Newark, New Jersey never recovered from the riots that happened in the wake of MLK’s assassination in 1968. There was not only white flight to the suburbs which caused many businesses to shut down, but there was even black middle-class flight as well, leaving behind only people with little education or skills.

but there was even black middle-class flight as well, leaving behind only people with little education or skills.
My dad worked with a black guy who would take his daughters to where he grew up in Detroit to see how bad it was, and to impress on them the need to work hard.

I saw some picture where two whites were in front of some fire that was set. That’s all I have, a picture. I didn’t pay close attention to it but it may well have been a minority business that was set on fire.

So, it sure looks like antifa is doing this and hardly helping the grieving parties, they seem to just be opportunistic in destroying things
Why do you say Antifa?
Are you aware also of reports of White Supremacists behind the violence?

Probably more Antifa than white supremacists there, fanning the violence. I doubt many white supremacists would dive into a black protest.

Sad to say it will also make other companies or entrepreneurs think twice before opening up businesses in certain neighborhoods
If it was my business, I would move, but not before I used the video to recoup from those who damaged it 100% of the loss, or at least all the money those criminals could pay, plus a judgement to make sure they never owned anything of value.

Are there pix / videos of these bugaloo Bois?
Search and ye shall find.
Interestingly, the mayor of St. Paul had stated:
“every single person we arrested last night, I’m told, was from out of state.”

Well that’s tantalizing, but it doesn’t say if that means antifa or the bugaloo bois. Or even juggalos… Or something else…

Also I don’t see any pix of the bugaloo Bois at these protests. Can you link to some?

So, you can’t find any photos of the boogaloo Bois at these protests. I googled it and I can’t either.
I can only find references to their actions? Do they were uniforms with identifying insignia?

This story is heartbreaking, or more accurately, it’s another heartbreaking story coming from all of this. I don’t condone the violence – but I understand it. People haven’t been heard for so long, and people keep dying at the hands of law enforcement that goes unchecked for so long – how anyone expects violence not to erupt from that sort of situation is beyond me. We don’t have to condone to recognize that desperation is behind much of this.

I don’t understand such violence against property and looting and such. And time and time again it has had instigators. The vast majority by far do not act this way. Moreover they suffer quietly due to the shame it feels to be indirectly stigmatized because of this.
And I mean from any side.
It is more than heartbreaking to see the work of your life destroyed.
No excuses… they won’t be helpful on the long run…

Yes, in the Vice article it says they wear Hawaiian shirts.

So the MN Governor is wrong when he said this is not about George Floyd’s death? And he’s probably more of a progressive Democrat type.

Gov. Tim Walz addressed the media at about 1:30 a.m. at the State Emergency Operations Center about the growing danger.

“This is not grieving, and this is not making a statement … this is life-threatening, dangerous to the most well-qualified forces to deal with this,” Walz said. “This is not about George’s death. This is about chaos being caused.”

What does his political affiliation have to do with this?

“A riot is the language of the unheard.” Martin Luther King Jr. certainly wasn’t condoning violence – he was understanding its origins.

Grace you won’t like this: your society brings race to mind every single time one has to fill in the dumbest paper work…
There is an obsession or close to it there with it. This isn’t common or usual elsewhere.
At some point it is being stressed , emphasized and I have often wondered if this isn’t also part of the problem
A mother is a mother , and societies don’t stand up for brutality of any sort any more.

I understand what you’re saying. I think “my” society does this because the race-related wounds here are deep and unhealed. There are many Americans who tout being colorblind – they claim not to see race. This thinking contributes to the problem since it means POC are being told not to speak about the racism they experience – they’re being told not to acknowledge their own experiences. We have to learn to see people as equal while respecting (not ignoring) the pain they go through.

I am not saying ignoring focchi, not saying it doesn’t exist, but take your time to see if this emphasizing doesn’t kind of become a sort of drawback.
Purge the forces as necessary, deal with the racist, but then having to write down race for even the dumbest unrelated poll, paper work, document, really? For what purpose?
And when I say your society I really mean this time to circumscribe it to US because it is like something noticeable there. Not out of any sort of discrimination or lack of love or anything. We have got other problems

Yes, he had some understanding of why people want to riot. Yet I note that this one quote keeps popping up, specifically because it was out of character for him to even give that level of acknowledgment of violence. He abhorred and opposed violence as a method of change. His ideal was Gandhi. His method of attention was sheer numbers. Right now there is no MLK in leadership position that can help turn anger into results. If nothing else, the civil rights movement this generation highlights what a great man he was.

He was able to amass great numbers of people in peaceful protest. The only way to amass such numbers again will only be through peaceful protest. It is the only way to get the attention of those that matter without becoming deadly, diverting attention from injustice to suppression of violence.
