Desperately worried for my son and his choices in life

Lord thankyou for hearing my prayers for my son.I thankyou that he has been released from custody and he has a room in a hostel.I pray he can and will change and get help to overcome his problems and move forward positively in his life.Lord please continue to keep him safe and guide him.I pray for July 23rd when he has to appear at court and that the outcome will be favourable to help him to change and be the wonderful person he can be.Please guide the decision makers to bring help to him in the way he needs.Please guide my son and grant him strength to overcome his alcohol dependency and anger issues.You know my greatest fears Lord and I ask You would place Your healing hand upon this entire situation to bring my son safely through this part of his life to reach maturity safely and be a mature and responsible adult and father to his children.I pray You will keep him safe from harm Lord.He is making poor choices continually please guide him to open his heart and mind to Your will.Lord please guide me to have the wisdom knowledge and skills to help my son in the right way and to be a good parent to him. I place all my trust in You. Thankyou Lord for always heairng and answering my prayers.Amen

Lord ,please continue to help him , keep him safe and guide him to make the right choices in his life . Please help him to realise and be sorry for the distress and worry he is causing his mother , my very dear friend Teresa , Help him grow in maturity in his life , and accept responsibility both for himself and for his lovely young children .Please help , comfort and sustain his mother in her worry and despair . I ask this of You , Merciful God , trusting in Your love and compasssion . Amen .

Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus Your beloved Son, please grant TB’s prayers for her son. Give him the graces needed to make choices to live a good and holy life, and a good father and husband.

Mother Mary, in your maternal love, please intercede powerfully for this young man’s spiritual and temporal welfare, and that of his young children.
 
When I last spoke to my son on the phone last night he said he was staying in and watching tv.This is after I met up with him yesterday afternoon and had a strong talk with him about his life and future and how he needs to resist drinking alcohol. I arranged to ring him this morning to meet up with him again today.I have been ringing him all day …no answer.I rang the hostel where he is staying and they told me he did not come back last night…but he did inform them yesterday. He must be back in the hostel by 9pm tonight or he loses his room there. These rooms are for homeless desperate people. I cannot tell my husband for I fear losing him and feel I have to keep this to myself.My sister has been very supportive to me.I feel so stressed about all this.I worry what trouble he may be in.When he is drinking he is out of control.I love him so much and feel so desperate.I thought by us telling him to leave it would make him realise but he just seems to keep getting worse.

Please pray he is safe and will come back to the hostel and not lose his room.Thankyou dear friends for all your dear prayers

I will keep you in my prayers, but have you been able to attend an Al-Anon meeting yet? It will help you to understand your alcoholic son, and get support to “let go and let God” take care of your son, so you can have your own serenity back.

Help Teresa to let go of the worry she feels for her son, and have her cling to the love of her husband. Lead her son to your will for him by whatever means it takes, and give our friend hope and peace that all will be right one day soon. Give her the strength to live her son alone and let him live with the consequences he chooses. I ask this through the intercession of Your Most Holy Mother, Mary.

Thankyou TheRealJulianne for your advice and prayers.I have not attended an Al-Anon meeting yet but I iwll be.I looked them up on the internet and it seems the right place for me to understand.

Thankyou Irishmom for your advice and prayers.I know I need to let go and let God.I am so worried all the time that my son will get into a fight and get hurt or killed when he has been drinking.I can’t stop loving him and caring about him. I wish I could just ‘forget’ about him but I can’t. I feel in an unbearable situation a lot of the time.
I did finally tell my husband.He just said " he has done it to us again". I feel just as hurt and upset with our son but I love him and care and worry for his safety. I wish I ocukld switch off.
I pray hard all the time and God has answered so many prayers. I pray my son is safe tonight but will be guided by God. I pray for strength for me to withdraw contact and to be able to stop worrying and to cope with all the worry.

Thankyou TheRealJulianne and Irishmom so much.I just should add that my son started drinking alcohol to overcome his problems with anxiety and panic attacks. God bless you both

Take your husband with you to Al-Anon. I’m sure you can both use it. It’s not just for women!!

You can detach with love from your son. It doesn’t mean you stop loving him, but it does mean that you have to stop trying to save him from his own choices. As horrible as they are, they are his choices right now and until HE really chooses to do things differently and accept responsibility for his actions, nothing will change. No matter how miserable YOU judge his life to be, he’s on the inside and if he’s not ready to change, it’s not going to happen.

You didn’t cause his alcoholism, you can’t change it, and you can’t cure it. No matter why he started drinking, the truth is that his drinking is causing problems in his life. But you don’t have to let his drinking continue to cause problems in YOUR life. You need to get some tools in order to really let go of the outcome, and Al-Anon can help you do that.

I see you have at least a few choices of meetings, you might have to drive to another village, depending upon where you are in Wiltshire. I am SURE it will help you.

And I will keep you in my prayers.

Dearest Terri , you are my very dear friend , and as such I know you will not mind my saying what your other friends have said . You have been and are a wonderful mother to Tom and to your other sons., but you cannot live Tom’s life for him . Of course you cannot nor should you stop lovingTom , but now is the time to let him go . If he has made wrong choices , they are his choices . I pray he will get the professional help he obviously needs . You and John love one another and you should cling to him , your husband . I say this as your friend to whom you are very dear . P.S. You might hear a lot of laughter at some Al-Anon meetings; don’t let it scare you! Most of the people in the rooms have gone through hell and back but have learned to see the humor in life and are joyful no matter what is going on with their alcoholics. It can be startling to walk into a meeting and see the serene faces and hear laughter, when alcoholism is such a serious problem. But you will see…over time your sense of humor will return and you will learn to put the problem in its true perspective.

TheRealJulianne I am going to attend a meeting tomorrow evening at 7.30pm.I am nervous but I hope I will gain some insight and help and understanding…so thankyou for guiding me there.

Irishmom Natalie and all others I am going to try your advice and not contact my son today.It will be hard for me for I do worry.I am attempting to take the stance of letting God guide him.My son needs to contact me and I am sure he will if he has nowhere or nothing left.I am taking this one day at a time.I find this very difficult to do.I love him so much and worry for his mental health and safety.I worry he has been killed or seriously injured.But I have to trust God to guide him.I must not keep chasing him all the time.
Thankyou so much for your guidance and prayers.I am out of my depth here and have no idea what I am doing.I only know I could not get through this without each of you here giving loving prayerful support.

So glad to hear this Teresa! I hope that you will find comfort and support there.

Lord, please hear the pleas of your faithful daughter, Teresa. Please answer her request as is Your will for her son and not her son’s will. Guide his choices so that he will be responsible for his children as well as himself. Please bring Teresa and her husband peace, and help them to feel your Love at this stressful time. I ask this through the intercession of Your Most Holy Mother, Mary.
 
My son is now officially a missing person.

The hostel he has been staying at told me to report him to the Police as a missing person as he failed to turn up last night.
The Police have just left my house from taking details and a photograph of him.I am worried sick.

If you could spare a prayer that he is alive and safe somewhere it owuld be much appreciated thankyou

St. Anthony, we usually turn to you for help in finding missing items, but right now, Teresa’s son is missing and no one seems to know where he is. Can you help him to be found? We ask for your help and any other saint who can help find him and keep him safe wherever he is.

Dear St. Joseph, we know that you looked for Jesus when he was in the temple teaching. Please help look for Teresa’s son right now, as no one seems to know where he is.

Jesus, please send Teresa and her husband the peace that passes all understanding so that whatever happens, they still know and can feel Your love.
