So you take no issue with the fact that an unemployed medical student can buy military grade ballistic gear, two Glocks, a shotgun, an assault riffle, and six thousand rounds of ammunition without anyone so much as batting an eyelash?
No. What do you have against unemployed medical students?

Again, what is your solution to getting rid of the 270 million legal firearms currently in circulation?

2263 - 2265 and 2268 - 2269 Catechism of the Catholic Church
all it talked about was a persons right to self defense, but notice it didnt say anything against gun control.
"Gun control: Church firmly, quietly opposes firearms for civilians

VATICAN CITY – The Catholic Church’s position on gun control is not easy to find; there are dozens of speeches and talks and a few documents that call for much tighter regulation of the global arms trade, but what about private gun ownership?

The answer is resoundingly clear: Firearms in the hands of civilians should be strictly limited and eventually completely eliminated."

I’m not proposing a total prohibition on gun ownership so thats not my problem to solve.

yes, because we all know how safe the streets were in the wild west. and i ask you again, nam e atime that mass shooter was thwarted by individual gun owners.
New Life Church in Colorado Springs, 2007.

Gun owners stop crimes every single day.

So a feel good solution like banning further sales is the answer? That will drive up the price of used guns, but will make them available none the less. Making laws that don’t work just to feel good is silly and a waste of my dollars as a taxpayer

That’s followed by a footnote that states: “However, we believe that in the long run and with few exceptions – i.e. police officers, military use – handguns should be eliminated from our society.”
It says handguns…not all guns.

The fact that such crimes happen everywhere is not in dispute, however, the frequency of those crimes is greater in nations such as ours with rampant and practically unimpeded gun ownership.
a higher percentage of Switzerland’s population has guns than ours, and they had 36 gun crimes in 2006, which is the equivalent of 1413 here. Guns are not the problem, people are. You speak of gun ownership as though its bad. If a burglar broke into your home I’m sure that owning a gun would sound quite appealing to you. You would be able to defend yourself.

Atheism is the problem? You can’t honestly be serious. That statement is about as asinine as the people yelling for gun control (because you know criminals follow the law). Secularism is not the problem and strict gun control is not the answer.
Secularism may not be the problem, but children and young people being raised without religious or ethical training is.
Today, many (note, I did not say most!) parents leave all ethical training to the public schools…need I say more?

I’d question why and how they’re buying $20,000 worth of guns, ammunition, and military grade ballistic gear for starters.
What is “military grade ballistic gear”? A molle vest? You guys would have a more convincing argument if you had any inkling about the topic.

It’s none of your business or mine.
It is my business because its an issue of public safety. Choosing to be ignorant of such activities is why 12 people died and 58 were injured in a Colorado movie theatre. A warranted investigation would have prevented that crime.
So a feel good solution like banning further sales is the answer?
Again, I’m not advocating a complete prohibition on gun ownership.

I don’t know what we will think if this Adam Lanza had sorts of emotional or mental illness problems. And it’s starting to look that way. Medications? We will see.

ugh please not the whole legalize heavy ordnance argument again. These weapons are crew served and not useful for personal defense.
you have to be intellectually consistent. this just shows me that conservatives and libertarians dont know what they want and they dont know what best for society…
