Back in the hippie days of the 70s, I went to Catalina with my parents. We stayed too long and missed the last boat back, so we had to take a hotel. It was called the Hotel Hermosa, which at that time didn’t have bathrooms in every room, just a common bathroom down the hall. We got no sleep as drunken revelers traipsed noisily up and down the hall all night for that one bathroom 🚽. Good times 😠.

But it was the cheapest hotel on the island, for obvious reasons 😒, and money was tight back then, not like it is for you kids today with your ten dollar Starbucks 😠. But we were free spirits in those days, sharing bathrooms and diseases.

It’s actually worth going for a few days if you can swing it. Lots to see that isn’t initially apparent.

Also, depending on the weather, you can sometimes get a nice view of the mainland.

Inland Catalina is quite interesting as well.

Hey! Isle Royale is just a hop, skip, and a quick jet boat ride from the Canadian border! Great for those “quick getaways”, if you get my drift! 😉

Sounds like it’s near Frostbite Falls, of Rocky and Bullwinkle fame.

On Easter Day the Australian branch of the Mudgies will be complaining about
  • Having to change our clocks back, after staying up late for the Easter Vigil. (The first Sunday of April is Change of Daylight Savings here).
  • It’s April Fools day and no one has done anything clever to amuse us yet
  • And, finally, the lack of :coffee: that we need help us face all this.
😠😠😠

Santa Catalina looks like a nice holiday island. However, I can’t face surf music first thing in the morning, before my :coffee:

😡

Dude, there’s no surfing :surfing_man: at Catalina. My son has gone diving there several times, however. You can see the Garibaldi, the California state fish 🐟

Sorry, I forget the CAF prohibition against using unfamiliar languages. “Dude” is the Californian equivalent of the Australian term “mate.”
I need a holiday 😠
Well. come to Catalina! :flight_departure::flight_arrival:⛴️🏝️⛴️:flight_departure::flight_arrival: (there’s your trip, all planned out)

Well, I was just wondering if the tickets were bought and the hotel booked. I’m guessing not.😡

Someday, I will visit Michigan.
It sounds an amazing place. There was a drama movie made in that area somewhere I think ,probably lots.
Can anyone think of movies featuring lake Mitchigan ?
I think I might start travelling if relationship issues ain’t resolved. Its very good for clearing the cobwebs ,
and dust and heart etc.

Road to Perdition with Tom Hanker chief

Then there’s the Lake Michigan Triangle, a low budget Bermuda Triangle.
