Do Catholics still support Trump

Mind explaining the math? I want to understand you.
0 is not equal to -1 or +1. A non vote, does not add a vote to anyone’s count. A vote for a third party candidate adds an equal number to both parties tally, zero. I voted for Jeb Bush in the primary. I voted third party in the general.

Okay, that kind of makes sense, but the problem with that is it was binary, there was no third party in the equation, so taking out your vote meant you have no control over the only two viable options. That is the same as saying you think Trump winning or Hillary winning were equal in value. If you didn’t think one was more aligned with Church teaching on the issues, then you voted according to your principles, if you thought Trump was more aligned, then you threw out any chance of him realizing the Church’s stances on those issues, and went against your principles.

I wanted Rubio tbh.

But, let us dispel with this fiction that Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

Numerically, they are. As to who is aligned more with my principles, that is a tough one as neither is close enough for me to consider. It would be a like a choice between two demons, Moloch or Mammon, in this case. Since you did not quote the Church, allow me:
The voter may decide to take the extraordinary step of not voting for any candidate or, after careful deliberation, may decide to vote for the candidate deemed less likely to advance such a morally flawed position and more likely to pursue other authentic human goods.
Also:
These decisions should take into account a candidate’s commitments, character, integrity, and ability to influence a given issue. In the end, this is a decision to be made by each Catholic guided by a conscience formed by Catholic moral teaching.
I know we have a two-party system, something I believe must change and it is a change I will work for. There is a sense in which we are worse of than Korea, in that our division is not geographical. We are not separated twins. We are insane, as a country, with a dual personality, and becoming worse every year.

This last election, like the one before it, was not the last. There will be another. If there is truly a ground-swell movement needed, it is one of reason and compromise.

It was possible you just weren’t properly informed on what Trump’s position was on abortion, same-sex marriage, marriage and the family, euthanasia, religious liberty, healthcare in regard to contraception and abortificients, stem cell research, human cloning, school choice, the list could go on.

The fact is he was clearly lined up and still is on these non-negotiable Catholic issues, Hillary didn’t even align on one.

If by informed, you meant believed him, you are right. Remember, this is his first elected office and I can’t count how many lies I remember during the election. From the post above, “These decisions should take into account a candidate’s commitments, character, integrity.”

I believe him to have shown that he lacks character, integrity and commitment. The “non-negotiable” issues are not in the Church’s voters guide, which include other moral issue, and other life issues, such as poverty and immigration. I am not going to get into the whole, “but abortion” thing. If he was a good, honest man, I would agree these that it would be an almost over-whelming issue.

The point is, there is nothing contrary to Catholic teaching to prevent one for supporting Trump despite these failures, as the lesser evil, nor compelling one to support him because of these failures.

I love Trump and what he does. He had a great mind set on his agenda. He fights Isis, MS13 gang, border control, cares for his citizens, working for health care, bringing jobs back, employment is high, trillions of dollars are coming back into America, bringing jobs and corporations from other count…

I support the President. I did not vote for him, and he disgusts me on nearly every level, but he is our duly elected president, so by virtue of that alone I support him.
Wow. Let’s take that statement in, folks. So if you lived in Germany in 1939, you’d support Hitler, right? Or Stalin in 1933 Russia? Or Idi Amin? or Pol Pot? or Mao?

If you start quibbling about “duly elected” keep in mind Hitler was “duly elected” too.

Sorry. I don’t respect, honor, or in any way support Trump–or his supporters.

You have to be kidding. Trump is almost completely ignorant. We saw that in the debates, and we’re seeing it now every day. Trump speaking in Israel: “I just came here from the Middle East.” Hello!!! Israel is IN the Middle East!!! The nuclear triad? Trump hadn’t a clue. The fact that NATO is not a club where members pay dues? Nope. He doesn’t get that either. Matter of fact, he doesn’t get ANYTHING! He has no clue. The average guy (or woman) off the street would do a better job.

ot that it relates to his presidency, but multiple wives and affairs are mortal sins.
Ok he has a past.
He had multiple wives but he is not Catholic, he doesn’t believe in our teaching on that, so its not mortal

It was possible you just weren’t properly informed on what Trump’s position was on abortion
Which position is that? He’s had a couple different–opposing–positions. Could it be–gasp!–that he really doesn’t care and simply takes the most expedient position?

I was speaking objectively, as that is the only thing we can really know. Anything else belongs to God alone. If what you want to know is if he is going to Hell, that is not really a thing. Oh, and your “tic toc” is only five minutes after you asked. Patience is a virtue.

Yet it is only on one’s past that we can judge whether one with no experience would be a good leader.
