Maybe it’s just me, but I’d put the Five Non-Negotiables ahead of the Chick-Fil-A controversy. Which is not to say that it isn’t more important to some than what I’d do. 🙂
I guess you could consider government threats dictating a stance on one of the 5 NN’s to be as important as the NN itself?🤷

I have ZERO animosity toward Chick Fil A. I’ve said all through this thread that they have a perfect right to believe as they choose, speak as they choose and run their business as they choose. I don’t share their dominionist beliefs, and I do have concerns about them; but that doesn’t mean I hold animosity or hatred in my heart for them. I also think their chicken and fries are soggy and tasteless, but that doesn’t require animosity either. 😉

However, I also have ZERO animosity towards people who do NOT believe as I do and I support their right to believe as they choose, speak as they choose and run their businesses as they choose. As Catholics we are also supposed to hold no animosity towards those that do NOT share our faith-even those who hold diametrically opposing views. Supporting the rights of someone who does not share my faith does NOT mean I agree with them-which seems to be a common misconception here at CAF.

You can completely disagree with someone and still accept their inherent value as human beings, love them as Jesus did, and support their rights as Americans to express their opinions. As we do that, we find the common ground that allows us to be free to express our opinions and run our lives the way we choose.
So, then, I guess we can count on your show of support of CfA on Wednesday. As a returned Catholic, I’m sure you want to show support for their support of traditional marriage. Even if you don’t like the food, you could buy a bottle or two of their water, and if you don’t care for the taste of their water, us poor people would receive it with thanksgiving.

I do believe some threats were made about permits for new restaurants?🤷
By whom? Three, or was it just one, of those mayors? And, how long did that last? And, did they have the support of liberal organizations like the ACLU?

Making a mountain out of not even a molehill. The new Catholic cause - not the plight of Catholics in war-torn Syria, not the persecution of Christians in Sudan, not the loss of vocations, not abortion, but a chicken sandwich? Has it come to this?

Why is that funny? Did CFA ever say they hated gay people?
They are against gay marriage-corporate dollars have been donated to anti-gay marriage organizations. Disney is a gay-friendly company with a higher than average number of gay employees and some of those gay CM’s have gotten married in states that allow it. Chick Fil A was supporting those folks by offering them low cost meals while condemning them with the profits.

There was definitely a drop off in sales for our local outlet this past Thursday. Nobody at my office did their usual order, straight or gay.

How many threats by government to shut down free enterprise would it take for you to care?🤷

Why would I buy food that is not only unhealthy but soggy and tasteless just to prove a point? Better to take the money I would waste on that and put it in the basket at Mass. Maybe some other Catholics might think about that too.

Talk is cheap.

The day the cops come to padlock the doors of chicken restaurants and haul their employees off to jail, I’ll care.

Why don’t you try their salads? They’re actually pretty good…

Why don’t I cook my own food and donate more to my Church?
That’s what I’ve been saying. One can save money and have a more healthful meal by cooking at home. And free up discretionary funds in the bargain!

But it’s not just talk - a Chicago alderman is preventing CFA from building in his ward.
