That is, unfortunately, almost certainly true. And if they did, they directly contradicted Church Teachings and Morals. Like another poster said here, Priests are only Human. The thing is, they are called upon to follow Christ’s example and that of the Church. I sort of understand the motivations that impelled them to vote for Obama but the fact remains the man is Pro-Choice, Pro-Gay Marriage, and a lot of other things that go against Church Teaching. Again, they were supposed to set an example to the rest of us and they did not live up to that.
Being an “ex-pat” of the Peoples Republic of Chicago I am well aware of a phenomena that has people equating support for a particular political party to being a fan of a Major League Baseball Team. Too many Catholics find it more important to support the Democratic party without exception becuase its what their grandma and grand dad did.

Its appaling and it is how such corrupt regimes continue to rule in places like Chicago and Illinois.

by the way…What is the difference between Kim Jong IL and Mayor Daley.

Answer: One is the ruthless dictator of a one party state and the other is president of North Korea.

Well now that baseball is on topic I wanted to know if Cubs fans like us Astro’s fans are eagerly awaiting the start of spring training? I got to go to my first baseball game in Wrigley field this summer and although I tried to be polite to my son-in-law I just could not bring myself to poll for the Cubs;)

This Cubsfan is stuck in Afghanistan so I do not know what to make of the train wreck that is my Chicago Cubs.

As a fan of the Cubs I would expect, nay demand that an Astro’s fan not cheer for a division rival, so I am good with you not pulling for the enemy.

Hopeully you join me in my dislike of the Cardinals!

Thank you for your service!

That is your personal opinion but not the opinion given by some of the Catholic priests who voted for Obama. These priests have gone to Roman Catholic seminaries and received Church training in Catholic teaching. So they know what they are talking about.

I would suggest that you pick up the book “Good Bye, Good Men” and then you may understand why what you suggest is fraught with fallacy.

Hey, now, what’s the matter with our Cards?! (I’m not really a baseball fan, oh the horror, but as a St. Louisian, I must defend the Cardinals.)🙂

Not to turn this into the Catholic Answers Sports Page, but nothing wrong with cheering for your team and there is nothing wrong when someone cheers against them. I will say that the Cubs and Cards are now paying for the foolishness of spending lots of money on too few players.

I second that. Thank you for your service!
Thanks gentlemen I appreciate it, I hate being here and everyday is a struggle so knowing people appreciate our service helps. 👍

Has that book been officially approved by the Roman Catholic Church and its bishops? Or is it just a bunch of wild unsubstantiated rumors? Why are people trying to tear down the Catholic Church with rumors and not support our priests?

“Goodbye Good Men” is essentially a memoir. Neither a collection of rumors, nor a vetted Vatican treatise on Catholic dogma and doctrine.

But it is worth the read.

BUT, getting back on track. And the extent the media will go to to smear a Conservative political candidate:

So here they come. Again.

Yawn.

The Left Wing Media Machinus Maximus once more trundles the old rusty guns into place and starts firing…sort of. These old cannons date back to at least the late 1940s. Let’s run the list.

1948: Congressman Richard Nixon becomes famous as the man who helped Time magazine editor Whittaker Chambers reveal Alger Hiss, a Harvard Law grad and ex-aide to FDR and Truman, was in fact a Soviet spy. The accusation turns out to be true and Hiss goes to jail.

RESPONSE: Media smears both Nixon and Chambers. Nixon, nominated for VP on Eisenhower’s ticket in 1952, is accused of unethical behavior in a “scandal” that involves a fund in which wealthy supporters pay for travel expenses. Nixon is forced to defend himself on television. Opponent Adlai Stevenson has same kind of fund, media doesn’t care.

1951: William F. Buckley, Jr.’s first book, God and Man at Yale, is published.

RESPONSE: Among a list of of charges, Buckley is accused of being a Nazi, a Fascist, a Stalinist and…oh yes…simply obnoxious.

1964: Barry Goldwater is nominated for president by the GOP, beginning of the modern conservative movement success in presidential politics.

RESPONSE: Goldwater is accused of wanting to drop nuclear weapons on Vietnam, racism, mental instability, in need of a psychiatrist, supporting violence, and being a Nazi sympathizer.

1966: Ronald Reagan runs for Governor of California.

RESPONSE: Reagan is accused of being an extremist, a nut, a member of the John Birch Society, an idiot, stupid, dumb a Fascist and a racist.

1988: Dan Quayle is nominated for vice president by the GOP.

RESPONSE: Quayle is accused of being not very bright, dumb, an air-head, a fool, a draft-dodger.

2000: George W. Bush is nominated for president to run against Al Gore.

RESPONSE: Bush is accused of being dumb, stupid, a hopeless drunk, a fascist, a fundamentalist Christian extremist.

2004: Dick Cheney is re-nominated for vice-president.

RESPONSE: Cheney is accused of being a right-wing fanatic who wants to blow up the world, evil, a habitual liar, a Fascist, a Nazi and a racist.

2008: Sarah Palin is nominated for vice president.

RESPONSE: Palin is accused of being dumb, stupid, a right-wing crazy, and idiot and a fool.

2010: Sharron Angle, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Mike Lee, Joe Miller, and now Christine O’Donnell are all nominated in upsets of conservatives over the GOP Establishment.

