Do Catholics still support Trump

Some of them, yes. Take a look at St. Paul–when people came to him and asked what they should do about sinners in their congregation, Paul said to have a little talk with them. And if they sinned again? The whole congregation should get together and set them straight. And if they sinned again? Paul said to boot them out.
Does that translate as disrespect and hatred, which is the meaning of “despise”.

Trump is a Protestant and so he is already technically unable to be booted out of the Catholic Church. If he were Catholic he would have a lot more help and grace through the Sacraments so who knows how much better he would be.
  1. As Catholics we are not single-issue voters. A candidate’s position on a single issue is not suf cient to guarantee a voter’s support. Yet a candidate’s position on a single issue that involves an intrinsic evil, such as support for legal abortion or the promotion of racism, may legitimately lead a voter to disqualify a candidate from receiving support.”
No single issue voters, please. Anti-abortionists take note.
Your quote and your comment seem at odds, correct me if I’m wrong but are you saying that one can vote for a candidate who supports abortion? Because what you quoted says that would be one of the few cases we could be one issue voters.

l. This is not a courtroom. There is nothing about “innocent until proven guilty” (a legal concept) or “guilty beyond a reasonable doubt,” another legal concept, in judging the reputation of a person
Hello Erika , i just highlighted anything this is not to comment on moore but to you.
Are you ok in life, Im a practicing Catholic and very dedicated. I’m not a counselor or therapist just a ordinary man.
It sounds like you have lots of Amber build up inside you, and that’s Satan trying to destroy you.
Your using your earthly wisdom insteadof your heavenly wisdom.
Is there anyway you could ever like Trump?
Is there any prayers you need?

Absolutely. But that’s only half the story. And certainly as a Catholic I DO have the option to disrespect people–serial killers, rapists, corrupt politicians…the list goes on. There are different types of respect–you are talking about recognizing that they are human and have certain rights as human beings. Fine. No problem. give them a trial and then lock them away forever. But if they commit actions you think are abhorrent, should you “respect” them? Despise them, maybe. Did you respect Charles Manson?
Whataboutism? @pnewton

Trump supporter = in God’s favor… Trump critic = go to confession?
I know that’s not exactly what you said… but pretty darn close.

Yet they would POUNCE on any Democrat accused of sexual misconduct… both sides subscribe to the Double Standard rule.

Newt Gingrich didn’t get the memo.

Let’s just remember that accusations are just accusations.

When did the Church recommend this? Please provide a source. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has been strongly and vocally critical of Trump on a number of fronts.
His pro-life stance is objectively a good thing (though I can’t help but remember that he was a pro-choice Democrat in years past)… but he certainly did not have full support from the Church.

Appeal to authority of those who don’t do their homework and do understand a range of issues very well.

I was replying to a poster who claims that the Church told people to vote for Trump (or at least that was his implication “The Church recommended that we be single issue voters this year”). Trump’s pro-life stand is something that the Church can and does endorse… but it is false to suggest that the Church encouraged the faithful to not consider any other factors.

I’m okay with your opinions, especially if I mark your account.
MANY of Trumps most vocal opponents are fellow Republicans!
Thanks for writing.

Trump goes after the elite even if they are in his own party or have similar political views. Also, I’ve written before many times how conservatives have problems with excuse-making and virtue-signaling all the same.
The reason why more in the GOP don’t speak out is because they don’t have the guts and they don’t want to draw the ire of their
own party.
Sometimes it’s because they agree. But too much of the GOP acts gutless no question.
Some of them have been truly courageous though, such as the war hero John McCain.
McCain needs to take more of a conservative stand. Then, I’ll be impressed.

I think the “I really hope” covers that condition.
Well, I really hope President Trump is not molesting children in the White House.

“Really hope” makes the above sentence less stupid, but not a whole lot less.
All I know is Roy Moore has not been found guilty in a court of law.
No, and I really hope he has stopped having romantic relationships with under-aged girls.

When they say single-issue voting, I doubt they mean let’s just put mean words and the feelings of our Facebook friends ahead of abortion at the ballot box.

We should all support and pray for his agenda.
Uh, no. I will not pray for his agenda, though he managed to increase wealth disparity without my prayers, divide the country, increase racist rhetoric, make immigration more unjust.

And he is just getting started. There is a whole lot he wants that is not Christian.

Well we need to pray for his agenda.
So I’ll make it clearer because i understand texts come out different.
Lets pray that his agendas are from the Lord and Hev listens to the Lord in his agendas.
Is that better?

Whatever ot may be, i think your mad about something. Trust the Virgin Mary that she guides you in your struggles. May the Undoer of a knots pray for you

Catholic teaching:
As Catholics we are not single-issue voters. A candidate’s position on a single issue is not sufficient to guarantee a voter’s support. Yet if a candidate’s position on a single issue promotes an intrinsically evil act, such as legal abortion, redefining marriage in a way that denies its essential meaning, or racist behavior, a voter may legitimately disqualify a candidate from receiving support.
Are Catholics single-issue voters? No. As Pope Francis taught there are no negotiable morals. We need to drop this “non-negotiable” language, or at leas realize that it is of limited use.

Can promoting an intrinsically evil act disqualify a candidate? Yes. As I have said, I believed both major candidates to be disqualified from my vote this last election.

If a person is trying to get another person to hate someone that’s a sin. So if you are trying to get me to look at the President in a bad way then that’s a sin.
If a person is trying to get you to love someone then blessed is that person for doing God’s will.
We should be out there trying to convert the hearts of Man with the Paraclete.
Only God converts wev are just instruments. Amen?
