I think Obama can hold his own when it comes to delivering a speech. That’s what got him elected to begin with.
He has failed over and over again to give that galvanizing speech when the pressure was on. We will see.

One thing the Clinton speech does is that it raises the bar for Obama. Now people will compare Obama’s speech with Clinton’s.

There is a strict rule in politics: Don’t upstage the candidate

Clinton may have broken that rule tonight.
I wouldn’t worry too much. Obama is great orator.

Endorsements tend not to matter much historically, for either side. Even the “Big Dog’s”. His endorsement wasn’t enough for Hillary to win the 2008 primary.
True. Endorsements normally mean more to the person giving the endorsement than the person receiving it. I think that is true for the speech tonight as well. You see, we are talking about Clinton, not Obama.

The interesting thing is that they have two very different but complimentary styles. Clinton’s speeches are typically loaded with reason, facts, numbers, and statistics. Obama’s usually appeal to emotion. Two very powerful methods of public persuasion that can, and I think will be, a winning combination.

We will see. With the job situation the way it is. Words don’t mean that much anymore.

I don’t know I could be wrong. Obama may rally the country behind him with what he says tomorrow night. Only question I have is why didn’t he do that during the State of the Union, or the myriod of other speeches he as made over the last few years?

I know there is hope he will pull himself up by his bootstraps one of these days and actually lead this nation. But it hasn’t happened yet

A speaker of Clinton’s abilities could have made a convincing case for Romney as well, if he chose to. However, I’m sure that for most people on this Forum, the greater magic is his case for Obama.
That’s true but Republican commentator Steve Schmidt said tonight he wishes they had one but they don’'t he said.

Could be. It certainly wasn’t his experience or abilities. 🙂

I’m not sure a good speech will overcome his first term failure. Also, beware any technical glitches in his TelePrompTer. It could turn into one of his…um…er…um…less…um…hold on, hold on…um…er…stellar…uh…speeches.

You sure are quoting a lot of obscure “Republican commentators” tonight. Who are tied to losing campaigns.

I agree EmperorNapoleon.

I don’t know if most of you were watching coverage of Bill Clinton on FOX or how many were watching CNN as I was. But Wolf Blitzer said that may have been the best speech he has ever heard Bill Clinton give in his life. And a Republican commentator and consultant Alex Castellanos said that probably just re-elected Barack Obama. Amazing speech!

Who are these “Republican commentators” you keep bringing up? Where did they find them? Rent-A-Commentator?

That is probably one of the most biased “fact checks” I’ve seen. I mean, countering his remarks regarding the Romney/Ryan fact check posters with the Monica Lewinsky affair? Thats just a cheap shot that has nothing to do with anything he said tonight.

Because you don’t make the big speech when its so far away from election time that everyone will forget about it by then. Anything could happen between then and now.

Steve Schmidt is one of the token Republicans on MSNBC. .
People need to understand that MSNBC is for all intense and purposes a communication arm of the DNC. There are certain shows like that for the RNC on FOX (Sean Hanity for one) but not all the shows. That isn’t true about MSNBC. The entire line up is full of DNC talking points. It is best to steer clear of that channel if you want objective news.