RESPONSE: All are accused of being wackos, idiots, extremists, dumb, crazy and more.

Today, the New York Times runs a hit piece on Christine O’Donnell painting her as a “perennial protest candidate” and “provocateur,” and slams her for not catering to the national media (hmmm.) Newsweek discusses her “notoriety.”

This after a campaign in which Ms. O’Donnell has been pictured as…you guessed it…a nut, a slut, an idiot, dumb, a witch, a fool, crazy as a bedbug etc.

And…oh yes… Bill Maher openly tries to blackmail O’Donnell with a threat to run old clips from a failed TV show unless she does what he wants — come on his show.

Does anyone notice something peculiar here?

I thought it was O’Donnell herself with her own words who said that she dabbled in witchcraft and had a date with a witch on a Satanic altar?

I’ve been trying without success to get the transcript of the entire Bill Mahr television program.

Because … there is more to it … some kind of context.

She was on his television program something like 19 times.

[What was so special about Christine O’Donnell as a 29 or 30-year-old that made it so compelling that she, as a complete unknown, appear on Bill Mahr’s television program, not once, but 19 times or thereabouts?]

Here are some of her other statements regarding that particular appearance:

Delaware Republican Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell responded to old clips that surfaced over the weekend where she said she had once “dabbled in witchcraft,” clarifying at a GOP picnic in Delaware Sunday, “I was in high school, how many of you didn’t hang out with questionable folks in high school? But no, There’s been no witchcraft since, if there was, Karl Rove would be a supporter.”

The 1999 tape from “Politically Incorrect” first surfaced Friday when Bill Maher aired it on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” saying he would keep airing clips until she appeared on his show.

“Bill wanted ratings, I gave him ratings,” O’Donnell said.

[So, it seems like … she was acting like Bill Mahr’s publicist … or as his marketing person … [was she being paid for her appearances??] … and she turned a movie-date with a dopey kid who was into goth stuff into some kind of wicca meeting.]

Local Republicans seemed un-phased by the latest clip, which followed other television interviews that surfaced where O’Donnell talked about such issues as sex and condoms on MTV and to Phil Donahue.

"It seems awfully silly if you see the clip, you can see she was speaking of time when she was a youth and a time when she was exploring youthful things, said Vance Phillips, the president of the Sussex County Council and former Vice Chairman of the Delaware Republican party.

"* see it as a continuum of personal attacks – the left understands they cannot beat her on the issues, "Phillips said.

My take on the whole thing is that Christine O’Donnell gave the Democrats some really dopey personal stuff to attack. Meanwhile, she focused her attacks on their voting records, their pro-abortion policies and their tax increases.

So, the Democrats are attacking smoke and mirrors with great enthusiasm … pure superficiality. And she is kidney punching them over and over.

Meanwhile, all the voters know that she is dedicatedly pro-life.

One of the reasons she gave for cancelling the Sunday talk shows is that she wanted to get to church and then meet with the voters. The other day there were two rallies. Chris Coons, the Democrat, appeared at a large auditorium with the head of the DNC and could barely get a hundred people to show up. Nearby, Christine O’Donnell met with supporters at a pizzeria and the crowd was all the way out into the parking lot.

The Democrats attack her appearance(s) on Bill Mahr. Christine O’Donnell bashes Chris Coons raising taxes by double digits three times in four years and still bringing the county of which he is the county executive to the brink of bankruptcy AFTER inheriting a budget surplus. AND how unemployment has skyrocketed. Etc, etc, etc.

And then she states the importance of her being in Congress in early November [rather than in January like the rest of the new Representatives … because this is a replacement election.]

Then she had a meeting over a meal WITH ALL THE OTHER REPUBLICANS on the ballot for down-ballot positions. And she is extending her coat tails to bring them along.

So, meanwhile, the Democrats are swinging wildly and getting nothing but air. O’Donnell is landing one solid punch after another on the Democrats.*

In what universe? O’Donnell is in hiding She doesn’t stand a chance of winning.

In what universe, indeed.

Where did you get the idea she is in hiding?

Today, she was doing personal appearances all day and did at least one half-hour live radio interview.

Nope, definitely NOT in hiding:

christine2010.com/2010/10/o’donnell-bridges-gap-with-gop-statewide-candidates-urged-need-for-republican-win-in-delaware/

Excerpt:

OCTOBER 1, 2010

WILMINGTON, DE – Christine O’Donnell, Republican Nominee for U.S. Senate today hosted a GOP Unity Reception for Delaware Republican candidates.

Giving her endorsement and financial assistance to candidates, O’Donnell made the following statement:

“As we head into the home stretch of the election season, Delawareans have a stark choice. If voters think that they are sending too little money to Washington, Dover and local governments, then they should vote for the other ticket. If they think government is too small, spending is too restrained, and bureaucrats and politicians have too little control over their lives, then by all means, they should vote for the party that has been in charge for so long.

If, however, Delaware voters know that they are already taxed too much, that government spending is recklessly out of control and that know-it-alls in Washington and state and local capitals have too much power over their lives, then it’s time to vote for Republicans up and down the ticket. We have the opportunity to rescue our country and our state from fiscal and Constitutional disaster. …”

Distinguished members of the community as well as O’Donnell supporters and volunteers also attended the lunch and reception.
Definitely, NOT in hiding!!

Definitely a team-builder!!
