ashley Wilkes’ sister in Gone with the Wind? Yet another verboten topic! There’s one every time we turn around…Nepperhan:![]()

Race consciousness and bias is a very serious thing in Mexico.
I only put it at 10% chance he’d be replaced.Oh, I don’t think Pence will be replaced. I’ve heard Nikki Haley is a candidate but I really doubt it. Pence attracts much of the base, particularly Evangelicals, whom Trump needs.
The grades and scores on entrance exams of Asians are too high. Even higher than whites, who come in second. They don’t want too many Asians on campus. That is very wrong. How do they justify discriminating asians?
I agree. I would, however, add most white Catholics.I think evangelicals would vote for Trump, with or without Pence, Nikki Haley, or anyone else.
Who are they gonna vote for, a Democrat?![]()
I don’t think Pence is bringing the voters at this point. The white evangelical movement is more of a political movement than a religious one, in my view, and they are lined up behind Trump. But I think Pence helps to bring in the evangelical money from the big donors and their organizations. Pence has had relationships there for years, and Trump is a fairly recent “convert” (pun intended) to their cause. Those $$ relationships matter.Do you really think that Pence is bringing the evangelicals and not Trump himself?
I totally disagree with the first statement, but agree with the second. They aren’t evangelicals because of their politics. Their politics is determined by their religious beliefs. The white evangelical movement is more of a political movement than a religious one, in my view, and they are lined up behind Trump
