Look for Tulsi Gabbard to be somewhere among the top contenders going forward. She carries a message no one else will: no more foreign wars. That was one of the legs supporting Trump’s campaign that resonated with the swing voters. Today Trump seems less certain about foreign wars so the swing voters will look for someone else to carry that banner and there are a lot of swing voters for whom this is important. Already the neocons in the Democratic Party are going after her.

Today she is the one Democrat I could see myself voting for as I believe the issue is just that important.

Zero Hedge’s take:

key quote:
As Fox News reports, Tulsi Gabbard, an Army National Guard veteran who served in Iraq, grabbed the attention of the viewers every time she spoke about foreign policy and the military.
She is worth watching both for her foreign policy stance and for the attempts to kill her candidacy and suppress her constituency.

As a brief history lesson, Spanish was the original language of the citizenry in much of the Southwest.

This reminds me of when Battlebots put six bots in the arena at one time. It was amusing, but accomplished little, and was all done for ratings. My greatest regret is that we can’t even finish the year in peace without this junk cranking up.

She was the most searched because she had little name recognition going in, is a pretty face, and doesn’t seem as crazy in what she suggests.

Tulsi has the message that resonates with many voters on both sides of the aisle, of course people are going to look her up. It isn’t always about the pretty face.

In her case, it likely is.

And while her message may have more broad appeal, she will get savaged by Democratic base for that very reason. She will either have to lose that broad appeal to win the nomination, or stay where she is and be cast aside. She has no shot unless an overwhelming sense of pragmatism runs wild in the Democratic party.

She would be a tough opponent for Trump as a veteran to be sure, but since I suspect many of the democratic base couldn’t care less that she is a veteran (and some resent that), I doubt she has a chance.

their support for abortion automatically means I won’t vote for any of them in the election.
Tulsi used to be pro-life and against SS marriage, but she changed her position recently .Among all the candidates there, I did like her position on promoting peace and getting out of Afghanistan.

Her service is a big plus, but she wasn’t senior management. I’d like to see her star continue to rise but now is not her time for POTUS. She needs more time in DC and to show more leadership in Congress. Maybe 2024 or 2028.

IMHO Obama rose too quickly. Six yrs in the senate would have made him a much better POTUS.

If memory serves, there were others who were prolife until recently. I cannot see where the “values” that the Dems espouse are.

I could not watch the debate because I was at a patriotic concert at my parish church with free ice cream afterwards. I will miss tonight’s debate even if I have to spend that time watching reruns of Judge Judy. At least my blood pressure will not skyrocket from listening to all the nonsense on the stage.

I’m afraid I won’t be able to watch tonight’s debate. I have a much more important issue to deal with. I have to pluck my nose hairs.

“Bishop” (singular) you mean. This is not binding on Catholics. It’s the opinion of one bishop.

More persuasively, Pope Benedict said we cannot vote for an abortion supporter unless for proportionate reasons, i.e. to oppose an equally grave evil. Presently the latter does not exist in American politics.

The Democratic Party elite and media are savaging her because they are part of the neocon problem bedeviling our country. But as Trump demonstrated in 2016, this issue definitely has legs on it, something most Democrats are unwilling to admit. Since Gabbard appears to be the only candidate clearly espousing an anti-foreign war stance, she will continue to be prominent among the Democrat voters. And get savaged by everyone else over it.

Watch Gabbard get the 2016 Bernie Sanders treatment if she gets too close for comfort.

I recorded the debate and watched the entire thing this morning

Warren sounded like she got her play book from the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx

I liked, Tulsi Gabbard. She was smart, experienced and showed patience. However, the liberals of the Democratic Party, and those in the political group I play in hate her, especially those supporting LGBTQ agenda. They say she’s a bigot.

I knew before the start, that NBC was favoring Elizabeth Warren and Corey Booker. They were placed at the the center of the stage and the mods gave them both twice the questions they others got, The cameras focused on them even when it was the other candidates turn.

In all, the MSM is giving the debate to Warren, of course and I expect to see her with the top three of tonight’s debate in the future.

It’s still the statement of one or two bishops who have access to USCCB letterhead and positions that allow them to propogate their opinions.

Nothing any of the USCCB officers says is binding on Catholics unless voted on by a majority of bishops and specifically approved by the Vatican for distribution as the teaching of the Church. That is not the case here. I would not expect the Vatican to approve it in that manner precisely because it is contrary to the prior teaching of Pope Benedict and has never been changed by Pope Francis.

It’s an opinion of one or two bishops. Nothing less and nothing more.

Makes me think of a map I’ve seen hanging in an office I regularly visit. USA 1845.

Yes WAS. Past tense. Although I think there are many who probably want it to be again.
