Well, I hope he reminds the DNC that Abortion is a sin! “Gay Marriage” is a sin! Don’t get me started on that nest of vipers.

Cognitive Disonance, indeed.

The host committee for the Democratic National Convention is raising a number of eyebrows after choosing to proceed with featuring Islamic “Jumah” prayers for two hours on the Friday of its convention, though Democrats earlier denied a Catholic cardinal’s request to say a prayer at the same event.

Here is a screenshot from the DNC web site:

And from the Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs website:

On August 31st, 2012, Labor Day weekend, BIMA will be hosting an open air Jumah Prayer at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jumah Prayer will be followed by a number of other programs and events relative to the American Muslim plight, which will include a Banquet with special invited guest, an Islamic Issues Conference, an Islamic Cultural Festival and Halal Entertainment for all ages.
I always like finding the source material.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but I just saw it a few minutes ago. It seems that the Diocese of Charlotte is making a statement to DNC convention-goers 🙂
Mere steps away from the site of the upcoming Democratic National Convention, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte has posted two larger-than-life messages about the sanctity of life, marriage and religious liberty – proclaiming the teaching of the universal Church to the thousands of party delegates, visitors and the national media who will descend on Charlotte starting next week.

A six-foot by 10-foot banner will hang from St. Peter’s administrative building, stating: “A Message from the Catholic Church: Religious Liberty, The Soul of Democracy.” This building looks out over The Green between South Tryon and College streets.

A six-foot by 27-foot banner will be posted on a large brick wall behind the church, and will read: “A Message from the Catholic Church: Protect the Unborn, Defend Marriage, Safeguard Religious Liberty.”

He might wish to remind them that the nation kills over a million of the least and most helpless among us every year.

But I think it will just be a closing prayer.

I really respect Cardinal Dolan’s decision in this matter. He is trying to build bridges when it comes to this election. It is similar to the Al Smith dinner episode which I understand there were many objections too.

Regardless, this in no way says that he’s supporting the Democratic Party since he’ll be praying at both conventions. It’s just a prayer, and I’m sure there are some pro-life Catholics (and even pro choice) who are in great need to Christ’s blessing through the blessing Cardinal Dolan will impart.

I hope Cardinal Dolan reminds both parties about the areas they are weak in

Remind the GOp that they need to find ways to care about the poor and immigrants while continuing to promote the culture of life.

For the Dems, get back to where you were before you supported Roe V. Wade. You were just fine before then. don’t support gay marriage or abortion

Catholic News Herald:

I, for one, am glad. We can’t have the clergy tie themselves to partisanship. Especially in this election which is getting nastier by the day. If the same bishop gives the closing prayer at both conventions it will be clear that no endorsement is implied.
If there was partisanship it was NOT on the part of Cardinal Dolan whose original offer to deliver the closing prayer at the DNC was turned DOWN! If you think he was only offering to do the Republican Convention, you would be mistaken.

Apparently the Dems figured out it would be really stupid to diss one of the most powerful and popular Catholics in this country. Not because Cardinal Dolan would have raised the issue but because there was real outrage at the Dem’s original decision.

They have recanted…now if we could just convince them that unborn babies do not deserve to be murdered we’ll have something! Look at the line up of speeches at the DNC…head of Planned Parenthood, head of NARAL, Sandra Fluke the poster girl for “you need to pay for my contraception.” YIKES the Cardinal needs to pray for many souls!

May I humbly remind Cardinal Dolan,
as he preens and pontificates under the spotlights
of the political conventions:
there is really room for only ONE superstar in his religion.
And as the Cardinal addresses and blesses the Republicans and their billionaire buddies,
as he smiles upon those who would destroy Social Security and voucher Medicare to death,
and as he joins with those who readily admit they they “don’t care about the very poor”…
it would be good, it would be very good …for the good Cardinal
to remember -and take to heart- the words of his boss,
who once said “What you do for the least of these you do for me”.
Unless perhaps, the Cardinal is working for someone else these days?
Not only do Politics and Religion not mix:
they bring out the worst in each other.
And they destroy each other.
Where in the world did you come up with those completely erroneous and unnecessarily perjorative comments about the Republican party? It certainly doesn’t sound very humble nor does giving Cardinal Dolan advice seem appropriate.

