Isn’t a society of ‘I’m armed you better watch yourself,’ a cheapening of life, as Cardinal Dolan referred to it?
On the contrary, an armed society clearly values life as something precious.

Your understanding of human nature is flawed.

I trust the common good of the common man.

You trust the uncommon deceit of the political elites.

So yes, you are being dangerously hypothetical. And naive.

Go back to topic, please. I’m not the topic. 😉

That’s why he doesn’t make any sense. Maybe if he put in any semblance of effort during the “gay marriage” fight in NY we wouldn’t have gay “marriage” in NY. He really fell out with me on that.

He has selective rage.

And this teacher is wryly smiling at the notion of a kids classroom being “sealed.”

Some school you have in mind.:coffeeread:

I am increasingly convinced that Cardinal Dolan really hit the nail on the head when he talked of two pasths of Culture.:amen:
Doors in classrooms can be replaced with more secure safety barriers you know.

Did that not occur to you?

BTW: How’s the trans-gender curriculum going in those public schools?

That’s quite a “culture” our “education” system is cultivating isn’t it? 👍

You need to rewind a little further:

" Because, Dolan says, he and his fellow bishops had been assured by “political allies” that the bill didn’t have any legs, and that there was no need to expend resources fighting it."

lifesitenews.com/news/we-were-deceived-on-new-york-gay-marriage-vote-archbishop-dolan/

Looks like Bishops get rolled all the time. With this and the HHS mandate

Yes, as soon as you said secure. Along with bars on the windows etc etc:sad_yes:

I have no idea. I live and work in Italy.:yyeess:

You use an isolated incident in China, now address the times of mass shootings in the US over the last 20 years.

What happens when terrorist get nukes? Hypothetical situations can be imagined with any end. Truth is, 30 round magazines, or 100 round drums, have no place in civilian hands. We’ve seen the reality of those. Every second could be another life saved.

I don’t see any controls taking away my ability to hunt, and have a home defense in the worst case scenario. They would be no more than minor inconveniences.
I am not going to debate you, which is why you pose som ridiculous arguments to generate responses. With regards to your comments about controls taking away your ability to hunt - you obviously do not live anywhere near Connecticut, Massachusets, New Jersey or Rhode Island. All of these states have laws all but prohibiting hunting. The tree huggers and soccer moms have won in those States, and these 4 States, with New York City and Chicago have the most restrictive gun laws in the US.
Since you are so fond of quoting statistics, What about the one about privately owned firearms preventing more violent crime against individuals that are people killed by firearms in any given year? And why is it that areas having the highest minority populations have the most stringent anti-gun laws?

Yes, as soon as you said secure. Along with bars on the windows etc etc:sad_yes:
Bars on the windows won’t be necessary.

And if you consider something as innocuous as secure safety doors to be an extreme and sad result, then how serious can you possibly be about stopping violent killings in schools?🤷

I have no idea. I live and work in Italy.:yyeess:
So you are qualified to speak on our culture when it comes to guns - but when it comes to trans-gender agendas in the public classrooms - you are suddenly clueless?

I see.😉

Bars on the windows won’t be necessary.
Bullet proof glass that you can’t open? Care to expand?
And if you consider something as innocuous as secure safety doors to be an extreme and sad
If the doors are “innocuous”, then they won’t be much good in that “safety” thing.

Does a kind need to go it each time he or she needs the bathroom?

Better regulation of guns would help, but even more so would be a change in the culture of violence.

Almost everything from computer games to movies to modern music is a glorfocation of violence. Moreover the governent’s foreign policy seems to have been for the last decade that violence is a panacea to almost all global issues. It’s in the language that is used: everything is about domination and violence “crush them” and “anihalate” those even when talking about sport. In fact that whole “winning” at the cost of others, in fact very often to spite others. All of that and more needs to change.

And the Church, imho, is the way to lead the culture out of it.

I thought you were asking me as a teacher in my personal experience. And I had none to offer.

If you need confirmation that I agree with Benedict XVI’s views on this you have them from me.

But it is off topic.

I agree with limiting the violence in our culture.

However, you are veering off the path here with your geopolitical rant about American military conflicts.

Let’s stick with one of your Left-wing Socialist weaknesses at a time in here okay?

As Prodigal Son 1 is wont to remind us- you’re off topic. 👍

What are you talking about?

Safety doors would be kept open most of the time.

They are mainly used in “lock down” situations during an emergency.

I was under the impression that the rules of the forum prohibit personal insults
you’re off topic.
Not at all. I belive that the answer to every issue in the world is an aggressive foreign polocy that dehumanises people living in the targeted countries is part and parcel of a culture that has become obsessed with violence.

But only one of many parts of it and as much symptom as the cause.

The root of it is even deeper. And that root also leads people to believe that their reponse will also be to kill those that thwart or slight them.

Feel free to rant about America’s geopolitical military conflicts.

I’m not the moderator.👍
