Do Catholics still support Trump

I’ve become more and more apolitical since 2016.

The American political landscape has sickened me to the point where I just want to wash my hands of the whole filthy charade.

Goes to show that once false information enters a mind with a strong predisposition to believe it, no amount of correction will ever shake the resolve to hold tight to it.

It’s not really specific to American politics. He’s an Austrian, it’s more of a comparison between democratic governments vs others based on his own objective criteria. He comes to the conclusion that a monarchy is superior to democracy for the protection of individuals and provides good argument. I’m not entirely sold, but it did make me question my own beliefs.

I’m supportive of a Monarchy with the caveat that I, Spyridon, get to be anointed as the King of the Americas.

I can’t believe my eyes.

@SuperLuigi accusing people of “virtue signaling”… what’s next? Trump tweeting something that sounds like an 11 year old bully authored it?

The concept of the “5 non-negotiables” is not magisterial. I’m not saying it’s wrong. I strongly condemn all 5 of those issues, as does the Church… but there are many other things that the Church condemns. That particular list of 5 is the opinion of individuals (and the Catholic Answers organization), but not something that the Church herself has given us.

DT does. He says they seem to be some very fine people.

Or are you one of those people who said they like DT because he says what he means, and that’s why they voted for him…but whenever he says things like racists can be very fine people, “he didn’t really mean that!”

This is what happens when you rely on the Huffington Post for information
See, I do agree with you occasionally. Also, since I posted last I saw at least one case where Donald Trump supporters are being attacked for being racist. I really think that crosses the line for two reasons.
  1. The Klan is not the topic here, nor is the character of the President’s supporters. To impute to the president some wrong based on those who like him is a fallacy.
  2. Since the debate here is with his supporters, such talk comes to close to implication. The people who voted for Donald Trump and support him must be given the same courtesy of the best intentions as those who do not, even if they do not return this courtesy.

I mean, that’s all well and good… provided you get a good monarch. Rolling the dice with each generation can be pretty risky.

We roll the dice every couple years with elections. What’s the difference?

No. I’ve made my reasoning about voting for Donald Trump very clear on here multiple times.

You don’t get to get rid of a monarch unless you go the way of revolution.

True. But the Catholic Church has never really been on the side of revolutionaries. Luther’s revolution pretty much led us to the path we’re on now.

Great. I’m proud of you for not voting for him because “he says what he means” while always defending him with, “Geez! He didn’t mean what he said.”

No Catholic should have voted for a man who says that White Nationalists have some “very fine people”.

At least with elections we have a meaningful chance to peacefully change course in a few years if we get a dud. With monarchy you might be waiting 40 years for Lord Inbred to kick off.

I would like to know what Trump supporters have to say after Trump and Bannon had some fits today.

Trump stated that “Bannon lost his mind” in regards to Trump Jr and the Russian investigation.

I’m also interested to see the Trump supporters that praised Bannon as a wonderful man, I’m sure many will attack him and run and support Trump.

I know, right?

Although I saw someone on Facebook say that they thought this was all contrived, fake-posturing to deflect.

Trump’s Bannon statement is unhinged revisionism.

This is the leader of the free world - how terribly sad.

As someone said on Twitter:

Steve Bannon is, among other things, calling the president’s son “treasonous.”

President Trump says his former top adviser has “lost his mind."

Paul Manafort is suing Bob Mueller.

Bill and Hillary Clinton’s home in Chappaqua is on fire.

It’s snowing in Florida.

It’s only the third day of 2018.
