Listen folks, this is bringing into plain view for me something painfully lacking in the U.S. and in Canada.

There is a pressing need for law reform around abortion.

But there is no one to vote for.

That’s the problem, what’s the solution?

Who thinks this is a new thread? Let me know, and I will start one.

I really can’t remember it was on the news. On Fox I think. remember kerry said he personally does not agree with abortion…like it or not…
Kerry said that. And he also has voted to promote, fund, and legalize abortion every chance he has had. He did not vote against partial-birth abortion nor did he vote for the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. He said he would not appoint a judge that was opposed to Roe V. Wade. He vigorously defended a woman’s right to “choose” killing a baby at pro-“choice” gatherings around the nation.

So when Kerry, or other Democrats, SAY they do not agree with abortion, I suggest this is simply political deception.

Whether he “personally” disagrees does not matter if he publicly states he will support abortion.

vern humphrey:
Actually, what the Pope and congregations said was that if ALL candidates are pro-abortion, we should make a proportional calculation, and vote for the lesser of two evils.

The Pope, nor any Vatican authority EVER said there is anything that would justify voting for a pro-abortion candidate if there is a pro-life choice.
Ah, Vern. The most urgent question of all is where can we get a pro-life choice? Seriously. I know we are talking about a paradigm shift, but so what. We have had paradigm shifts before. Who is the person to get behind?

Ani Ibi:
Putting ‘but’ in the same sentence as “I am against abortion” is not ok with me and it is not ok with the Church.

Abortion is about absolute harm. No benefit exists which could counterbalance an absolute harm.

Let’s put our cards on the table.

Are you against abortion?
Are you against voting for pro-abortion politicians?

Yes or no. No buts please.
Yes

I say Mel Gibson for President. In fact he can be Prime Minister as well. D-oh! Duck Ani. Here come the Mounties…

well stated. I agree 100%

Their numbers are growing.

Winthrop Rockefeller, currently Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas and candidate for Governor in the next election was at one time mildly pro-choice. But he as seen the light.

He has eight children, two of them (who are adopted) with Down’s Syndrome. I have spoken with him about these children and seen how he loves them.

THAT is pro-life.

OK. Excellent. Are people up for a new thread on which we could discuss who is out there who would make good candidates or even who could make a new political lobby group or even a new political party for

pro-life?

I am not very experienced in American politics or in Canadian politics for that matter. So I would be up for learning quite a lot. Up for it with me? Votes please.

Catholic Democrats: If Casey (the only prolife dem I immediately recognize) was running against Hillary for President?

Who would you vote for in a primary?? And why…

Casey Who. Dont’ know him or her, but I would vote for him or her on the basis that the person supports democratic platforms but does not support abortion.

And this goes for any potential candiate, party affiliation aside. Just this past weekend, U.S. State Department Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, identified herself as “mildly pro-choice”, when positioning herself for a possible run for office in next elections. She has just disqualified herself as a candidate for my consideration (hopefully she does not come down to the lesser of two evils).

Democrat Bill Casey Jr is running for the Penn. Senator seat in '06 opposite Rick Santorum.

Two Catholic pro-life senators!! Should be very interesting.

It is just the facts on the ground: We vote for the best candidate, OR we vote against the one we think least of.

A lot of democrats voted for Bush this time because they just couldn’t get Kerry…on many issues–despite the (D) by his name.

Apart from the abortion issue, I didn’t get Kerry either. I went back and read all that stuff (I’m Canadian) from Nam and him whistleblowing and everything. I just couldn’t really find anything to fault him with. I was tremendously suspicious of people who might want to ride on his coat tails though. What in his career might have been not so good?

How did Kerry get so many people behind him?

Do you think Gen Wesley Clark is finished?

Can you answer these questions, because as a Canadian I don’t have a lot of friends who know diddlysquat about U.S. politics. So nobody to talk donkey and elephant with up here.

John Kerry was involved in the Winter Soldier project – a collection of “Viet Nam veterans” who had precious few veterans of any stripe and almost none from Viet Nam when he joined. They had produced a tissue of lies, which he read into the record in front of a congressional committee, thus giving legitimacy to their lies.

His fellow veterans – especially those who actually served with him – resented this.

Those of us who suffered because of what he did consider he owes us an apology. What he did fueled the hated we experienced. On my second tour in Viet Nam, my wife was pregnant with her first child. It was twenty years before she told me what such people did to her – they singled her out, knowing her husband was in combat, and tried to make her cry by chanting that they hoped her husband would die in Viet Nam.

Hatred. Look at the posts you see from Democrats on these forums – full of hatred for Bush, for Republicans, and for everything else. But no positive ideas of any stripe.

I know Wes personally. I was in the Army with him.

We can’t always have a Sir Michael Jackson around to control him, you know.
