What is up with the lame and lack luster DNC speaker line up? Instead of a who’s who of the Democratic party, it looks more like the who’s who of has beens & beneficiaries of the Democratic party.
Sandra Fluke primetime? Somebody explain that to me. I want to hear from democrats why? Cecile Richards and NARAL’s Nancy Keenan. They will talk about how Obama will protect access to ‘reproductive choice’ and scaremonger that Romney and Ryan want to ban contraception

Eva Longoria, out of touch Hollywood actress and Bill Clinton who is potentially damaging because people will compare his presidency, how he worked with republicans and how the economy was much better in the 90s to the Obama economy. Gallup poll found 34% of democrats are pro life, 47% of independents pro life so why make abortion a central issue? Why make abortion and contraception centre of the DNC. Obama does not want to talk about his record but to go this route is odd and alienating to voters who are men I think

As if Republicans are the only ones with billionaire buddies 🤷

Googling [billionaire democrats] returns about 4,680,000 results, including:
George Soros
Warren Buffett
Ted Turner
Steven Spielberg
Qualcomm founder Irwin Jacobs
Boston Properties CEO and New York Daily News owner Mortimer Zuckerman
real estate mogul and former candidate for U.S. Senate Jeff Greene
retired chairman/CEO of Loral Corp. Bernard Schwartz
co-founder and current chairman of Dish Network Charles Ergen
Dreamworks founder/CEO Jeff Katzenberg
and plenty of others.
Is there anything wrong with being a billionaire? And, sure, Republican billionaires have billionaire buddies just like Democratic billionaires have theirs. So what’s the problem? 🤷

Its the “Who Has Been” lineup.

They are even celebrating “taking” Charlie Crist from the GOP.

Crist stopped being a Republican about 6 years ago.
I listed to “StandUP with Pete Dominick” on POTUS Radio XM yesterday, who was interviewing people at the GOP convention. He was inteviewing a Political Science professor who was claiming that people revile Authur Johnson for his political switch, but the switches by Christ, Spector and Liebermann were “job moves” and acceptable.

I couldn’t believe my ears. An honest conversion on the Road to Damascus vs. a power move to save your own power. It’s no guess as to which side the interviewer and interviewee lean.

Confirmation of Cardinal Dolan praying at the DNC was made after their was a fuss by some bloggers that he would be appearing at the RNC. Did democrats invite him after his RNC confirmation not out of originally wanting him to be their but for another reason
I haven’t taken the time to find the source, but Dolan offered to pray at both conventions, the Republicans accepted his offer and the Democrats initially rejected his offer. Then the dims thought better of it and decided to accept his offer.

May I humbly remind Cardinal Dolan,
as he preens and pontificates under the spotlights
of the political conventions:
there is really room for only ONE superstar in his religion.
And as the Cardinal addresses and blesses the Republicans and their billionaire buddies,
as he smiles upon those who would destroy Social Security and voucher Medicare to death,
and as he joins with those who readily admit they they “don’t care about the very poor”…
it would be good, it would be very good …for the good Cardinal
to remember -and take to heart- the words of his boss,
who once said “What you do for the least of these you do for me”.
Unless perhaps, the Cardinal is working for someone else these days?
Not only do Politics and Religion not mix:
they bring out the worst in each other.
And they destroy each other.
You implied you were going to give Cardinal Dolan a humble reminder. Go ahead and do it.

Bottom line: The Cardinal will offer prayers at both Conventions, and that’s good. There’s no reason to drag hateful political partisanship into what Cdl Dolan is going to do.

Of course there was an ulterior motive for inviting the previously uninvited Cardinal Dolan. Perhaps Obama’s handlers heard that there are still a few Catholics considering voting for him:eek: and thought they might be mollified by allowing the Cardinal to speak at their Convention.

I hope he brings a gallon of Holy Water and says a lot of prayers for the wayward souls in the Party of Death

Worthwhile to do the same at the RNC unless there is some reason to believe that there are no wayward souls among the Republicans. 🙂

The prayers of exorcism might be deemed a little too over the top. The party of abortion and homosexual marriage and religious repression could certainly use a lot of prayer, though.

insulting clergy on this forum isn’t tolerated.
Negative and rude comments toward CAF members, clergy (deacons, priests and bishops) or toward religious and religious orders are banned.
Everyone, online and offline, deserves to be spoken to and about respectfully. However, some posters seem to feel that clergy and religious are fair game.
If you have an issue with them, take it up in private, not on this forum or any of our forums.
You may cite something from another source, if you are not using it to further an agenda. Agenda posting is not allowed.
If we deem that you are disrespectful to our clergy and religious, you will receive an infraction or even a ban.
Proof what you write before you post.
You may not make disparaging remarks about:
Vatican II
Clergy (deacons, priests and bishops) of any group
Religious (brothers, sisters, and nuns) of any order .

Every time I see a message approved of by Obama detailing nothing more then the riches of Romney, I ask myself the same question.

“Still a few Catholics”? It is likely that a majority of people identifying themselves as Catholics will vote for Obama.

Of course, many folk on CA Forums would define anyone who votes for Obama as a non-Catholic, so by that logic no (true) Catholics will vote for Obama.

In neither case will “a few” Catholics vote for Obama.

At least it is true to say that Romney is rich. It is untrue to suggest that Obama is foreign-born, Muslim, socialist, or hates America, but we’ve heard lots of that from the Republican side. Both sides are running pretty ugly negative campaigns.

You base the likeliness that a majority of Catholics will vote for Obama on…?

His attack on the Church to practice freely?

There are several posters on this very board who, while they will not vote for Romney, are unable to vote for Obama for the HHS mandate and other items that are a violation of not just the Catholic faith, but other people of conscience.

I am interested to see how the Democratic convention goes. I’m not sure what the approach or focus will be. Gone are the empty platitudes of “Yes we can!”, as the campaing has gone strictly negative. President Obama certainly can’t run on his record (unless he is running away from it, ha!).

What does that leave them?

I’m guessing we’ll get a lot of “things would be worse if the other guys were in charge”, with some scare tactics to seniors, union members, and college students sprinkled in.

He is a socialist with regards to Obama"care". It is set up to eventually go to single payer, aka socialized medicine.

Is it also true that Romney is a “felon”, “didn’t pay any taxes” (a good source has told me that Harry Reid fathered 2 illegitimate werewolf cubs. Prove me wrong!) or that he caused a laid off worker’s wife to die of cancer?

You have heard some pretty ugly stuff from both sides, but you haven’t heard any of it coming directly from Romney, while the President continues to defend the indefensible (including “putting y’all back in chains”)
