There are Armenian Churches in Turkey, and particularly in Istanbul, I see that not long time ago Erdogan attended the funeral of an prominent Armenian who passed to eternity.

So now, the most important is to introduce civilization and humanity in relation to the ancient churches and monasteries of Artsakh.
It is interesting whether they will function thanks to the Armenian minorities of Karabakh.
Azerbaijan as a political state is far from being ISIL, so hopefully the cultural genocide will not happen on the conquered territory.

There are probably widespread photos in the press especially with some who know the news agencies better especially coming out of Eastern Europe and the Caucases nations.

Russian peacekeepers have gone into this area, there are photos of what they found, a photographer was with them. They show some pretty bad scenes.

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty does have some of these photos and it is in their photo gallery, “Vision of H—” I’ll say. They do put a disclaimer on the photos as “disturbing content”, so not sure how to speak about this. I am not linking.

It was a horrible war, worse on Armenians I believe by far… I know the people are upset but it seems they were really taking it on the chin.

See here, these drones, okay, they are a legitimate part of combat… I have debated this point before. There are bad guys out there but drones were most likely very lethal for Armenia:
While Armenia only fought with tanks, artillery and air defence systems, Azerbaijan relied heavily on drones, specifically the Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 and the Israeli-made Kamikaze drones. The two drones can carry bombs of up to 55 kg and 15 kg respectively.

“These are drones that are expensive, but very useful when it comes to targeting your adversaries, missile batteries particularly, your adversaries’ air defence radars, because all of those emit radiation,” Gupta said.

One reporter seemed to say they even witness a sort of squadron of drones, 10 of them altogether.

6 week war, for Armenia:

In Armenia, the people are upset but how can you go against a force that seems quite a bit superior to yours??

So, Armenia loses, it wasn’t just the drones, apparently, Azerbaijan had more tools in its arsenal. I saw an article, radio jamming and so forth.

Yes, and may the souls of both sides rest in peace. I have not heard the count on the war-dead of Azerbaijan.

I guess Armenia will lose most ALL of it’s land it previously took in a 1990s war in Azerbaijan: It will mostly be transferred back to Azerbaijan I think, please correct me if I am wrong, there will be a Nagorno-Karaback Artsakh independent area (red area?). See map at this link:

Here is a pretty much an indepth blog article written showing losses. It’s pretty involved, at the least, showing helicopters lost and things like that.

I saw this morning a casualty figure for Azerbaijan. Casualties are over 6,000. That does not mean fatalities. It makes the war seem a little less one sided but apparently, Azerbaijan had drones and ?? Armenia none? And Armenia and Azerbaijan probably both with a lot of Soviet era equipment.

Also, this:

If one has kept up with the news, allegedly, there was a plot to assassinate the Prime Minister, Pashinyin.

One of the officials denied this.

The Azeris trained with the Turks all summer, and I think that the Azeris did not train according to Soviet textbooks.
Armenians could even win, the history knows a cases when battles were played in the worst situations and were won, but history also knows a cases when even great nations surrendered in order to avoid victims of their population.
Yes, the Armenians are outraged that the Muslims have taken the Kremlin into their own hands, that Putin, as Saakashvili put it, is in his classic Russian imperial manner-He can when it is necessary to sell, exchange, and betray the people for the sake of other interests.
Anyway, in my opinion, Pashinyan’s decision was correct, and I think - even belated.
Fresh graves of young soldiers testify to this.
War is not a sea battle for you to play with a computer, especially since (1) a certain decision was made in the Kremlin,(2) internationally, Azerbaijan liberated its territories,Therefore, there is a legal preponderance of Azerbaijan.
Armenians can stay in Karabakh, which will be the territory of Azerbaijan.

The most interesting thing is what will happen to the Armenian society now.
There is an invincible vein in the spirit. These are not ordinary people.
There are examples from life when boys lost a fight and after they became completely reincarnated.
They obsessively began to play power sports with the iron rule - to achieve perfection. As a result, they became sports legends.
There are defeats that we need in life.
After this, a total loop of consciousness occurs.
Therefore, with Armenians the time will tell.

