Hi
What does Honoring your Mother have to do with worshiping her?
God didn’t say to worship your Mother.
Dave.
We don’t have a problem differentiating between the two. Do you?

First of all, I don’t know of any Protestants who pray to their dead family members, and actually the catholic church holds that Mary never died despite scriptual evidence. If I did know of someone doing that I would say that what they were doing is wrong.
Well, Hey I’m a Protestant and when I was young and my Great Grandmother died, I prayed to her and told her I missed her and loved her. When you go to someones grave and talk to the grave are you not doing the same thing? Can you be assured that no one has ever gone to a family members/friends grave and spoke to the grave as if they were speaking to the person?

Hey Spoken, when I kneel down to pray, what circumference must I clear around myself to ensure I am not bowing down to anything?
Hi John, just religious statues that are in front of you 😉 God Bless

When I kneel down at my bedside to pray, does that mean I’m worshiping my bed?😃

If anyone tells me that we Catholics worship Mary, I tell them that since we are to honor our mother and father, shouldn’t we especially honor the mother who gave birth to our savior? If they have a problem, I tell them we should stop celebrating Mother’s Day.
Hi Utah, Many do make their bed their God. In that case Yes, they would be worshipping their bed. 😃 God Bless

Church Militant:
Spoken…you should be confused (a lack of sweet tea in your diet no doubt…) You just misquoted the graven image part of 1st commandment. And yes it’s the 1st (you knew this…don’t smile and play dumb w/me my friend.) for Catholics.
Here’s the relevent parts of Exodus 20:4 & 5 :
“4 Thou shalt not make to thyself a graven thing, nor the likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, nor of those things that are in the waters under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not adore them, nor serve them: I am the Lord thy God,…” So…since (as I’ve pointed out many times to n-Cs on here!) It is clear that the prohibition is not iconoclastic as you preach, but based upon the intent of the one making and using the image. And since **NO CATHOLIC EVER kneels down before any image to worship it we are not idolators at all. We are not stupid enough to confuse a mass of rock, plaster, metal, or any other created thing with the almighty and ever living God of the Universe. ** So you can pack up this argument and put it in the garbage can where it rightfully belongs my friend.

The Blessed Virgin is never worshipped, but only revered as is due to her unique status in all of human history.

I’m sort of disappointed in you Spoken…you KNOW better than this!
Pax vobiscum,
Hi C. M. I dont know what got into me. I think you served me decafinnated tea. God Bless

Catholic Dude:
I have something for all your Prots out there:

Come on Prots risk Hellfire and say O Blessed Virgin!!! Its right there, how many times have you talked about Her as some sack of potatoes and it NEVER NEVER EVEN CROSSED YOUR MIND to ever call Her BLESSED!!! when it says to!!!
Lord have mercy on us, we fear you, your Mother is Blessed!!!

Also I suggest you refresh yourselves with good old Proverbs 31 (all of it), here is the best part:

Praise and Honor O Blessed Virgin!!! From GENERATION TO GENERATION!!!

Hi
You, CM and tnt have a problem with assuming things don’t you?
Others may be but as for Me and the church I am a member of are not Mary haters. Mary is Blessed among woman. Go and read my post in, Another thought about Mary’s sinlesness. post #13.
Just because I don’t believe that Mary was sinless or an eternal virgin, doesn’t mean I hate, disrespect or bash her like you keep throwing out there.
In Him and Only Him, Dave.

“Full” means completely filled–no room for sin. All have sinned except Jesus and the Blessed mother. The rest of us will require some form of purgation. 👍

Hi Mickey, Are you saying we have room for sin at the time of our death? God Bless

Hi Spokenword
I was not refuring to you. I agree Christians should not bow down to statues. As for those claiming we bash Mary, I was refuring to Catholic Dude, Church Militant and TNT.
In Him and Him Only, Dave.

We are called to keep God on our minds at all times–every waking moment. (some saints were able to pray as they slept). Unfortunately, the marketplace distracts us from this goal.

Now, if I am thinking about my job, and I look down to see the cross hanging from my neck, I think of God and say a prayer. If I’m at home, and worried about all the bills I just received in the mail, I look up to see one of my icons of the Holy Theotokos (mother and child), and I think of God and say a prayer. If I’m driving my car and thinking about where I made that wrong turn, I see the medal of St Benedict hanging from my mirror, and I think of God and say a prayer. If I’m cutting the lawn and thinking about how hungry I am, I see the statue of the Blessed mother in my garden, and I think of God and say a prayer. Please don’t tell me that I bow down to and worship statues, SW. This is offensive.

😦

Hi Mickey, I was wasnt speaking YOU personally. I know some do. I did it myself. Jesus says we are to pray in Spirit And Truth. I dont need any statues to bring me in focus with the Spirit of God. 😦 God Bless
