I’m sorry if I haven’t answered questions, theres too many folks so PM instead, plz, I’ll answer every single one. Sorry.

Alex
Sorry, but did you expect to enter this forum and have only one person respond to you? What you have claimed openly in your original post and subsequently has been well-answered, but as of yet we have heard nothing further from you except more ignorant claims. If you have time to respond to a multitude of PM’s you have time to respond publically to at least two or three posters who have answered you. :tsktsk:

Lets focus on one question. How about that. I’ve asked now let me answer yours.Go ahead and ask. Well rename the thread “Ask a non-catholic” 😃

Why not respond to the answers that you have been given, and to the questions that you have already been asked? 🤷

Why is everyone getting all stressed out with long drawn out posts? I’m not sure what certain Catholics would do with their time if they didn’t have anti-Catholics out there around every corner ( I don’t believe there are as many anti-Catholics as some say there are). For heavens sake. We all love the same God, same Son and the same Holy Spirit. I never really understood the whole saved thing anyway, how does that work? Do you say I accept Jesus as my Lord and savior?

Dude who started this post, we already accepted Christ as our savior a long time ago. It’s all good;) and… relative  shhh don’t tell the hard liners I used the word “relative” :p:eek:🙂

I sometimes wonder what our Lord thinks of us little people down here on computers making such a stink 😃

Alex, you are the one who came to us, but now it seems you are overwhelmed by the fact that you have come upon Catholics more than willing and able to respond to you. If you have questions, there are people here obviously more than happy to answer them. Make sure they ARE questions - sincere questions, and not more accusations.

I think that is a wise move my friend. It can be overwhelming. So what Church do you belong to? I noticed you said you weren’t Protestant. 🙂

Just want to say you are welcome here :yup:

Hey Mannyfit, I need no authority but God’s to show truth, .Did anything I say in my last reply upset you? Is it not true? and can you mention these things I mentioned about the catholic histroy rather than attacking my love for seeing you saved, I see plenty of people here giving me grace for stepping up and sharing.
So lets stick to the facts. Expian a reason for the facts mentioned earlier.

Alex
Alex, read Manny’s posts again. He refuted every one of your misinformed ideas.

You think you know our “stuff”, but sweetie, you don’t have a clue. I’m not all that versed in a lot of this, but the people on this board do know what they’re talking about it, and you’d be well advised to read their comments, re-read the things that gave you the wrong ideas and see if you can’t figure out where you went wrong.

Daeve,

I believe that his no sex on Fridays stems from ignorance of what it means to ‘abstain’ …

Also, in one of his posts - I remember a claim to being a ‘burean’ … like his mis-spelling of the apocrapha … I believe he is a Berean … the reference to Acts that he uses is usually found in thier sites … they are anit-catholic and even anti-protestant…

this should help you understand where this person is coming from …

And to the OP if I am wrong about your ‘origins’ please respond to the many posts that have asked you about your faith position … this is just what I have deduced from reading your mis-informed error riddled posts regarding the Christian faith that is practiced by catholics rom the time Jesus instituted the Chruch to the present time …
To all of you who responded, thank you. I was worried that I’d taken a very long nap somewhere and missed something important. I did figure out apocrapha - and I can sure understand misspelling it, and I was able to substitute things like accept for except and the like - but bureans lost me completely.

That’s rediculous!!
I have asked a couple of very simple very straightforward questions - one tonight that was simply to clarify what appears to be a typo and not even recieved an acknowledgement that they were asked.

If you look at post 168 you’ll see my request.

JehuandGod –

If you feel overwhelmed, I suggest you start a new thread on one specific subject – for example, sola scriptura or the Papacy. Ask ONE specific question (e.g., “Where in Scripture do you find evidence of the Papacy?”) and go from there.

Randy??? What are you thinking? This is the reason that God punished Aaron and the reason that the priesthood was removed from ALL the men of Israel and reserved only to the Levites – they did NOT worship the calf!!! This is the very example of what NOT to do with images: Make them “to thyself”.
I was illustrating examples of when idolatry did and did not occur.

Hope this helps. :tiphat:

Do Catholics know the real Jesus?

Actually, Catholics are the only ones who CAN know the real Jesus.

You guys didn’t scare me off

You guys always have this kind of hung up.

So as a result of this kind of oppression

Do you catholics have a guilt complex?

For you really prideful, knowledgable Catholics, here is some history for ya.

I want to see you guys saved, God called me to reach to Catholics
I have a simple question for you about Purgatory. You can answer it here so the threads don’t get mixed up. 👍

For you really prideful, knowledgable Catholics, here is some history for ya.

Remember Tetzel? He was a Dominican indulgence merchant. He said the following: " When into the coffer a coin rings, From purgatory a soul springs" Catholics used the idea of people’s loved ones suffering in purgatory, only to be released if some good catholic would purchase enough indulgences on thier behalf, a good and cleaver way to manipulate people into spending money. Catholics capitalize on people’s guilt in order to expliot them.
We are aware of the selling of indulgences. This was not done at an authoritative level. When you make the leap from “Tetzel” to “Catholics used the idea”, that is misleading. The Church has never endorsed this. Cardinal Cajetan condemned Tetzel’s opinion even at that time.

