I agree. However, the conservative Reps do not want to extend freedom to certain groups of people, such as women, minorities, LGBT, the disabled, and so on in the first place, whereas the leftist Dems want everyone to think and behave the same way, that is, political correctness and total conformity. This shows the dangers of any kind of extremism, whether the extreme-right or the extreme-left, whether political extremism or religious extremism. Each side believes they are taking the moral high ground, whereas, in reality, neither is.

No, right now the Democrats are trying to fund the Post Office to support the election and the Republicans are blocking it.
it doesn’t take the billions of dollars to do that, it won’t buy the trucks or build the plants in time to go back to the old standard for this election and it would be fool-hardy to try with the dwindling mail volume. mail is becoming obsolete to most Americans. it is still a necessity but the model changed and people need to get on board.

ballots always get special treatment. this year will be no exception, the only issue is people coming to work and the dems aren’t helping this to happen
This is absolutely false. Drugs and first class mail are now taking weeks. It’s on purpose.
drugs are packages and they are swamped, it is not on purpose. bring the people back to work to get it processed timely, oh, the dems are against this even though some Postal Workers haven’t missed a day, they are the heroes in this story

where is it taking weeks to deliver first-class mail?

the conservative wants everyone to live his/her life in peace and not be forced to accept doctrine against their beliefs.

this group controls the DNC and places religion in jeopardy

I would welcome a return to the democratic party when abortions were rare

Hmmm. In what way do the “Reps” not want to extend freedom to women, minorities, LGBT, the disabled?

Would you be so worried about the leftist Dems if they were opposed to a religion other than your own, say, Islam or Hinduism?

Then you would agree that atheists should not accept prayer in school, whether public schools or nonsectarian private schools? And you would agree that no one should have the right to tell a woman whether or not she should have an abortion, but rather allow her the right to choose?

You stated in an earlier post that you (as a Catholic) are worried about people’s behavior preventing them from achieving salvation. Why would you not allow them to live their life in peace so long as they are not harming anyone? Can you not evangelize by means of your own behavior rather than attempting to change others’ behavior? Do not kill with kindness.

I repeat: extremism in any direction, whether right or left, whether political or religious, is not the moral high ground.

Hopkins doesn’t define “most affected” so you stepped in to offer one, you made it up.

My criticism has always been aimed at the author of the graph you shared, which didn’t correspond to any sort of their data table.

If you go there now, the choice of countries has changed dramatically, but still doesn’t fit the table. Since the UK was pulled, likely the UK objected 😉

Good table, but useless graphic. FYI, it’s a good habit to review the source before sharing graphics.

they are, the Jews and yes I am

Islam and Hinduism do not have the numbers but the dems will turn against them when they grow especially Islam with its treatment of women and the LGBT.

a moment of silence for all to do their own thing

no, abortion is murder. legalized, but still, murder and that is wrong in the majority of places.
Why would you not allow them to live their life in peace so long as they are not harming anyone?
again

from another thread or forum (sorry to the first poster of this, I forget who gets this credit)
I want us to consider the following quote from the self-proclaimed atheist Penn Jillette. He states:

“I’ve always said that I don’t respect people who don’t proselytize. I don’t respect that at all. If you believe that there’s a heaven and a hell, and people could be going to hell or not getting eternal life, and you think that it’s not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward—and atheists who think people shouldn’t proselytize and who say just leave me along and keep your religion to yourself—how much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate somebody to believe everlasting life is possible and not tell them that?
“I mean, if I believed, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that a truck was coming at you, and you didn’t believe that truck was bearing down on you, there is a certain point where I tackle you. And this is more important than that.”
Can you not evangelize by means of your own behavior rather than attempting to change others’ behavior? Do not kill with kindness.
not in an online world, no one really knows who or what you are or why you type what you type
I repeat: extremism in any direction, whether right or left, whether political or religious, is not the moral high ground.
there is no moral high ground, salvation or its loss is eternal,

Kamala Harris Raided David Daleiden’s Home for Exposing Planned Parenthood Selling Aborted Baby Parts

Oh yes, go after the people who expose this is happening.

Hopkins doesn’t define “most affected” so you stepped in to offer one, you made it up.
It does but not in detail.

Mortality in the most affected countries

For the twenty countries currently most affected by COVID-19 worldwide, the bars in the chart below show the number of deaths either per 100 confirmed cases (observed case-fatality ratio) or per 100,000 population (this represents a country’s general population, with both confirmed cases and healthy people). Countries at the top of this figure have the most deaths proportionally to their COVID-19 cases or population, not necessarily the most deaths overall.

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

not necessarily the most deaths overall. takes San Marino and Andorra out of the “Most Affected”

JH is not obligated to define in detail to the layman. Those that have some scientific background have the ability to understand the vagueness of what they said. So it is left to investigate why Belgium, United Kingdom, Spain and Sweden are left off the graph even though they are 2nd, 4th, 6th, & 8th on the sortable data at the bottom of the page.

