Simple posturing. The truth is out now. Who cares what appearances were last month? We now know what NK really is doing.
You are right NK is posturing now, but it’s a fact they curtailed their testing the past two years. If it does start, it’s no worse than under Obama.
The issues with Boeing (737 Max) are exacerbated by Trump’s hardline - now China (Europe too) is involved in re-certification when they never would have been.
This is not a China issue as you yourself pointed out. Boeing screwed up and several countries are taking advantage of the weakness.

Regarding theft of IP, I’ve seen no evidence it’s worse under Trump. Certainly the illegal drugs were pouring in during the prior admin. Trump is gaining some cooperation to curtail the shipments.

You failed to prove your argument and throwing the ‘Taiwan’ name in there is a red herring.

More soldiers deployed than under Obama, and all along Trump says “End foreign wars”. I think he’s taking us all for fools.
…you need to see that Trump is a liar. He’s just telling us what he thinks we want to hear, and then doing the opposite. I don;t care if you support his position or not - the point is that he is a liar…
What should be done when politicians make promises and don’t keep them? You vote on the belief that these promises will be kept and they are not. Then you vote for someone new to replace him and the same thing happens over again?

This would be like China invading Canada and Mexico (Afghanistan and Iraq) and then bombing US military leaders visiting Canada since they put Chinese troops at risk…

wouldn’t we respond “Uh, Chinese troops have no business being here”??

Which is more important
Oil or
the lives of innocent children and civilians?
A false choice. If there was no heating oil, how many children would die in upper New York alone? Without cooking oil, how many children in Africa would die of food and water-borne parasite diseases?

No it wouldn’t. How many U.S. troops are in Iran? How many Iranian troops and agents are in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Gaza, Lebanon?

Soleimani was not killed in Iran. He was killed in Iraq, where he has an army that’s opposed by most Iraqis. He was totally in the wrong.

Was Carter so bad, what if he (flawed as it was) was a man trying to promote peace in this world here?
For peace to happen, shouldn’t we have to give? I feel like we wronged Iran because we support a coup back in the 50’s which seems to have lead to where Iran is today, making it our fault?

If there was no heating oil,
It is true that if the US and Britain had allowed Mossadegh to nationalize the oil industry, then the price of oil might be higher than what it is now, and American and British oil companies would suffer a loss in profits. But there would still be oil available. It is their oil after all. And besides, several other countries have oil to sell. And there are several alternate fuels such as gas, nuclear, solar, wind, ethanol, wind and coal. And there is electricity from batteries and from water driven sources.
If there was no heating oil, how many children would die in upper New York alone?
The answer is none. No children would die. Because first of all, oil would still be available even if nationalized and secondly, because there are many alternate sources of energy.
But how many children have been killed as a result of American interventionism in the Middle East, Afghanistan and elsewhere?

Pretty improbable. Iran is not much of a producer compared to S.A., Russia, Canada and the emirates.

Nobody is talking about nationalizing oil except you.

I don’t think anyone knows how many children have been killed in the Middle East because of the internecine wars there by people who take no measures to spare civilians. But regardless, I doubt it even comes close to the number of children killed by abortion-minded politicians in the U.S. alone since 1973.

And what “alternate sources” have you found for the cold parts of the earth? Peat perhaps? Twigs? Down blankets?

Regardless, this thread is about the Just War Doctrine, not nationalizing oil.

Wind. And there is plenty of oil and gas in Siberia.

Not true. Mossadegh spoke about nationalizing Iranian oil and he was thrown out of office with the support of the American and British oil interests.

AFAIK, the just war doctrine does not allow for America or Britain to conduct a war or to support the overthrow of a legitimate government leader because his country has decided to nationalize its oil industry.
I don’t think anyone knows how many children have been killed in the Middle East…
There may not be exact statistics available, but please see the information given in the above post (approx #58) referencing a report in the Scientific American blog network.

We’ve already had a string of “look the other way,” as you pay them 150 billion dollars, kind of presidents. It’s about time an American president stands up for righteousness. It’s refreshing.

Has it been pointed out yet (in this thread) that a drone strike isn’t a war?
It’s an undeclared war. When’s the last time the US actually declared war? Hint: the Constitution says a declaration of war requires an act of Congress.

In the past three years they have extended their long-range capabilities though.

And tearing up the treaty with Iran has not brought on any more stability in the Middle East. Or with our allies for that matter.

I’m all for fact-based discussions, and will be glad to admit I am wrong. But if you are seriously claiming our relationship with China is better or the same as it was under Obama then there is no point in continuing. Our relations with China at an all-time low, certainly worse under Trump than before.
It is pretty difficult to argue, based solely on superficial reporting, whether or not relations with China or NK or Iran were better under Obama. Obama enabled all of those regimes in some way or other.

China gained a great many military and technological “secrets” from US companies under Obama, permitting them to develop military and spying capacity they never had. It might appear, superficially, that things were more “peaceful,” but then I suppose appeasement under Chamberlain was “better” than war under Churchill. Uh, maybe not.

Obama sent 160 billion in cash to Iran on the promise they would not develop nuclear weapon capabilities. I suppose that was naive of Obama to assume the regime there could be trusted and that the bonus cash wouldn’t fund their most fanatical dreams. What if they only needed another year or two under the cover of “peace” to develop massive nuclear capability? Would that be better than being sanctioned into loss of political power under Trump? Perhaps not.

Ditto with NK.

The problem is that only some in power are in the know about what is happening. The rest of us are attempting to armchair quarterback the military situation without full knowledge of the situation.

I suppose I trust Trump more than I do the Iranian regime, Kim Jong-Un or the Chinese Communist party. And I wouldn’t suppose appeasement with such characters – as Obama did – was necessarily a wise policy.
