Seriously, Americans should stop fretting over cakes and burgers. These things are blown out of proportions.

In my town, city trams had rainbow flags mounted on them during Pride week last month. Did I care? No. It’s a festival. Some of the events I could agree to, some not. I went to neither.

There’s something about priorities that I just don’t get when it comes to the political-religious climate in the States. It’s like picking one’s battles is seen as an abomination.

It does seem that stuff like this does die a much quicker death if you ignore it, then if you make noise. 🤷 I always wonder if Dan Brown’s books would have been seen anywhere but the dust bin if it weren’t for Catholic’s making a stink. They ended up with far more publicity than they should have ever gotten.

A high ranking Burger King Corporate Officer (from their Corporate HQ in Miami) and the Burger King Corporation were involved in providing funds supporting this public parade celebrating sodomy and sexual immorality:

You know, I just looked at all 89 pics on the sfgate site and did not see a single photo depicting any sexuality at all, immoral or moral, just people marching or standing around watching and no sodomy at all. The closest they came to nudity was A single photo of one man not wearing a shirt and clothed from the waist down. :yawn:

Most of them, if they didn’t look like a Skittles factory blew up, would look like any other nonevent. But, I think you might have missed a few, because there was more than just one with over exposed flesh. Hope they were wearing sunscreen.

I try to see both sides of something like this.

I support equality for gays (anti-discrimination, anti-bullying, etc.) and I support what BK is trying to do with respect to scholarships for GLBT youth.

I have never been to a pro-gay rally or parade and do not intend to go, because of the sexuality/partial nudity (based on what others have said), and as a Catholic I can’t support that element of it.

But I see something like this as doing more good than harm. I support equality and I support scholarships for youth; maybe they’re sponsoring an event part of which I do not support, but I’m not about to boycott BK just for that, especially since they support other causes that Catholics might agree with. When this topic comes up I tend to side more with the gays than the bullies and the bigots.

I Have never been to a pride parade or rally either, I have no interest of course. I have been to "the city’ twice. But if you don’t go to the Castro district you just don’t see noticeable homosexuals at, at I least I haven’t.

San Francisco is very much a city made up of neighborhoods, just like Chicago. If you stay in the right parts of town and avoid the bad (Castro) you will be just fine. SF has many Catholic churches, two cathedrals, and Catholic schools.

So many people focus on only the homosexuals and end up missing a beautiful city by doing so.

I agree - it is a beautiful city. I even lived there for a few years. But when the city itself does something like this:

It’s not. I think people get worked up way too much about gay people. We’re just like anyone else in the world, and those who are actively gay are just sinners, like everyone else. There is nothing somehow uniquely more sinister about actively gay people than any other sin. I’ve never understood why people feel the need to slam gays (or those who show support for gays, especially those who merely show abstract support for gays, like rainbows).

Seriously, I wish people would just let gay people live their lives. If they sin, they sin, and that’s a personal responsibility they have to themselves. We can (and should) preach the Gospel, but there’s only so much we’re supposed to do. We don’t need to be the self-proclaimed nannies helping hold the hand of every gay person on the planet.

And most of all, can we be respectful to them, please? I seriously feel like every thread that’s like “X company decided to help homeless LGBT teens!” looks like a giant red Drudge siren with “X company falls into acid pit of immorality” on CAF. It makes me feel so sad for members of my religion.

The problem smgs is that gays get too worked up about trying to force people to accept he gay agenda. And I know it’s probably a minority that does so but that minority has a great deal of power and influence in our culture I wish this gay minority would just let us live our lives without making everything a referendum on approving gay rights or not. And if I complain about this or voice views contrary to he gay agenda then I’m branded a homophobe bigot. You’ve got it backward as far as the society and culture at large goes : it is gay gay gay. You can’t escape it. Do what you want. Just don’t force me to approve it. I don’t view gays or whTever the sin of active gay lifestyle is called as necessarily worse than the sins of others. We are all sinners. So I see your point there

People feel it is a big deal… Because if they were to hang a picture of baby Jesus on that building at Christmas, there would be riots in the streets because it infringed on their rights.

I think you’re over reacting there. Noone thinks a company is in a acid pit of immorality for helping someone.
It’s just. That homosexuality is a sin. And if someone says “Hey we support this sin, so come spend your money on us!” Then we should say no. Because supporting that company is supporting that sin. Plain and simple. So really, by buying a pride whopper. You are going against Gods commandments.

It’s just that it’s YOUR OPINION that it is a sin. Many, Many people do not share that opinion and you should not be able to force or legislate that opinion on other people. Live and let live.

It is not “MY OPINION” that homosexuality is a sin. It is Gods. And i am not trying to force or legislate that opinion on to anyone. But. I will follow Gods “opinion” before man or his laws. And if i want to stop buying whoopers i will. And if i want to say that homosexuality is a sin i will. And if i want to say that it is hypocritical for them to be able to cover a government building in their symbol, but yet cry when another group does it. I will do that too.
If anyone is being oppressed or having someone’s lifestyle forced onto them it is the Christian community.
