  1. yes, really.
  2. surely, you know that he has increased the debt more in his first term than Bush in two terms. Obama is an overachiever… cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57400369-503544/national-debt-has-increased-more-under-obama-than-under-bush/
  3. if you aren’t voting Obama, then I am happy to hear it. You could just say that…unless you just want to do a head fake by just stating the obvious - that I don’t know.
I am not one to claim to know it all of course.
What’s a head fake? never heard the term.

It’s a sports term…you move your head to make it appear that you are moving one direction, but then you go the other way. Imagine a 1-on-1 basketball situation, where you have to get by the other player. 🙂

No dog whistling required when you head fake. 😃

A head fake is using your head position to telegraph intended movement opposite to your actual movement. We tend to look where we want to go, so looking one way, while moving in another throws a blocker or other opponent off guard.

In boxing, for example, and other martial arts, you watch your opponents eyes for a few reasons, but one of them is that if you look directly where you intend to strike, then you “telegraph” your intent to your opponent.

Oh!
I cannot imagine the basket ball play, My only sport is tennis.
Let me give it to you straight then, in 2008 I did not vote for either candidate.
In 012 I am seriously thinking of Obama because I am supposing Romney, like Ronald Reagan changed his mind because he figured if he didn’t he would not have a pray.
Peace, Carlan

Well, I hope you reconsider, Carlan. I’ve studied up on both candidates - read their books and/or biographies. I’ve read up on Romney’s past and read critiques of him from both sides. He is genuinely pro-life, though not 100%, which is much more than we can say for Obama. Additionally, he is much better qualified on business and economic issues, which is really important right now. Finally, he is genuinely a good, charitable person who has done much, direct work with people who needed financial help. When he speaks of community and neighbors helping neighbors, it isn’t just talk. I truly believe he is the better choice for our country.

Well, Mr Romney was for it before he said he was against it,just as Ronald reagan was.He signed a bad law on abortion when Governor of California before Roe/wade and altho’ he did , later as President,do some good stuff on abortion, he never the less appointed Sandra Day Oconner to the Supreme Court.I know it because our family lived in California all those years ago.
Never read up on Romney, however I have watched him campaign the past year, I have observed that he is a fibber, tells fibs a lot, so does the house rep.(please do not excuse it, with "oh thats just politics(They maybe faithful church goers good husband and fathers but i would not choose them for leaders of our Country’s common good. Peace, Carlan

So,in essence, what you are saying is ,you would rather vote for someone who is without a doubt, the MOST pro abortion president ever,as opposed to one who had a change of heart and now is pro life in pretty much all instances?

Just for the heck of it, let’s have some fun with numbers.
It is reported, and let’s for the moment accept that it’s accurate. that Mitt Romney made $20 million in 2010, I believe.

In my little area of the country a well-paid common worker makes about $30,000 per year. So, if my math is correct, Mr. Romney made the same amount as 666.667 workers in my area. And when it comes to the rich, Mr. Romney is a comparative lightweight.

If all were taxed evenly he would pay 667 times the amount in tax of one single worker.

Of course the rich pay 88% of the income taxes…they have most of the money.

The question remains…are they paying a fair share of their income. Just a curiosity…what was the marginal rate for the wealthy under that Republican miracle worker, Ronald Reagan?

John
Old Celt, what you do not understand is the money Romney made is taxed as income to the corporation before it is distributed, and then taxed to the recipient… It is double taxed.

I do not believe in taxing success.

I certainly do understand that. Personally, I believe that corporate taxes are a shell game…those taxes are merely passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices/rates.

The point remains, the rich pay most of the federal income tax because they control most of the wealth. But, are they paying a truly fair percentage of their income.

The top rate now is 35%…while that is not the lowest it has ever been, it is low .For most of the Reagan years it was 50%.

Just like all the “freebies” the federal government gives out. That’s just the way things work in the real world

Yet the effective rate stayed the same because a lot of legitimate deductions were removed or limited.

You are correct, it was slightly higher in some years under Reagan, but not worth quibbling. The question still remains, are the wealthy paying a fair amount, considering their resources?

You probably should. It helps, if you want to be an informed voter. You could just focus on Reagan, I guess, but I don’t think he’s running.

Your “fibber” issue could very well be applied to Obama. Perhaps, you just don’t see his fibs. “The teacher never told you anything but white lies, but you never see the lies that you believe.”

No, I am not a one issue voter.
Only God in the end will judge a persons true heart.
I hate all mortal sin that separates us from the Fathers will, abortion, all sin which causes it, divorce and remarriage, a homosexuals sins against purity as well as the sins against Chastity by all of us, marriage between two people of the same sex is not the natural order of God creation and the list goes on. When we see wrong being done and recognize it and we point it out but as I have already said ,God in the end is our ultimate judge…we pray. Peace,Carlam

I don’t believe we should soak the rich for being successful, especially to pay for the “sins” of a corrupt (as I see it) and ineffectual government.

I believe government policy should be to encourage growth to increase jobs. The Great Society programs of LBJ have done nothing but increase poverty, fatherless families, and generations of people dependent on welfare. It was well-intentioned but an utter failure. Just like the housing projects.

I believe government should encourage individuals helping the poor by increasing the charitable donation allowable deduction.

I also think the mortgage interest deduction should be eliminated. I don’t see way people who are well off enough to own a home should get such a tax break.

Ahhhhhhhh yes, part of the human condition. But in this particular case my gut does not tell me to do what the man asks,“Trust Me”.
Peace, Carlan

I am still confused:confused:Your response makes even less sense,in that you stated you are against all the very issues Obama endorses  You seem to be hung up on what you see as social justice issues, which are specious, because Obama hasn’t done anything to improve the plight of the disenfranchised. He,along with the Dems as a whole merely exploit them for their owm political gain. Also,if we don’t begin by defending the most innocent among us,life in the womb, the slippery slope is all life will become less valuable.Just look to China to see how little they regard life both inside and outside the womb.😦

It’s a gut thing…no logic required.

As if the ideological left has EVER “played nice.”

:rotfl::rotfl::rolleyes:

Nice try, Cardinal Dolan.

P.S. - Isn’t this code for, “Don’t say anything bad about the minority President?” That has always seemed the deepest sort of racism to me.
I'd love to know how people wrapped up in soap operas and American Idol type shows learn the TRUTH about Obama without a hard-hitting campaign. I think that Cardinal Dolan is woefully naive, and he is showing a willingness to compromise with evil. IMO, the church should NOT "turn the other cheek" after being struck with a baseball bat by Obama and his minions. This Democrat convention will feature the ugliest, meanest, most desperate speeches in American history. Watch it if you don't believe me. Rob