And I provided the death data graphs for those 4 countries. Here is spain’s again:
(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
The death count has essentially been flat since May 21ish. I can scientifically believe that is why it was omitted from graph of “most affected”

Why do you imagine it is so important to the Dems, that we have mail in voting!?:face_with_raised_eyebrow:Rhetorical question,BTW
Why?

Because Democrats are traditionally lower income people. Lower income people are mostly hourly workers who, ever though they’re supposed to, can’t get time off from work (or don’t want to lose income) to vote.

THAT’S why Trump doesn’t want alternative methods of voting. They help people who are going to vote against him.

Very plausible

Someone almost randomly selected countries from their second dot graph. There is no rational why they excluded UK, Spain, Germany, Yemen, yet included Romania, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, etc.

Kamala Harris … anti Catholic the articles from 2015 … long before Kamala Harris’ failed run for president or her pick as VP … thus not a spin to denigrate her as Biden’s VP Pick

Probably NO candidate should get the support of Catholics!
This points out the drawback of a two party system. With a multiparty system, you have a better chance of voting for a candidate who accords more with your views.
Top Homeland Security Officials Are Serving Illegally
Why aren’t they in jail? Has this been proven and they have been found guilty?
now an African-American woman has the opportunity to ascend to the second-highest office in the nation,
Is that her race? I thought she was of Asian Indian background?
But I do realize almost nothing will change Catholics who have decided to support abortion.
That is part of the problem, with the other part being that Catholic women have abortions at about the same rate (maybe a little less) than the population as a whole. And no one wants to punish a woman who murders her unborn child. They say: Oh, no. Don’t punish her for murder because she was a victim? Of course abortion is wrong and contracting out to murder your child is wrong. But if you are not going to punish a Catholic woman who commits murder, and further if Catholic women are having abortions at about the same rate as everyone else, how to you expect to convince non-Catholics to enact laws with teeth which will prohibit abortion? And many Catholic women are taking abortifacient birth control pills. The percentages of married Catholics using contraceptives has been reported in Catholic publications to be quite high. And yet, at the local Catholic church almost everyone goes up for Holy Communion. What does it all mean?

Because of affirmative action.

And you keep ignoring that we do not vote “for abortion.”
Of course people do.

So, if, knowing that Hitler was going to kill all the Jews, you would have voted for him anyway if his policies pleased you in some other way.
Likewise, it is most uncharitable to say, “But I do realize almost nothing will change Catholics who have decided to support abortion,”
It is no uncharitable to tell the truth regarding something as blatantly immoral as murdering the innocent.
That is no more just that saying that nothing will change for the Catholics that keep supporting racism.
Catholics who actually do support racism are as rare as hens’ teeth. True racists are quite unlikely to change. Of course, nowadays anyone who does not support BLM is called a “racist” by some.
Maybe you should re-read Archbishop McElroy’s speech as he made that case and you seem to have missed it.
He also made it clear that he thinks the Democrat position is immoral.

I see that some posters are supporting my point that some Catholics will support abortion, no matter what. They invent reasons to promote their immoral political party (Even McElroy acknowledges the immorality) and will continue to do so.

And yet, at the local Catholic church almost everyone goes up for Holy Communion. What does it all mean?
It means people do not acknowledge their sinfulness and marry their souls to it when there is no need for them to do it.

I recall some historian comparing the morals of the Renaissance to those of our own time. Paraphrasing, he said that compared to the former, moderns “…neither sin well nor repent well…”
In other words, while those of the past acknowledged their sins and could therefore repent, moderns do not admit they are sinning and therefore do not repent.

You haven’t seen the multiple threads here from questionable media about supposedly racist incidents in isolated small towns? Why don’t you reply in the same manner to those threads?
Perhaps I don’t fully appreciate isolated character assassinations intended to be broadly applied to the innocent. But you can go ahead and re-cite some of them if you want, and I’ll look at them.

So, if, knowing that Hitler was going to kill all the Jews, you would have voted for him anyway if his policies pleased you in some other way.
Godwin’s law strikes again. As soon as you mention Hitler… you LOSE!

Voting for reproductive freedom AKA choice is not voting for abortions. The abortion is the woman’s choice, not the voter’s choice. If she happens to believe in God, then it is between she and the Lord - and it is none of your business.

Of course any discussion about abortions is futile as long as all you bring up is histrionics in the form of “genocide of the unborn baybees” or “mass slaughter of the innocents”. As long as you wish to avoid the fundamental difference between zygotes, blastocysts, embryos, fetuses and babies - there can be no discussion.

Start officially supporting all forms of pregnancy preventions or contraceptions, mechanical and chemical, and there can be a fruitful discussion. The suggested abstinence as the one and only “moral” way to avoid pregnancy will never gain acceptance, nut just in the general population, but among Catholics either. And not just the everyday Catholics, but members of clergy either. So stop peddling the “wares” which no one will want to buy.

And learn this: No one likes or wants abortions. No woman ever wanted to get pregnant, just so she can have an abortion. . . .

Your post substantially disagrees with dogmatic Church teaching. It is also needlessly personal. And for someone who mentions Godwin’s law, which is silly to begin with, you then commit the same offense.
