An Apology…to Mysty101

I got a little mixed up, my post was intended for
JCPhoenix…Suz I wrote you in instead, nothing new to you so
it wouldn’t make much sense now would it to tell ya again… :o

It may take me awhile to get it together meanwhile I hope
JCPhoenix will take a peek anyway…sorry

God bless,
Elaine
It’s OK Elaine and Mysty…I got it! 🙂 But thanks for the clarification anyway just in case I was confused as this is often the case for me.

Can I just say it is really wonderful reading all the posts in here? This really has to be one of the friendliest threads I’ve visited in awhile. 😃

God Bless you all!

Isn’t Our Lord Wonderful! He just seems to make these things happen.

Actually, all we are doing is sharing our experiences with the Lord, and not engaging in foolish arguments and we get Blessed!

Could anything be easier?

Please pray for me Thurs. thru Sunday. I will be going to a Charismatic Retreat and healing Mass with my hubby, oldest son and Grandson. If I could have the desire of my heart, my daughter in law would show up and be with my son. Our family would experience a wonderful healing.

Well, at least you all know how to pray for us. I would not be unhappy if God would heal my breathing problem as well.

Count me in Roberta.

One of my favorite songs.
Come Holy Spirit we need you.
Come Holy Spirit we pray.
Come with your sweet healing powers.
Come in your own special way.

Come like a spring in the dessert.
Come to the weary of souls.
Come with your strength and you power.
Touch us and make us whole.

Glory be to the Father.
Glory be to the Son.
Glory be to the Spirit.
Now and Forever.
Amen

I just want to say how thankful I am that our Lord has unified our charismatic brothers and sisters. Gods Spirit is a Spirit of unity and Love. I praise God that I have the support of this body of christians. Thank you Jesus. 👍

Thank you robertaf, for starting this thread. I must agree with SPOKENWORD that it’s so good to see unity, and the love you have for each other. Beautiful, really.

Thank you Lord, for these people. Thank you, Holy Spirit.

Bless you all!

Good Morning Church

Just wanted to post a Praise Report for first night of our Retreat.
It Was Awesome! Abbott David is leading it.
Also want to let you know I was prayed over for a healing of my breathing problem. But the best thing is that although my daughter in law did not show up last night, my son spoke to her and she is coming tonight for the Healing Mass. Thank you Lord for hearing the prayers of these beautiful people.
Please continue praying for complete reconcilation of this marriage.

Hi Everyone, what a great thread!!

Two things I want to share
  1. Please lift up in prayers the leaders of the various Charismatic Catholic Covenant Communties worldwide, who are in conference this week and weekend in Fuiggi, Italy. About a dozen men from our Community are there right now.
A link to the group sponsoring this conference, which happens every two years: catholicfraternity.net/
  1. I invite you all to join us as our Community, the Christian Community of God’s Delight in Dallas TX (yes we are Catholic) hosts our weekly prayer meeting, Sundays at 4 PM, 4500 W. Davis, Dallas. Lots of great music and praise, teachings, word gifts, and more. We have various inistries on odd weeks of the month for youth as well (1st and 3rd weekends)
I was very active on these boards this past summer but have been away, busy teaching full time in our Catholic school. This school is sponsored and funded by a Charismatic Catholic group. We have been called the “most Catholic Catholic school” in our Diocese. We offer daily Mass, monthly confessions, First Friday Adoration for the whole day, and so much more.

To see me, lick on faculty and staff, then on 8th grade. :>) It’s nice to be back.

Blessings to all!

Dear friends

I do not know anything of the charismatic movement in the Catholic church, butI thought I would pop in here and say that you are part of the Catholic church and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The charisms of the Holy Spirit are what sustain us in our faith, without the Holy Spirit we could not move one inch, in prayer or anything else. Therefore I think you have every place in Catholicism. Forgive me of my ignorance of you, I am not aware of any of your activities or your charisms, but I know the Holy Spirit, He indwells me and is the love and heart of my soul, therefore, keep to what He teaches you and you will not go wrong, not what our will desires, not the fanciful or the extraordinary, but the supernatural and natural , this is the premise of the Holy Spirit. As people of faith we are as much concerned with the ‘unseen’ as well as the seen. If we lived by the material and what we see, spirituality would have very little use in our faith and without spirituality, there would be no need for the Holy Spirit, who brings the age of FIRE. Sets souls alight for Jesus and God , and how Jesus longed for this! You will be opposed, in opposition be careful to adhere to Rome, if you do this the charisms of the Holy Spirit will never be denied. xxx

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

What does “slain in the spirit” mean?