You are aware that the Democrat party is the party of abortion at any time for any reason right? That their nominee Barack Obama voted multiple times to allow BORN babies to die without giving them any medical aid or help? Do you think there is any defense for that position?

You make specious claims about Republicans but fail to mention that if there is complicity with evil, it is not done by Republicans.

Democrats change their minds and accept Cardinal Dolan’s invitation to pray at their convention

catholicvote.org/discuss/index.php?p=35223

Wonder too what words he will include? I hope words of protection for religious liberty, the unborn and traditional marriage. I suspect Cardinal Dolan’s invitation will n make the pro abortion speakers happy
Shhh. He’s acting out the death of Samson. It’s gonna be great! 😉

If our faith does not inform our politics then we are not living our faith very well.

Kinda hard to justify support for those that are pro abortion they are the least of these for sure.

Cardinal Dolan’s Mahony Moment?
As everyone knows by now, Timothy Cardinal Dolan will be offering the invocation at the DNC Convention.
Many are wondering what he’ll say. Will he mention the unborn?
Let’s recall that Cardinal Roger Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles, prayed at the 2000 Democratic convention for the unborn.
He said, in part:
In the span of just three weeks, our nation’s major political parties will have gathered at their conventions to select their candidates for the upcoming presidential campaign. We pray tonight that your Spirit will inspire all candidates, regardless of party, to embody in their words, actions, and policies values that protect all human life, establish peace, promote justice, and uphold the common good. For it is in you, O God, that we trust.
In You, O God, we trust…that you will keep us ever committed to protect the life and well-being of all people but especially unborn children, the sick and the elderly, those on skid row and those on death row.

I don’t remember a big deal being made of that at the time but I’d expect people will notice this time if Cardinal Dolan does the same. Certainly, the unborn could use everyone’s prayers.

I am so confused by the bishops in the Untied States. I hear in church to support religious liberty and who is trying to take that away?

I think I understand that Catholics are against Abortion and Catholics are against gay marriage.

Aren’t we suppose to try and live our lives like Christ. Does that not include the bishops?

How can members of the Catholic Church or for that matter any Christian support the terrible things that are happening in the United States?

We have politicians who say they are Catholic but support abortion and gay pride and gay marriage how can this be? We have Catholic newspapers and magazines and bishops supporting these self proclaimed catholics.

The Pope should stop Dolan from giving the closing prayer for people who are attacking the Church and Christ. THE CHURCH NEEDS TO TAKE A STAND. Bishops who do not support the Church or the teaching of Christ should be removed. We do not need anymore leaders like Pius the XII that do little or nothing.

I am confused. Am I still Catholic? I try to be Christ like.

TITLE: “President Infanticide: Dem Abortion Platform Does Not Exclude Partial-Birth Abortion”
LINK: breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/08/23/President-Infanticide-Dem-Plank-Partial-Birth

Partial birth abortion is so horrible and so purely evil, does not the failure of Democrats to condemn it tell us all we need to know about that political party?
All Catholics know that Father Pavone and “Priests for Life” are wonderful and do God’s work.
See what they say about this: priestsforlife.org/partialbirth.html

👍

The procedure is performed as follows: First, labor is induced, usually in the fifth or sixth month of pregnancy, sometimes later. Next, the doctor pulls the baby through the birth canal by its legs, delivering the baby completely except for the head. He then thrusts scissors into the baby’s head, opens them to make a larger hole, inserts a vacuum tube, and sucks the brains out of its head. The baby’s skull collapses and the dead baby is disposed of
Obama has defended partial birth abortion. Second Obama term could bring back partial birth abortion

This platform, partial birth abortion. Next platform, post-birth abortion. The party’s love affair with death marches on.

Don’t be confused. The Cardinal offered to give the closing prayer at both conventions. The fact that he gives the closing prayer is not an endorsement of the party or its positions. Most especially, you can be assured that it is not an endorsement of homosexual marriage, abortion, or restrictions on religious liberty. The Cardinal has in fact filed suit against the president to stop the HHS mandate.