Of course, Armenians are not Israelis, but by mobilizing they can build a military state like Israel.

In addition, Israel has a historical patron - the mighty United States.
For Armenians, a lot of things depend on the cohesion of the society itself, the diaspora, the Kurdish factor…

If you take into account the mobilization and cohesion of society, + the patronage of a powerful US (including financial, moral), then this meant a lot.

To build an army is both finances and brains (even growing one general the decades needed)

In the philosophy of building an army, military equipment, defense, even the enemies of Israel cannot help but admire.

Stealth drones, kamikaze drones. These are not only smart constructions, but also expensive modern weapons.
The same is true for planes and tanks.
There are super modern ones, and there are old things that not many poor countries can afford.
And the modern era again proves(like always in the history) that the army strengthen the state to a very large extent.

I think the Irish are winning diplomatically amid Brexit, can’t get why Ireland is not Schengen Area.

I remembered how for example Turkish Cypriots rushed to referendums for unification with Greek Cyprus.
Similar situations in other conflict countries, instead of the army plays an elementary desire for a civilization rather than some territorial attachment.
I remember when many Crimeans and many young citizens of Donbass insisted on their Ukrainian citizenship when the EU allowed visa-free entry for citizens of Ukraine.

Sometimes the civilization factor works better than regiments of troops.

I watch how the kamikaze drone works

Even seasoned military journalists acknowledge the successful importance of drones in this confrontation

Regarding drone innovation, it is true that young people are talented everywhere now, but I think that Armenians with two academies of sciences, with their mathematical school, leading chess school, can also compete in military innovation.
But there is such a tendency that talents go abroad. To France, to America.
In the West, there is much more chance of personal success.

I read a specific article on this one man who was probably pretty young starting this off in 2005 who has sort of pioneered drones in Turkey. Yes, I am sure Armenia and virtually any nation that were really trying to develop weaponized drones could do it.

Here, this talks about him, Selcuk Bayraktar:
… Turkey’s drone program has its origins in 2005, according to an article from The Intercept. A Turkish UAV pioneer named Selcuk Bayraktar encouraged authorities to invest in a drone arm for the military. Turkey already had several General Atomic GNAT drones and also several Israeli Herons. It took many years and several different ideas, such as the larger Anka drone the Turks built, but now the country has an array of drones such as the Bayraktar TB2 that Turkey uses and exports.

There appears to be evidence of hundreds of sorties of drones over Idlib and destruction of Syrian regime units that has also angered the Russians, Iran and Hezbollah, all of whom have forces in the area supporting the Syrian regime.

According to reports the Bayraktar TB2 for instance uses a 22.5 kg Rokestan warhead. The Anka drone also uses a MAM-L smart munition that is developed by Rokestan. Much of the details behind the strikes are not revealed to media and Turkey’s media has speculated on which drones have been used. In some instances the Bayraktar has been shot down in Libya, but less frequently in Syria. Overall the Syrian air defenses have not proved capable of dealing with the drone threat and Russian-made air defenses, such as the Pantsir, can’t be everywhere on the front line.
Turkish drones revolutionize Idlib conflict – analysis - The Jerusalem Post.

So, if Armenia did not have drones via Russia, maybe they should have. Russia/Syria have likely used drones in Syria but maybe not as advanced as Turkey’s who cleaned up pretty well in Syria with their drones.

So, this fellow developed drones on a bit of an amateurish or entrepenuerial level but encouraged Turkey to look into it especially for military use. I read his story somewhere. Maybe that Intercept article. He might have even learned abroad from Turkey and he learned the technology.

Armenia did shoot down some drones.

Fine post, that’s why I wanted us to stay in Syria/Iraq. It was an error to withdraw in 2011 and led to a sort of genocide against Christians and others.

Iraq basically now wishes us to stay, if I need to provide info I can.

Stay until it is relatively stable and they can defend themselves.

From the article:
This past is hidden, and the intentional obliteration of Armenia’s Christian culture denied, by the powerful family that has controlled Azerbaijan for two generations, the Aliyevs.
It’s a totalitarian regime, they are listed by Freedom House as “non-free”, Armenia is rated “semi-free”.
