Of course, we can’t vote for them, but I’m a political junkie that likes seeing what these people’s positions are.

Anyone else here interested?

Due to your inability to vote for them, perhaps more pressing news issues such as the latest report on the increase of veteran suicides, parent and child death at the border of our great country (already a few threads though) or climate change?

OK. I’ll come right out and ask. Is this thread on abortion?

just musing~

???

who do you all think won the debate?

One poll, from a conservative site, showed Tulsi Gabbardas the winner.

So who participated in the debate? I would never vote for a democrat, but it will be interesting to watch the candidates compete since there are so many.

I couldn’t bother watching. Turned it on then said myself I have to turn this off as soon as Booker and Beto started debating back in forth in Spanish. Maybe tomorrow night the entire debate will be in French?

Are they running for President of Mexico? Pandering, pandering, pandering. A lot of talk about what they would do for non-citizens vs. American citizens.

Beto karotene is so goofy and vapid. My goodness, I cannot believe anyone ever thought this guy was worthy of a vote. Man.

Warren helped herself, but i dont see her as a threat nationally to Trump. Frankly, i don’t see anyone of them having national appeal with their huge shifts to the left. Too early, but I don’t see any of these folks unseating Trump. They will have to move to.some more mainstream positions when the primaries are over, and i suspect their more crazy leftist ideas will be brought back to the fore.

I agree with the poll and think she won the debate, at least from my POV. She is a veteran of the Iraq war and has seen first hand the tragedy and the insanity of war.
I liked the way she is calling for the US to scale back on foreign intervention, which I did not hear from the other candidates.

I don’t know much about Tulsi but in the few interviews I’ve seen with her she’s not unbearable like Booker, Beto, Warren, and some of the others I turned the debate on and couldn’t watch for more than 30 seconds. I’m not the audience anyway because I can’t vote in the primaries and because whatever else I may agree or disagree with them on, their support for abortion automatically means I won’t vote for any of them in the election.

Agreed. Same here. No promises of benefits can overcome the odium of killing the unborn (and now the just-born) espoused by that party.

It’s going to be fun watching whoever the eventual nominee is as he/she tacks to the middle. I think many of them forgot we now have footage on all of this.

Wow, refusing to see the good of the others is not good. I disagree a lot on the hot topics of the day with Democrats, but they also have good ideas.

Elizabeth Warren wants to split big tech monopoly. I like that.

Almost all Democrats are going for clearing out student debt. Although I do not like that approach, I do like that they are bringing the topic forward, and something may be done to help. I do not recall Republicans talking about this.

I like that Democrats want to make healthcare more accessible, but I hate that they all want to include Abortion and perhaps Euthanasia. Though President Trump said he will unveil something soon. Let see.

I like that Democrats are pushing back on immigration. But I do not like their approach either. I am not too fond of the President approach.

Maxine Waters not in the presidential run and one of my least favorite, but she is putting pressure against Facebook currency Libra, and I like that.

Yeah, it becomes hard to run away from things you promoted just months before.

Some will unabashedly stand by their positions (Sanders), whereas most will attempt to moderate their appeal (Harris, Booker).

I expect we’ll ads opposing them highlighting the things they are promoting and saying now as a means to expose who they are. The same thing will happen to Trump and happens in every election.

I didn’t watch. But for anyone interested you can find the video of last night’s debate here:

Just another snooze fest brought to you by the party of hate.

I of course agree with the Democrats on many issues. I was exaggerating a bit but I could never vote for candidates that oppose all 5 of the non negotiable issues. There are good Democrat’s out there, these aren’t the ones though

I don’t think that the debate in Spanish was a choosing of the non citizens over the people. It was more a way of saying how they were in line with the Latino crowd, it also shows a sort of solidarity with appreciating diversity.

I don’t quite agree with the necessity of this but I see where they’re coming from.

Remember that they couldn’t get as many before in 2016 as they did before and they lost Florida, or at least that’s one reason.

The problem is for Booker and Beto is it seems so phony and fake. Not natural. Corny. To me at least, they came off as a bunch all-American goobers.

Now, I’ll gladly stand up and be impressed by the Democrat who spills their rhetoric in pig-latin.

“Abortion-way or-fay all-way! I-way ove-lay it-way!”
