I really do not understand why people are saying that Iran should not be allowed to have nuclear weapons because it wants to “wipe Israel off the map”.
From what I understand, Iran currently has some 150,000 missiles in it’s arsenal and it is certainly capable of producing many more if it wishes to.
If Iran were to launch hundreds of thousands of missiles carrying conventional warheads towards Israel, all of Israel would surely be destroyed.
Why then would Iran need to develop and deploy nuclear weapons if indeed it wants to wipe Israel of the map militarily since it is already capable of doing this by raining down Israel with conventional warheads?
Israel will likely respond with it’s nuclear weapons of course but this still will not be enough to save itself from being destroyed as well.
Ron Paul really should not be faulted for taking a generally non-alarmist attitude towards the question of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons because it is pretty much a non-issue to begin with.
