No one is requesting a “saint”. One does expect nonetheless some public professionalism, decorum, respectability, poise, dignified speech, manners and much else besides in a statesman. Trump has none of that and moreover appears to delight in having such a crass public persona. It is unbecoming of a prospective POTUS to talk like a circus clown and flagrantly offend half the electorate.

The reason we are in this mess is because so few people care about personal values. I don’t care if a person is male, female, white, black, green, yellow or orange–I care if they share my values.
I agree, our republican caucus is this saturday and Im voting Trump. I think he will throw a wrench in the political machine that has been running far too ‘smoothly’ for many years now. Just seeing how certain people, groups are frightened by him being elected makes him my choice!
I agree with this. Virtue seems to count for nothing these days. Trump is taking it to an even lower level. By electing Trump the electorate is exonerating him and holding him up as an exemplar to follow. For today’s youth, things are bad enough without having your President salivating near-lustily over his own daughter, insulting women and bullying people left-right-and-center. It sends a terrible message to the wider society that its good to be a total jackass.

I disagree. Trump says he’s prolife, but he also states quite strongly that he is for the three typical exceptions (life of the mother, incest, rape). Anyone who has researched this topic knows that when ANYONE says they are for those three exceptions, that really means they are for abortion on demand–they just hide their real views under the three exceptions statement.
I think we are seeing the only play the GOP has left. The candidates will all stay in with the hopes they will continue to peck away at Trump’s delegate count so that he does not go into the convention with decisive numbers.
Trump never legislated any laws per abortion or funding planned parenthood, he had his opinions. He’s not perfect. He has not actively been pushing legislation or vetoing pro-life bills. These others have.

I’m not so sure voter turnout at this point in time means as much as you might think. Many people only vote in general elections and many others only vote in general elections in Presidential years. Lets not forget Republicans won in the last 2 midterms and yet Obama was reelected inbetween 2010 and 2014. And I wouldn’t dismiss the idea of Trump or Cruz for that matter being a unifying factor for Democrats and bringing out many of their voters and those who lean Democratic.

Well I shall be hoping and praying for that outcome since, if the GOP establishment proves utterly incapable of putting the brakes on Trump (as is increasingly, if tragically, looking the case) then that will be the final hope for America and the world.
No. Rubio has said many times that he is against all abortions, but he’s also said that as President, he will sign a bill that has a chance at reducing abortions, he will sign the bill if nothing better was available. In other words, he is against the exceptions, but he is pragmatic and knows he cannot force those in Congress do things his way.
