Someone that every thought Rand was “inspiring” needs to get a higher education. He shouldn’t of ever stated that he was inspired by her. And she was on medicare and social security when she got older and didn’t Ryan get social security at one point. So he is just out to pet hands and get money that’s it pure gluttony is what the Romney ticket will get you and maybe your children wondering why their parents got it so wrong.

I would rather explain to my children, grandchildren and to God how I made a mistake, if any I made, in thinking Ryan’s approach to social security (which is the same as liberal Ron Wyden’s) a good idea, than to explain to them why I supported a promoter of abortion, homosexual marriage and persecution of the Church.

A lot rather.

You are talking to someone who would vote for Obama in any case, and who is trying to justify it. Won’t wash in this forum, however.

Amen.

I meant Romney is the cult member. And he hasn’t passed any Rand inspired laws yet. I think you are wrong about which way our state will vote. You must not see what i see happening. Do you go outside? Do you see the children that are homeless? I think your are stuck on old views of America we are no longer a great country due to money in politics. We no longer care about each other or the way others are struggling. I may live in a small town but i have deed in hand on my home and thats the only reason my family eats 3 meals a day. I am a Catholic also, but i was raised where everyone was equal and God was first by a Catholic father and a Pentecostal mother. So i have many different open minded views compared to all the old people living in old America. Wake up before its to late and get the money out of Govt. Im sure you are some 1% er that is living in KCMO thinking God you are able to pay your bills and buy food. You should be thinking the 1% for their tax breaks and praying for their gluttony.
I don’t know what part of Missouri you live in, and am not asking. But I live in the SW part and if I walk outside and all over the town I will not see homeless children if, by “homeless” you mean “out on the street”. A truly homeless child here will be picked up by the DFS posthaste and placed. Now, I’ll grant there is also the Missouri Hotel (largely supported by the 1% like the O’Reilleys and such…but they would be in the .0001% probably) where homeless families can live, be fed and aided in getting jobs.

But there are no homeless children running around loose.

I’m glad you own your home free and clear.

I know several people in the 1%, but I would not characterize any of them as greedy and gluttenous. Those are the kinds of people who support the Missouri Hotel, Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri, Springfield Catholic Schools and just about every civic project you can name.

It takes all kinds. I recall one of our former bishops saying of Southern Missouri that all the vocations come from Cape Girardeau and all the money to train them comes from Springfield. But for the latter, who is going to pay for the education of the former?

I guess our views will just remain different then. I will never Vote for Romney or Paul Ryan. As my husband said Paul Ryan is Sarah Palin with a penis. And i want my child to know he is no ones judge and that people are going to do what they will and we can only be responsible for our own actions and choices. I don’t see Obama asking his wife to get an abortion, but i don’t think its his right to tell other women they cannot. Its up to those woman and their own will to make that choice. Who are we or even the church to decide. its separate issue govt and religion don’t go together. America was founded on freedom of religion not contempt of your choice of religion. Or as my friend says its her soul and her vagina so get out of it. Oh and i wonder how many of you are divorced? Because that issue should be more pressing in The Church than woman of another religions choices. Sine no one has commented about divorce im sure there are many pro-life people that are scared to say they are divorced.

Perhaps you could tone down the graphic anatomical references??

“Who are we or the church to decide?” Isn’t the Church the representative of Christ on Earth? 🤷

America was founded on ideas of religious freedom, not freedom from morality. I suppose you can turn a blind eye to the Obama admin’s attempts to quash religous freedom.

I’ve been happily married for 8+ years, and never divorced, but thank you for the ad hominem.

Thank you for addressing this. 👍

When I go to vote this time my heart will be heavy as I know that I will vote for someone who will not completely be in line with my values. But, I feel so strongly about several issues that I am praying constantly for the Holy Spirit to give me the wisdom to vote for the candidate that will be most likely to get these serious issues fixed. Like it or not we simply have to stop spending before the USA becomes another Greece. Which candidate can do that? I am a senior and afraid about the future of Medicair and SS. Which candidate can fix that? I am pro-life, that would certainly make me like Paul Ryan. But, what about his budget proposals? I truly believe that I have to turn this over to God and try to hear what He says. I expect this to be very difficult resulting with me voting for the lesser of two evils, but following God’s plan for me.

If you are over 55, the changes to Medicare would not affect you. Everyone knows Medicare will be bankrupt, even the trustees, if something isn’t done.

We have to find a way to fix these problems, or Medicare and SS won’t be around for anyone.

Good luck on your search, and thank you for your sincerity!

Medicaid will only be bankrupt if it’s not funded, which is what Ryan wants. How can people 55 and over not be effected by Ryan’s proposals, if it’s not going to be funded?

I should have said “insolvent”, meaning we won’t have enough revenue to fund it.
The trust fund is considered insolvent when available revenue plus any existing balances will not cover 100 percent of annual projected costs. According to the latest estimate by the Medicare trustees (2011), the trust fund is expected to become insolvent in 13 years (2024), at which time available revenue will cover 90 percent of annual projected costs…

And no, it doesn’t stop funding Medicare, it changes the structure and raises the eligibility.

Do you mean MediCARE???

Please quote Ryan where he says he opposes funding either of them.

Then quote Romney saying the same thing.

What we do know, because the CBO says it, is that Obamacare will take $716 billion out of Medicare. We also know that by 2022 Medicare will pay less than Medicaid because the chief actuary for Medicare says that.

We also know Obama will load another 17 million people onto already-crowded Medicaid. We know that because he has acknowledged it.

I’ll wait for your quotes.

We have the money to fund it. Just end the war in Afghanistan and stop giving tax breaks to big oil corporations.

If people aren’t paying medicaid tax, the money will have to come from somewhere else and younger people who are not going to have any sort of assurance that they’ll have heath insurance in their senior years will balk at the taxes required to keep it going.

De-funding and ending Social Security and Medicaid, as may younger people in this forum seek, will be the first step toward Euthanasia become a reality.

When there will not be money allocated to support old people, there will be a call for the elderly to do their duty and die, rather than burden their grandchildren with the expense.

Luckily, OEF will cease in 2024, 10 years before Medicare when Medicare becomes insolvent.

Jim, the “tax breaks” oil companies receive are expense deductions that every other business in the country enjoys.

Perhaps we can stop throwing money at doomed to fail "green energy’ companies?

And again, no one has proposed to de-fund Medicare or SS. If you can provide a link to such, I would be very interested to see it.

I did link to the CBO report, which claimed the opposite.

As I said…we vote with our conscience. There are two viable candidates. One is pro-life…one is pro-abortion. I know who I’ll vote for.
There is no such thing as “pro-choice.” It is either pro-abortion or pro-death.
The thing is, viablity is only one factor that may be weighed and can receive weight differently depending on the individual.

Again, I did not say the person is a Protestant. Nor did I question his charity as you did mine.
And as I said, I did not question your charity. I stated a principle that applies to all of us. If nothing else, perhaps this will highlight to you how the poster to whom you accused his* idea* of being Protestant might take it personally, being it was* his* idea. And yes, it did offend him when he was doing nothing but following the Churches guidelines, if not the party line.
