As for a knife… while I am aware your tale of the amazing stabbing Chinese man is just waiting to re-enter the debate, I am fairly certain that you do not consider it as dangerous as an assault rifle otherwise wars would have ended differently and the sales of expensive assault rifles would not be sufficient to support their production.
What?

Talk about Reductio ad absurdum.

So… how would you stop an assailant from attacking a school?

Tell me.

If the assailant is aware that the teachers are armed then yes, the teacher would be stargeted first.

And then the class are targets

Considering the other teachers would either have to pursue the the assailant and leave 24 or more kids behind or they would have to stay put.

Meanwhile Mr Psycho-Suicide is free to massacre.

Oh and my reasoning comes from a Captain and several NCOs in the 7th regiment of the Italian Alpini

They are students of mine and that was their analysis of the ridiculous concept of arming teachers in elementary schools.

And they served both in Afghanistan and Kosovo

Back in Afghanistan now as it happens.

Prayin f for their safe return.
Yet the Isrealis have been arming their teachers, initially in reaction to attacks on schools by terrorists. It’s been very effective.

Where were those concealed weapon deterrents with any of the mass shootings over the past 20 years? 🤷
In every place that wasn’t a gun-free zone.

You do realize that every mass shooting since at least the 1950s in the US, with one exception, has occurred where the general public were prohibited from carrying weapons.

Every mass shooter, with that single exception, has sought out gun free zones.

So, yeah they’ve been very effective since these mass shootings occur where the assailant is assured they will be unopposed.

The VA Tech shooter even brought chains and chained the doors shut to ensure his gun-free zone remained gun-free except for him.

The mall shooter stopped after two victims because a CCW holder confronted him. The CCW holder did not fire because there were people in the background. However, the perpetrator ran into a stairwell and killed himself. Which is typical of the mass shooters, fire until they’re confronted when police finally arrive on scene with firearms.

I think the mass shooters are looking for populated areas, since their intent seems to be to inflict a maximum of damage. I would agree that ‘gun-free zones’ are as useful as telling people to ‘just say no’ to drugs.

In the instance of the mall shooting, was the CCW holder in violation of a ‘gun-free zone?’

I still don’t buy fear motivating people to kill themselves. It seems to be more of a ‘control’ issue; ending on their own terms, as they planned to do.

Yes, we’re all good, even though you and I seem to have a history of ‘misunderstanding’ each other.
Could it possibly be because you seem to use these " " all the time thus inferring some hidden meaning?😃

Could have, but didn’t. Lanza used an AR 15, as did the shooters in the theater, the mall, and against the first responders.
For someone who claims to have a knowledge of firearms I find this statement baffling.

Any hunting rifle could have had the same result.

To lay the blame on the AR-15 is simply a fallacy of sweeping generalization.

Road rage? Imagine the entire civilian population carrying guns. Not everyone is safety conscious, or rational enough, in my honest opinion. We have 300 million guns in this country. The solution is not to add more, in my opinion and the Cardinal’s, the USCCB, the Holy See, etc.
So it’s not just that you want to limit magazine capacity and AR-15’s but you actually want concealed carry eliminated as well.

What else haven’t you told us?

Does it matter if lives were saved?

I trust the system of government we have. For years doomsayers have preached the end because of elections. We the people are the government, and the majority rules.
Attorney General Eric Holder can imagine a scenario in which it would be constitutional to carry out a drone strike against an American on American soil, he wrote in a letter to Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

You go ahead and trust away, I’ll arm myself.😉

And this teacher is wryly smiling at the notion of a kids classroom being “sealed.”

Some school you have in mind.:coffeeread:

I am increasingly convinced that Cardinal Dolan really hit the nail on the head when he talked of two pasths of Culture.:amen:
Unless this “Italian” teacher has taught in an American school, he can smile all he wants but his opinions are just that…opinions.
The school I have in mind is probably not very different from your home unless you leave the doors open and put a sign next to it stating “come on in, I’m unarmed”. I find people get sarcastic when an Idea that just might work but they don’t agree with because they’d rather keep an emotional argument going.
Just curious, have you ever been in a school in our country?🍿:tiphat::onpatrol:

And why is a Frenchman so fond of using English humor?

Wrong again. Ask me direct questions and I’d be glad to elaborate.

Well, there are plenty of populated areas which aren’t gun free zones where mass shooters haven’t operated. For example, major sporting events where even if the public isn’t armed there is a police presence. Again, the Aurora shooter chose a theater with a posted gun free policy that was farther than three or four other theaters which weren’t gun free…

I absolutely agree with you. The vast majority of these killers continue until confronted and usually end up killing themselves when police arrive vice risking being wounded and captured. The Aurora shooter was a rare exception. I agree, it’s not fear, their death and avoiding dealing with the aftermath is part of the plan from the beginning. It’s why police tactics have shifted in dealing with active shooters. Before Colombine it was wait for the SWAT team to arrive, now it’s first man on scene go in ASAP.

Does it matter if lives were saved?
I assume the causes of those decisions by mass shooters does matter and should be discussed to try and understand motivations.
