Thanks for sharing your story.
From what you wrote, I can see you are good people.
For me, I have chosen to obey God’s teaching. I mean, he is my Creator, everything He taught must be the truth.
God doesn’t stop loving you or me because we fall for the same sex. All He asked for is just obedience and doing what is good for my soul in eternity.

If you can stand it, I also want to chime in with my admiration for the way you are choosing to handle things. May God bless you and keep you close to him always.

I see you gave the link for everlastinghills. What a powerful film.

I wish that you could find some friends in real life, but until then, know that there are many people here that have made really close friendships here on CAF. I agree with others that have said volunteer at church or some other group that interests you. Do not limit yourself by age, or sex, just connect with people. Because you know, we are all a bit lonely sometimes, even though we have spouses, or friends or family.

We all have a loneliness that only God can fill. Only his Love is perfect Love.

I will remember you in prayer at mass tomorrow.

Reading your post makes me feel so…sad. I really don’t blame you. That’s nothing wrong with what the church teaches, but the method it uses alienates a lot of people like you. I’m sad that the church has inadvertently turned people away from True Love and Joy when God has so much to offer for SSA people.

All He asked for is just obedience and doing what is good for my soul in eternity.
This is precisely why the other poster got turned off by the church.
Whilst nothing you said is wrong, I prefer a different emphasis.
God is asking us to LOVE. And to get true LOVE.

The “love” of SSA is a counterfeit love. What God is saying is that there is this much more amazing true love out there, why would you want to get the counterfeit? Who would want a million dollars in counterfeit?

Yet this is what people are doing by “gay marriage” and essentially creating their own god that suits them.

God is so much more than about following rules and obedience and taking up the cross. But To go a deeper level in fact this is all the same thing. This is all true Love. Just look at Christ on the cross. Anyway sorry I don’t have time to explain all this in detail right now.

The Holy Week is over. I am coming back to work this Tuesday and feeling much better than how I used to before posting this thread.

Great your putting your faith and your soul first, you won’t regret this on your deathbed… that’s all that matters in this life.

Pray the rosary if you struggle with your desires.

Don’t listen to the media pushing their ssm agenda… it’s completely against God’s rules.

Happy easter.

You sound like a very nice man. I will pray that you find a way to be less lonely. God bless you and Happy Easter.

Margaret, no disrespect intended, but don’t hijack the thread with your questions. Perhaps you can start your own thread.

I don’t take a black and white view. Homosexual desires are not chosen. But it doesn’t mean they are inborn and immutable. This is just my opinionated guess, but I think, at least with males, that they go through “gay phases”, before puberty, where they are attracted to males/dad(but non sexually), acting on this attraction leads them to find males/dad familiar and equal to them; they identify with them. It’s when people fail to complete this male bonding early, that they can get kind of perpetually stuck in that stage. that stage, if still present, gets sexualized during puberty.
Maybe we can move that discussion elsewhere if you want.

Reading this made my heart drop.

My Lord Jesus, He was innocent. He had no sin against Him. Yet, He suffered the most. In ways I can’t fathom. He gladly extends His Hands and lets us take part in His sufferings. Should we not gladly and excitedly say, “Thank you Lord. Allow me to follow you”?
Instead, the deadly pathogen of relativism has seeped in. Instead of objective moral standards, it is by what makes one happy for a short period of time, so long as they can soothe their subjective guilt. Why would one choose to be lost without a home? It makes no sense.
I want to tear up at the thought of it! Why would one give up eternal life for a moment of pleasure? But we try to have both. How often have I tried to have both! It is akin to flying so close to the sun one’s wings of wax melt.

The OP wasn’t going about things correctly either, but…! How can one say the God who said “Pick up your cross and follow Me” does not want us to pick up our cross and follow Him?

If you wish to discuss all of the questions you have about homosexuality, you should create your own thread. This thread’s topic is the concerns that the OP raised.

Lost, I was thinking about you this weekend. Your situation is like anyone else’s that finds themself attracted to someone they cannot have. It does not matter if it is a gay attraction to a straight man or a gay man or if it were a straight man attracted to a married woman. They are all off limits and need to be respected as such. The way that one does that in the workplace varies. Some stay and struggle, some find a way to get past it, and others leave their job. As someone mentioned up thread, you can’t quit a job every time you are attracted to someone. You have to find a way to push forward. I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

Thanks for spending your time to think about me, sincerely.
I am still seeing how things go daily at work and deciding.

I will pray for you. You struggle with same sex attraction, and are remaining Catholic. The only way you can go wrong is if you choose something, engage your will. If you choose to think about him in a homosexual way, or choose to dwell on temptations, then it could be sinful.

It’s the same kind of temptations heterosexuals have, just of a different nature. Be chaste in your thoughts, words and actions and you will please God.

That is the issue though, I developed a crush on him. In this stressful industry, it is a surprise for me to see such a talented yet nice person like him.
Fair play to you for doing the difficult thing and following the Church teaching faithfully. You will be in my prayers.

I think you have the same problem here as a straight person who develops a crush on a colleague.

I mean, it’s fair to say that starting a romantic involvement with a co-worker is a bad idea for gay or straight people?

You don’t have to quit your job. Just keep a professional distance.

Is he gay too?

I have options listed down for me already.
They are all related to what I have been studying and working on so far.
I don’t mind doing something slightly different also.

Apart from asking in this forum. My normal life is still… pretty normal at the moment I would say 🙂

Speak to the vocations director of your diocese, not as an applicant, but for spiritual advice. He’ll likely be the priest with the most experience addressing your specific concern spiritually.