I have only heard Protestants on tv say this… I always thought this was a heretical idea since protestants used it

Well Katolik, I don’t consider mysep a heretic and I’d much prefer calling it “Resting in the Spirit”. I didn’t believe in it at first as w/ tongues… I went to a healing service back in 1976 and people were going up to the altar as in the old days for Communion standing along in a line…I was exhausted as I had been sitting in the pew for a least 3 hours to please someone who had asked me just to come and see…
My back ached, I had a pain in my neck and I certainly was not disposed to this “thing” the priest approached me…and just barely touched my forehead and I fell backwards like a feather. I new exactly what was going on…only I just wanted to stay in this most beautiful peace. I was helped back to my pew and continued to “rest in the Spirit”…then I began to sob and sob and sob…what a tremendous release.
Anyway, I know it’s real.
Annunciata:)

Thank you for this beautiful expression of the Holy Spirit’s Love. You have a very beautiful spirit and and understanding of the Charismatatic Renewal, even though you say you know nothing about it. All I can say, after reading your post, is that God teaches us what He wants us to know and he does it in mysterious ways. Your post could have been written by someone who has spent many years in the Charismatic Renewal.
HE never ceases to amaze me with HIS GRACE!

I find it wonderful to find a thread that is in fellowship and not in strife, and amazed that the strifeful ones fill up quickly and are so mean-spirited!

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues is definitely Catholic for it was given to the Apostolic Catholic Church on the day of Pentecost. It can be found in the book of Acts and in writings at least through the 7th century. It was normative for the Church for a time but was lost maybe due to ritualism and sentimental piety or control by an intellectual elite. Whatever, the first pope and bishops received it and passed it on up to a time and then it was lost but now it is renewed.

In April of 1989, in Church, involved in various ministries and organizations, but with my family falling apart and my sanity failing due to 30 years of pornography leading into adultery, it seemed the Church had no answers for me. I had no power over my sin, as ST. Paul says in Romans, ‘I was a slave to sin’.

Then we were introduced to the Baptism of the Holy Spirit which promised power and scripture confirmed this saying that Jesus said ‘to wait for the power from on high’! I received that power and my slavery to sin was broken, it has no power over me anymore like it did. Instantly I was turned into a lover of Jesus and free indeed! I know I am a sinner and in need of grace but I also know of the power to overcome sin. I also know that all the sacraments and traditions laid the groundwork for the release of the Holy Spirit in my life!
By praying in tongues for days on end my wife was able to forgive me and we weathered a terrible storm through the power of the Holy Spirit!

Through water baptism and confirmation we receive the Holy Spirit but He must be released by the act of our wills. Scripture says ‘How will they know unless they hear’. We did not know until we heard and then we used our wills to receive what was promised by Jesus. He promises us ‘that all things work together for good to those that love Him and are called to His purposes’.

I have experienced bad leadership in the Charismatic community in places and I think that has given it a bad name to some people. We have been in protestant churches and home churches since August of 1989, sorry we have been part of the bad example, but by the leading and grace of the Lord we are back now with the understanding of what a gift it truly is to be part of the Church that Jesus commissioned.

My prayer requests; first to lead my children back into the Church, shamefully we have not set a good example for the Church but hopefully instilled a love for the Lord and second, our diocese tolerates the CCR, but I pray for an outpouring of an understanding of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit so people’s wills can be freed to receive and release the Spirit. The only Life in the Spirit seminar I have ever gone to was last year and most people seemed confused, presenters and participants alike. We have a hard time explaining why it is not directly a sacrament but I think it is. It has been said to be a release of the charisms imparted at water baptism but to me it is the same as confirmation or what confirmation should be. Whatever and however we finally understand it and explain it, it is real in scripture and in experience, it is really from the Father and the Son, and it gives glory to God by leading us to Jesus. Thanks for “listening”.

I shall restraint my self… yet…:
  1. Slain in the spirit is unbiblical and a Protestant invention
  2. Baptism of the Holy Spirit as believed by Charismaticist are contrary to the Christian faith.
