Hey Z ,

If I wasn’t clear what kind of tree I was talking about I will try and be crystal clear now. I am talking about a Catholic tree, and my question to you is ( drum roll please ) If I can show you Catholics that are productive citizens, kind, gentle folk that have good educations from schools on par with BYU, would you consider the " Catholic " tree as equal to the for-mentioned " Mormon" tree???

I look forward to seeing you this fall for RCIA ( congratulations Z )

God bless,
Carl
Then you hadn’t understood what I had said either. The Catholic Church is a good and virtuous institution. It produces good fruit to match the claims that it makes. The Catholic Church does not claim to be led by prophets and Apostles, with the ability to commune directly with God, and add to the canon of scripture. And the fruit it produces, up to the claims that it makes, is for the most part good. But that is as far as it goes. The LDS Church is a different ball game altogether, and makes a claim for itself that the Catholic Church never has, never can, and never will. It produces good fruit that matches its claims.

Well…
Nothing yet.

Ill try reading some of the book of mormon…
Well, if you thought you were going to get an answer from the Lord that way, then you have another thing coming. See my previous post. That promise, as found in the Book of Mormon, is as follows:

Moroni 10:

3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.

4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

6 And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is.

7 And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever.

If you thought you could get an answer from the Lord by treating that promise flippantly, you will be knocking your head against the wall for a very long time.

From your computer screen you saw that I was going about things flipantly?!?!?!?

I will assume that you don’t have super powers, and that you did not see me…but just guessed that I was going about things flipantly because I said “nothing happened”.

Assuming you did the later and don’t have supernatrual powers, what separates you from the faith healers or the pentecostals??
If you don’t receive a miracle or gift of toungs don’t they also say your going about things flipantly?

Of course you approached it wrong and got the wrong answer, it’s right there in Moroni

Carl quit making fun of mormons,
or whoever your making fun of…

I can’t find humor in this.

I have learned a lot about denominationalism…I don’t think its funny at all.

Unless you have walked in a mormons shoes?

I was a JW, that’s why I make fun
of the watchtower organization…THEY ARE A JOKE!!

But the JW people I would not joke about.
Hi again excaliber,

I guess it safe to say that my suggestion did not work. ( sorry I thought it would 😉 )

For what it’s worth, My silly response was in reply to your silly post regarding your updates awaiting your " burning in your belly "

I would add that it is your opinion that JW is “in bounds” and LDS is out of bounds for, as you call it " making fun ".
My opinion would be that JW and LDS are both in the same category ( sadly mislead )
Having said that, I was not making fun of the Mormon followers, I was indeed offering a silly response to what I find silly at best and that is the birth and founder ( JS ) of this man made religion.

Peace,
Carl

realmormonhistory.com/ this site will tell you the real history of the lds and show you how they looked down to the black community
this cult is not Christian at all their believes are like a fiction book

That depends on what kind of tree you are talking about. If a political party produced good fruit, I would say it is a good political party, not a good religion. If a philosophy produced good fruit, we would say that is a good philosophy, not a good religion. Jesus made that comment in a very narrow sense. He was talking about those that made a narrow religious claim:

Matthew 7:

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

The LDS Church claims to be led by prophets, Apostles, seers, and revelators; by the direct guidance and revelation of heaven. If that claim was false, it would not be producing good fruit.

zerinus
what do you mean the LDS is producing good fruit? every verse you wrote it points to the LDS or you’re going to tell me that having multiple wifes is good fruit or not just many wives but under age wifes, believing in multiple gods and that you will be a god of your own planet is bearing good fruit “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves” that sound more like the false prophets of the LDS.

Good fruit is produced by the lds church. The lds are often good citizens and trustworthy and the young are much in demand in the corporate world if on campus recruitment is anything to go by on the campus of BYU.

Yes, I did. No “supernatural powers” were required. Your series of posts tell their own tale:

Also they say all we have to do is pray…if that’s the case God will tell us if Joseph smith is a prophet if we just pray.

Well Im about to give it a go…
be back

That’s OK, Excaliber. If the book makes you too mad and anxious and nauseated the first time, wait until later. You should eventually be able to read it objectively. 😃

ITS NOT SILLY Carl.
Read the scriptures about wolves in sheeps clothing…and about false prophets…and about people being mislead.

Ok now show me where ANY of those scriptures make fun of any of these people.

As for who is inbounds and out of bounds…look at Christ (not that Im a perfect example or anything)
Jesus felt sorry for the people who were like sheep without a shepherd. However the Religious leaders who should have known better were inbounds when he called them offspring of vipers…and drove corupt people out of the temple.
I don’t think Jesus thought it funny at all.

Jw’s I feel bad for…but the leaders I don’t. They drive nice cars and travel the world giving speaches, while there followers suffer.

That time frame is not possible.
I met the missionaries and prayed with them much later then 3:00
I met them around 5:00.

So how could my first post have been from before the missionaries
asked me to read and pray.

And my last post be not long after we finished our discusion.

My first post could not have been before 7:00 pm…

Anyway…I started of with the missionaries…prayed with them…
Then prayed alone…read some of the book of mormon.

How much time dose a person need to spend to get God to answer them?

As far as wrong intent. I have some time before RCIA starts. So in the mean time I decided to give mormons a shot. How is that bad intent or whatever.

EDIT = I just checked this post and its about 4 hours of. Mabey I need to change my settings.

Your time may be different from the forum’s time, if you are too far apart; but the intervals will be the same.

The time is not the important factor; the desire is, and how much effort you will put into it. Studying the Book of Mormon thoroughly from the beginning to the end is one measure of your seriousness and desire to know.

You will need to give it more than a “shot” to obtain that answer.

Well if corporate recruiting is the criteria for measuring good fruit then the states of Ohio and Louisiana are also producing good fruit.

Let me explain my position. Im 85 percent sure the Catholic Church is
correct. 10 percent of me thinks the Orthodox could have a point…and the 5 percent thinks ITS POSSIBLE that one of the restoration churches could be correct.

Im giving the 5 percent a shot…That gives God something to work with…Im going to listen to the orthodox also giving God something to work with…I need time in there for muslims also(probably won’t read the whole koran).

The point is ask God for guidence…and allow it to come from any Church…I don’t have time for all 30,000 denominations.

But I cut the bible churches with no athority out of the picture.
Of the ancient churches its narrowed down to Catholic or Orthodox.

And yes the restoration Churches,Mormons and JW’s are already out of the picture.

I think Im giving God more to work with then most do as far as bieng open.

Catholics are far in the lead however.I have yet to find bad Catholic fruit.

While a Mormon could have been perfectly obedient and still ended up with several wives…and thinking God was partial to skin color.

Glad to see how sensible you are. It really doesn’t take much reading of the BOM to see how offensive it is.

Hi excaliber,

Maybe we should agree to disagree ( you think JS and the current prophits deserve a great deal of consideration and I think it’s silly)
Agreed??

I would add that you refer to scripture in light of the LDS, where in scripture do you find the story of gold bars, hats, seer stones, or New York???

Peace,
Carl

Thank you. Then allow me to explain to your my position. I am 100% sure that Mormonism is true, and 0% sure that any other church is true! 🙂

My position is clear.
Peoples belief is not silly.

Denominationalism is not funny.

Show me where Jesus thought it was funny.

You think mormons are mislead…am I correct?

You think something about that is funny…I disagree.
