No. Rubio has said many times that he is against all abortions, but he’s also said that as President, he will sign a bill that has a chance at reducing abortions, he will sign the bill if nothing better was available. In other words, he is against the exceptions, but he is pragmatic and knows he cannot force those in Congress do things his way.
In a sane parallel universe, the GOP would be going into the presidential race with someone like Rubio, Jeb Bush or Kasich.

Instead they are rallying around the worst possible candidate and individual I could possibly imagine as POTUS: a lewd, formerly blatantly pro-choice, racist, sexist, foul-mouthed playboy who thrives on voters that are angry and spouts xenophobia in every direction and is hated almost universally abroad. Apparently, *ka-ching * they’ve got the gold with this one 🤷

It is insanity beyond belief. I cannot understand it and probably never will for as long as God gives me life.

It’s not clear at all that Mr. Trump is pro-choice. He has said that he is pro-life.

I believe the answer is found in Romans 1. Read that entire chapter–the second half especially applies to our times, imo. It really does explain why we are suffering, and why I believe we will continue to suffer.

Well I shall be hoping and praying for that outcome since,** if the GOP establishment proves utterly incapable of putting the brakes on Trump **(as is increasingly, if tragically, looking the case) then that will be the final hope for America and the world.

I look at the Declaration of Independence and its high ideals of liberty, equality and the pursuit of happiness. Trump represents the polar opposite of that ideal. He is not the heir of the Founding Fathers. If anything, he is the nemesis of those great men and their dreams. Its sad, really.

The Republic will have regressed mightily from 1776 to 2016 if Trump gets the presidency.
What exactly is the GOP establishment supposed to do? Republican party leaders don’t choose who wins the nomination, the voters do. I rarely agree with the voters, but that’s the way it works.

I typically agree with that; however, the three exceptions really equals abortion on demand.
Not convinced of that at all. Even with those exceptions, there will be greater restrictions on abortions and I think it will go a long way to change people’s views.

No comparison being made per the quality and character of each man;

But I’m sure one can find things on Winston Churchill but guess what? He was ideal for helping Great Britain get through World War II.

Oh, you can find a lot of things on Churchill. His views on India pretty much killed his political career in the 1920-1930s until the German threat resurrected it.

Disagree. Pregnant women and their doctors can easily create a reason for a life risk. No one will monitor that and the bills will not contain any tight restrictions on that exception. If there were two exceptions (incest and rape), then I’d agree with you. But, TLOTM exception really leaves everything wide open.

**Actually, I’ll say that Mr. Trump underperformed what I expected and this is far from over. ** I think the projections from the AP show that the delegate breakdown from yesterday will be:

Trump 234
Cruz 209
Rubio 90
Kasich 19
Carson 3

So, Mr. Trump won the day, but he didn’t do as well as I expected he would (he won 42% of the delegates, whereas I expected close to 50%). That said, Senator Rubio still underperformed. The winner of the day was Senator Cruz, who was the only one to exceed expectations.
Agreed.

If anything Trump flopped. Remember, he was expected to take ten out of ten; he only took seven and nearly lost one of those.
That said, I don’t expect Governor Kasich to drop out before Ohio (March 15th) where I expect he’ll get enough delegates to be a player at a brokered convention.

On the other hand, I think that Senator Rubio will continue to get money and will hang around. He definitely can gain enough delegates to be a player at the convention.
I’d predict just the opposite. I expect Kasich to be the last one standing (except Trump).

In Ohio Trump still has a slight lead over Kasich but this could change. The most recent poll was earlier in February before the recent Trump flaps. A good showing by Kasich should keep him in the game. And we’re just noe getting into the Midwest where Kasich is strong.

Meanwhile Rubio is expected to lose to Trump in Florida (not that I’d want that to happen; I’d easily back either Rubio or Kasich before Trump) and he might drop out of the race at that time. That would clear the way for Kasich to become the leading Trump challenger.

The game is now to get to the convention by not allowing Trump to have a 50% or greater majority of delegates. Truth is, if they wanted their best shot at catching Trump, everyone but Cruz and Trump should drop. Cruz did very well last night and had no one else been in the race, he might have done much better than Trump because he would have crossed the 50% line in Texas and that alone would have him taking all delegates in that state.

But no one will drop because they are kicking the ball to the convention.

To emphasize this point, yesterday Trump gained 234 delegates, while Cruz gained 209. Very close in terms of delegate counts and the nomination is about delegates, not raw votes. nytimes.com/elections/results

I am a Rubio supporter, but I’d have no problem voting for Cruz.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

I think that Senator Rubio will get better donors and that’ll be the key. Also, Rubio won Minnesota, which is kind of Midwest. Governor Kasich just isn’t as well known, even in the Midwest.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.
That’s fine, but it would be nice to know on what basis you disagree. I am not trying to find an issue where is none. The truth is women and doctors can craft any reason they want, and who in the world will question that?

I think that by banning abortion for all reasons except the three exceptions will make legal abortion more rare. I also think there will be a general change of attitudes towards abortions if it were to become illegal and less people will seek them.

I agree there will be abuses, but I think it’ll be a large net positive.

Oklahoma had a closed primary, no cross overs and Trump did not finish 1st;

So, some are saying, the remaining primaries, most or all which are closed, could be more like Oklahoma vs. these other states.

Or…Oklahoma is close to Texas, which is where Senator Cruz is from. Which also explains how he did so well in Alaska, being born Canadian and all.

Not to press the point, but how? Passing meaningless laws does little good, other than make people feel as if they did something. If a pregnant woman can still to go her doctor and get an abortion for pretty much any reason they create, how will that change anything?

I am not trying to be argumentative–it is just that for 30 years we have lip service about life, and the truth is, women who want abortions will easily get them even with the life exception. The only way that exception could work is if very strict monitoring controls were placed in the bill–yet, we all know that won’t happen.
