Bishop orders priests to read anti-Obama letter at Sunday sermons

The only way the church is going to get through to some of these politicians is to throw them out of the church. 40 years ago, the church would of done this in a second. I agree. Throw the politicians out; but, also the Priest that do not preach the faith. My Priest appears to support the liberal agenda. Everyone sing Kumbaya My Lord and let people do as they want. The Bishops dont do enough. Step to the plate and be Catholic. If a Priest or Bishop is not following the teachings of Christ do something about it. It is tough to go to Church and see the Priest, appear to reject our teachings, and the half the parish applauding it. Bishops are we Catholic or not? Are we afraid of standing up for Christ? All we could do was send a letter out when we know that a million children will be killed this year. Cant we do better?

It is. Unfortunately, I will be having some of those very people in my house at Thanksgiving, if I can stand it. Maybe I’ll just skip the dinner and spend the day in penance, fasting and prayer for our once great country, spend the day in Church.
 
Maintaining the divide hasn’t worked out real well for us. Maybe it’s time for a new approach?

If I stay home, I get the requisite invitation to go to Thanksgiving Dinner at my brother’s
But it is very hard to go when I know I will assaulted with liberal tripe, so I’m going to
have an alternate plan so I can say that I’ll be busy with a prior engagement.
So maybe I’ll join you (all) too!😃

I think you are confusing weather with climate. I’ve been referring to our progression into an uninhabitable climate, that will lead to many knock-on effects that will kill huge portions of humanity and others of God’s creation. We are on the brink and much of the harms are already in the pipes from our previous GHG emissions, and will be playing out over the centuries, even millennia. It’s as if we have shot bullets into the air, which will come down and kill people in the future. And there is no statute of limitations on killing people.

The other more serious issue is that if we continue to emit large quantities of our greenhouse gases, following a business as usual path, we will likely tip the earth systems into climate hysteresis for 100,000 years or more, during which most of humanity and God’s creation on earth will be wiped out. Or, according to top NASA climate scientists, we could even tip it into runaway warming as on Venus, in which all of life on earth will end.

That is the very serious sin we are in process of committing. Again, just because people do not die today from this, and the total dying out may take 100s, 1000s, even 100,000s of years, does not make us any less culpable.

Why we would chose to do this I really don’t know, esp when mitigating climate change would save us a lot of money, help our economy and health, mitigate many other problems, and without lowering our productivity or living standards. It is just pure unmindful and evil profligacy on our parts.

Obama & the gov can’t solve this problem tho perhaps they could help in various ways. Ultimately it is up to us. It is up to me. It is up to you.

Fine, San Diego to North Carolina can secede, joining with them random conservative areas in the upper Midwest and Mountain West, along with Alaska. I’ll move down south to join. 😉

I would never look forward to a day that the Church would lose just one, much less anymore, and I don’t believe that is Christ’s intention for the Church. We should be evangelizing others, not pushing away, or withdrawing from those joined in the body of Christ, and I don’t believe you’d find the Church teaching such a measure.

We can evangelize all we want, but when those we are evangelizing, either inside or outside of the church, are vehemently fighting back in key areas such as this, it is nothing more than a lie to pretend they are still considered in the church. Them leaving is only an outward manifestation of what their inward reality has been all along.

What do the CITH advocates always say? “What matters is on the inside.” By that logic, they have already left the church, which is exactly my point.

Then I say leave it to the hierarchy of the authoritative men of the Church. Laypersons are on the bottom of that chain of command. While Christ will cull goats and sheep, He gave no such instructions for the laity of the Church He built. ‘What’s on the inside’ cannot be seen by another person, and assumptions of the inside intent place one in a position of having judged.

Christ stated the gates of hell shall not prevail against His Church, and that He would be with it until the consummation of the world. An election was lost and people are acting as if there is no hope, and promoting ideas that are against what He taught, in my opinion.

I know people are disappointed because of the election, but many refuse to address the differences, or the cause of differences. We have four years until the next election. Maybe now is the time to force the issue? Pope Benedict wrote something, as a Cardinal, that has been the center of debate since it was written. That was 8 years ago, and three elections. The Bishops debated it before releasing the voter’s guide, which has what the Cardinal wrote, this year. The guide was released without changes. Now, once again, Catholics were split 50/50.

It would be more productive, and in line with the teachings of Christ, to seek a solution, without a hope of a personal desired outcome; His will, not ours.

We are to set an example. It is not ‘shut up and take it’, but more through humility, and our example is of Christ’s love for us all, and that we have faith and hope in Him above all things. In our example of Christ’s love for us all, we are commanded to love one another as He loved us. He even went so far as to teach us to love our enemies and to do good to them that persecute us. This was an election lost, and not a direct persecution.

no, the election was not a persecution. The man who won the election is doing all the persecuting, and is likely to continue it for the next 4 years.
