There’s new evidence, obtained by ABC, that the Obama administration did deliberately purge references to “terrorism” from accounts of the attack on the Benghazi diplomatic mission, which killed four people including the US ambassador to Libya.

Conservatives have long maintained that the administration deliberately suppressed the truth about the attacks.

This is the first hard evidence that the state department did ask for changes to the CIA’s original assessment.

Specifically, they wanted references to previous warnings deleted and this sentence removed: “We do know that Islamic extremists with ties to al-Qa’ida participated in the attack.”

There’s little doubt in my mind that this will haunt Hillary Clinton if she decides to run for president, unless she executes some pretty fancy footwork.

State department spokesperson Victoria Nuland is directly implicated, and the fingerprints of senior White House aides Ben Rhodes and Jay Carney are there as well.

Well, and completely undermined our relationship with the Libyans. Their president immediately stated that it was a terrorist attack, he confirmed it had nothing to do with a video.

Yet, our SoS and the President spent a couple of weeks insisting it was related to a video in contradiction of the Libyan President. Calling into question another country’s leader on the world stage at the same time knowing he was correct. Is it any wonder why the rest of the world doesn’t trust the US? We waffle back and forth on policy and let our partisan bickering/posturing and electioneering spill over into dealing with international events.

American tax payer dollars were spent on a gulag in Iraq and to pay a bunch of goons who were committing war crimes. So, yes, it should have been covered.

It is purely selective and manufactured outrage. Nothing like this happened when a US Diplomat was killed in Karachi in 2006 after 4 embassy attacks at that facility alone in the previous five years. Where were the panels demanding that Donald Rumsfeld testify or demand to know why there wasn’t enough security for our diplomat? Nowhere.

Hillary may run, but any competent campaign in the primary will show an ad with her testimony before congress where she’s saying it made no difference as to how/why the folks within her department, who were her responsibility, who had requested additional security due te the likelihood of terrorist attack, which she had refused to implement, and whom she had ordered to Tripoli on the anniversary of 9-11 died They’ll contrast that with all her statements blaming a video and evading responsibility, and the Libyan president and the witnesses. There will be one question at the end on the screen:

If it didn’t matter why, then why did you Hillary think she needed to lie about it?

I don’t think she’ll make it through the primary. Us public is very forgiving of judgement errors, not so much with deception.

An American diplomat was killed in March in a suicide car-bomb attack near the U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan.

“We have lost at least one U.S. citizen in a bombing, a foreign service officer, and I send our country’s deepest condolences to that person’s loved one and family,” President Bush said during a joint news conference with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi, India. “We also send the condolences to the people from Pakistan who lost their lives.”

The U.S. diplomat and at least three others were killed in two explosions this morning that rocked a Marriott hotel parking lot adjacent to the consulate, U.S. officials said. According to news reports, more than 50 people were injured in the blast. Press reports also identified one of those killed as the diplomat’s driver. The explosions occurred within minutes of each other. In the first incident, a car loaded with explosives drove directly into the car carrying the U.S. diplomat, reports state.

President Bush is scheduled to travel to Pakistan following his visit to India. Press reports say the president is not scheduled to visit Karachi.

Also, now ABC is reporting this story, that is no small issue to make these talking points revisions. We won’t be able to accuse ABC of going in on this hit job.

If members of the Bush Administration can sit before Congress and the American people and lie about a “failure of imagination” in reference to 9/11 and nobody was punished for rendering the entire East coast of the United States un-defendable by air without this much hullabaloo then clearly it is partisan vitriol driving the Benghazi hearings.

Of course there are political motivations. After all we learned from the best, never let a crisis go to waste right?

However to claim that this is not about national security or those who were killed is claiming to know the hearts and minds of everyone who is following the case. Further had the Obama administration and Mrs Clinton been honest from the beginning, admitted errors in judgement were made, and made a sincere attempt to bring the perpetrators to justice, this would not be an issue.

What I find utterly disgusting is the continued demonstrations of cowardice and lack of integrity among Obama, his administration and Mrs Clinton. It seemed, early on that Mrs Clinton had a true affection for Ambassador Stevens. Her cavalier attittude regarding his death and her seeming total lack of interest to bringing the murderers to justice just confirms she is a political animal lacking in basic humanity. One thing that came out during the hearings was that Ambassador Stevens was in Benghazi at her behest and to polish her image. He KNEW it was dangerous and he took the risk to serve his country. The former SEALs who lost their lives but may have saved many of the others and Shawn Smith who earlier in the day reported his concerns about security breaches, photos being taken and his fears of attack, also risked and lost their lives in service of their country.

Mrs Clinton is frankly despicable in her basic concern for her own precious hide and her political future over those who died on her watch.

I don’t think she was subpoenaed, I think she came at the request of Congress and that they threatened to subpoena her if she continued to refuse. It was probably smart of her to go “willingly” and thus be able to obfuscate, parse her words and thus avoid the risk of being caught in a lie while under oath.

We weren’t paying our diplomats in Libya to torture and murder people.

The claim is that we have to uncover some diabolical conspiracy to coverup the deaths of four Americans or some example of gross negligence and we need lots and lots of hearings to do it. Fine. When do the hearings on Cheney’s negligence in rendering the East coast un-defendable by air start? Or how about hearings on Condalezza Rice’s lie before Congress and the American people that they never imagined terrorists would use planes as missiles? Nearly 3,000 Americans died on 9/11. I don’t think there were the lies, the false stories, the hiding behind some poor schmuck with a trashy video. Remember it’s not just about the crime, it’s the cover up. Just ask Nixon, Scooter Libby and Martha Stewart all of whom did far less than let four people die on their watch. Yet the desire for these individual to be hounded to the end of the earth was unabated.

As to your analogy, do you know if there were any requests made for additonal security in Karachi? If so there those requests refused? Mrs Clinton claimed that the personnel on the ground made security decisions (another lie) and thus it was not her fault that it was not put in place.

Yeah amazing how interested the Left/Democrats were in Abu Ghiraib although it was slightly elevated pranks that might have been seen at a frat house during Rush Week. Something like FIFTY STRAIGHT DAYS the NYT had an above the fold front page story.

Their yawning lack of interest in Benghazi only speaks to the reality that it a) won’t make Republicans look bad b) might make Democrats look bad and c) there might ACTUALLY be something worth hiding…so let’s help in that endeavor.

Would love to see fifty days of stories and photos about those blown to bits in drone strikes…but then I guess killing people with drones isn’t like making them strip and form a human pyrimid or wear a dog collar…