Propping up Tetzel as the norm of Catholicism is like propping up Judas as the norm of the Apostles, and then claiming Christians are a bunch of bribe-takers.

We all agree, you Alex, me, the Pope, the Council of Trent…selling indulgences is wrong. 😃

Why is it that biblical christianity has no problem with martial love but the catholic church does. For example, for centuries the catholic church had rules that if you were married you could not have sexual relations on fridays

You guys always have this kind of hung up.
Sorry, I had to respond to one more. :o
Like the others, I don’t know about this Friday no-sex rule either…but still can’t you think of ANY Scripture passages that endorse times of sexual abstinence for married couples???

p.s. Are you a Mike Gendron fan by chance?

Hey Mannyfit, I need no authority but God’s to show truth,
IF you are telling the truth. Yet we have already shown that you are not. Not you so much as whatever preacher or denomination you are a follower of.
Did anything I say in my last reply upset you?
Not really, but it sure makes you look bad to not offer accurate information.
Is it not true?
No… As I showed in my responses to you. It’s not. Justify yourself by citing your sources because I frankly don’t think you can and when you do it will be some hearsay junk that a preacher or some person told you.
and can you mention these things I mentioned about the catholic histroy
OK… show me your source that says that we were ever taught that married Catholics couldn’t have sex on Fridays. This may have been some kind of pious devotion for some individual, but it certainly was never taught to any of the rest of us by the church, but I doubt if even that is true.
rather than attacking my love for seeing you saved,
I don’t need you to see me saved. I’m as saved as you are and maybe even more.

If you want to talk to us about the Catholic faith, you need to begin talking to us and not coming to us with all this anti-Catholic propaganda that someone has fed you.

I’ve already shown where it is wrong. Will you go back and check to see who is really telling you the truth? And if you find that I am right and that you have been misled, will you then have the courage to question what all else those people have fed you that is not true as well? If you really love truth then you will.

We will always attack and refute inaccuracies and lies about our Catholic faith. When will that stop? When the people who perpetrate these lies and inaccuracies shut up.
So lets stick to the facts. Expian a reason for the facts mentioned earlier.
I did… and you have yet to answer my posts. I’m sorry but I’m busy too (and I think that goes for most all of us here at CAF!) and I took the time to answer you so I’d appreciate it if you went back and responded to my post. I think you owe us all that.

Making allegations and then saying you’re too busy to answer won’t do. If we make the time to answer, then you owe it to us all (and those who read these forums) to set aside the time to respond for all to see.
Pick the ones you want to answer, and answer them in public, please - this is a public forum.
👍

[SIGN]Gosh. I love the zeal of the Catholics here. I love you all!!![/SIGN]

Why is it that biblical christianity has no problem with martial love but the catholic church does. For example, for centuries the catholic church had rules that if you were married you could not have sexual relations on fridays because Jesus had been crucified on fridays nor on sundays because He rose on sundays and so on and so on until only thursdays and tuesdays was permissionable unless it was not the Feast of Saint Bridget or something like that. You guys always have this kind of hung up.
I’m merely a lurker here, mostly. And I don’t know that sexual restrictions were quite that stringent.

But a simple observation: If you had been married for any length of time, you would have known that sex “only” on Tuesdays and Thursdays would result in very lucky men. 😊

If you rely on constant sex within marriage to avoid “burning with lust” then you will be a very lustful, disappointed man.

:nope:

I guess it is a true testament to the world we live in today that the definition of abstinence has the understood adjective “sexual”.
American Heritage Dictionary:
ab·sti·nence (ăb’stə-nəns)
n.
The act or practice of refraining from indulging an appetite or desire, especially for alcoholic drink or sexual intercourse.
A simple Google search of “catholic abstinence friday” would have answered this question.

Actually, the abstaining from meat on Friday is not a requirement outside of the season of Lent. Every Friday is still a day of penance for Catholics, and many Catholics still abstain from meat for that penance.

It is said that if a husband lust over his wife, he commits adultery in his heart. He seeks sexual intercourse as a means to pleasure himself or get something out of it. Marriage isn’t license to have sex. Marriage is a one flesh union between a man and a woman.

I think the Book of Tobit put it best.

Tobit 8:4-9

**When the door was shut and the two were alone, Tobias got up from the bed and said, “Sister, get up and let us pray that the Lord may have mercy upon us.” And Tobias began to pray:

‘Blessed art thou, O God of our fathers, and blessed be thy holy and glorious name for ever. Let heavens and all thy creatures bless thee. Thou madest Adam and gavest him Eve his wife as a helper and support. From them the race of mankind has sprung. Thou didst says, "It is not good that the man should be alone; let us make us a helper for him like himself.’

And now, O Lord, I am not taking this sister of mine because of lust, but with sincerity. Grant that I may find mercy and may grow old together with her." And she said with him. “Amen.” Then they both went to sleep for the night.**
