So, to say one candidate is pro-life and the other is pro-choice is wrong. One is pro-choice, one is apathetic.
Which one would be more likely to appoint conservative pro-life candidates to the Supreme Court? 😉

The Orthodox should learn a lesson from this bishop and stand up for religious freedoms!
Translation: tell people to vote for Romney

I really, really hope that this “you must vote GOP” doesn’t catch on with the Bishops.

Why are you winking at me? Romney will appoint those judges most likely to support financial decisions that benefit corporations and capitalism as well as free trade. I am telling you that stances on abortion will play a small, if any role his selection to Supreme Court Justices. I suspect any appointees stance on abortion will be “blurry”, some may not even have a record in that regard.

Obama will support pro-choice judges, without question or compromise. A pro-life stance will be grounds for termination.

All I am saying is do not make Romney out to be some moral hero who is pro-life, he’s not and it won’t guide his decisions much if at all. His heart is indeed the wrong place, and fighting evil with evil does not make something right.

You mean if a Supreme Court judge retires, that candidate might vote for a Pro-Life Judge who might have a chance to make a decision which could make a difference in abortion. That’s an awful lot of “maybes” for a potential voter to hang their hat on when that candidate differs with them on nearly every single other issue.

Wouldn’t it be better to have been positive? Rather than have the parish priests read an anti-Obama letter, it would be better IMO to have them read a pro-Romney letter.
Of course not. There is no reason for a priest to read a pro-anybody letter. That is direct campaigning for a candidate. What my priest did in his homily two weeks ago was review the stances of both major candidates that are of concern to Catholics, remind us that we are Catholics first, and also instruct us on the fact that we can vote to lessen evil. In other words, he reviewed our options and conveyed the teaching of the Church.

Is our priest voting Romney? I have no idea, based on his homily, and I haven’t asked him. He may be voting third party. 🤷

I don’t want politics when I go to Mass.

One of the things I admire about the Orthodox- at least in the West. You wont hear them trying to influence voters.
Ringil, we are called to bring our faith into all areas of our lives. We don’t park our faith at the church door.

I understand where you are coming from on this. Sometimes it’s really hard being an obedient Catholic. :o

But not the most important ones. 🙂

At this point, I think that it doesn’t matter for which candidate you vote. Many posters here on CAF are saying that Romney is going to win by a landslide. As that is likely, voting for Obama won’t make a difference. The leaning towards Obama fencesitters can vote for him without fear of throwing the election into his lap.

And I pray that your advise is not heeded…for the sake of the pre-born children who are being murdered everyday.

Bolding mine:

Oh yes? Could you elaborate?

Is not the ridding ourselves of the evil of Obama’s rabid abortion funding the Prime Directive?
Technically, that would be not inserting ourselves and interfering with other cultures.

And I pray that your advise is not heeded…for the sake of the pre-born children who are being murdered everyday.
Not to worry. Romney is SURE to win, or so say CAF posters.

That’s nonsense. Please.

People think a lot of things - that’s does not abrogate us of our responsibility to do what we believe to be the right thing. Not to mention there are just as many people who believe it will be close.

Gay marriage has a chance of passing in MD - doesn’t mean I can or will vote for it, as the Church has told us for months now. I am not going to stand before God and say “meh, he was gonna lose anyway, lord.”

At worst…Romney will appeal to his base…and promote conservative judges who are also pro-life. There is a zero chance of the other guy promoting a pro-life judge.
Obama will support pro-choice judges, without question or compromise.
Yes. Obama is pro-abortion all the way.

The man says he is pro-life and I will take him at his word. My conscience will be clear on the matter. The other guy is pro-abortion at all stages in the womb (and sometimes outside the womb in cases of partial birth abortion). I would choose martydom rather than vote for Obama.

CAF opinion goes towards a landslide for Romney. I’ll trust CAFers over “people.” So my opinion stands.

I don’t believe in telepathy. I will fight for the Romney election to the end.
EstesBob and Abyssinia are no fools, and they, among numerous others, assert that it’s a shoe-in for R/R. They don’t claim to be mediums.
