Dea chosen people. Please do not misunderstand me. I attempt to excuse no one who calls Jews dogs. It be far from me to tolerate. On the contrary, if I see such behaviour I first think there must be a misunderstanding.
I was merely saying that human behaviour is the driving force both with many Jews and many Christians and that in our humanity sinfull tendensies as well suspicion towards different people sometimes take the upper hand. We only allow our selves to regard ourselves as perpetual righteous victims if we dont learn to face our own weaknesses and thereby see the weaknesses of others as something similar to our own.
First, the point is that you are not going to suffer the consequences, that is the point. The progression towards being able to grasp and understand the God of Israel is gradual and will eventually come to all. If we look at developments after Catholicism, you will not find statues either in a Mosque or even in a Protestant church.
Interesting… so… what you are saying is that Protestantism and Islam are closer to an escatological fulfilment where you believe all people come to know the true G-d of the Jews?
(I of course cant help but wonder at the spread of knowlege and worship of the Jewish G-d that I already believe to be existing through the spread of Christianity)
But what then do you think about the belief in not being under any law which is held especially among many Protestants and Evangelicals … whereas Catholicism has something that looks a lot like Rabbinical tradition… a somewhat binding tradition-corpus of interpretation, saint litterature and Catholic canon law. Is law less important than statues…?
I find this whole thing with the criteria for salvation for gentiles interesting too, chosen people… Can you give me the some references in Torah where it says I have to only keep the decalog as a gentile ? I will be honest… I have not always kept these commandments and I suspect that I might be forced to offer a sacrifice of atonement until the day I die… that demands blood… but maybe not for me…? what does the gentile do to atone…? she does not pray for forgiveness from a Jewish G-d that she does not know… so what is the atonement for gentiles?
**Secondly, if you reject that Yehoshua bar Yosef was the messiah you can hardly be called a Christian. Similarily if you reject Torah or accept a human being as devine then you cannot be Jewish. **
Your first claim is true… but the other one is well… a slight bit too simplistic.
I do not know to what you refer to as “Jewish racism” and do not understand why you believe it justifies comparing Jews to dogs.
Well I am talking about ultraorthodoxy… they are known both by Gentiles and Jews to be very secluded and to look down on other poeple. I know of a Danish woman that walked in Jerusalem and a Jewish ultraorthodox spat at her only because she was wearing a tang top. … All I am saying is that among all people you can find some who are not doing themselves a favour by the way they act and who sow venom in other people’s hearts.
The question whether any religion can be deemed “democratic” is an interesting one but is hardly specific to Judaism.
Well I was not talking about Judaism per se… I was talking about certain groups in Israeli society. Unlike what you seem to think I ask out of interest and not with an intent to bash your beliefs or your country.
Ps… Do you know Tovia Singer? He works on your team, as you might know… trying to get Messianic Jews to deny Yeshua. Even though I dont agree with Tovia I must say I appreciate his love for God and his understanding of the Love of our heavlenly Father. He seems like a really good and genuine man.
I wonder if you have ever visited the Jerusalem messianic congregation of Shemen Sasson in your work to revert Messianics…? Its always a good thing to meet people face to face and see what turns them on before you try to convince them of something… At any rate… i know you are welcome to come, even as a sceptic. I have been there many times, even though I am a Catholic and not a Messianic Jew. And they are awesome people there
