Well, he hasn’t exactly shown him the support he has shown his daughter, for example. The transparency tweet didn’t seem all that enthusiastic.
Transparency because the NYT was going to publish the emails.

He admitted that he meant with an agent of the Russian government with the intention on getting dirt on his campaign opponent. That is now a fact and cannot be disputed.
But that won’t stop the Trump faithful in their universe from trying.

so who do you think is leaking all these stories to the NYT besides Comey who already admitted to his leak possibly leaks?
I don’t have the faintest idea.

All I do know is that your federal law prohibits a U.S. citizen from solicting anything of value from a foreign national in the hopes of influencing an election.

And that’s a sticky wicky now, potentially, for the young Trump.
I have no idea either but maybe someone who wants Pence to finish out the term.

Junior’s credibility is pretty much gone at this point.
There needs to be a crime.

theresurgent.com/the-real-reason-democrats-are-freaking-out-about-donald-trump-jr/

The real reason is that the investigations are proving that Hillary broke the law. But Donald Jr. did not break the law.

So what has happened is that there is a resurgence of support for criminal investigations of Hillary Clinton. And her supporters.

If the Podesta brothers and other Democrats had just kept their mouths shut and accepted the results of the election, Hillary and Huma and the rest could have quietly skated.

**Clinton got a pass, and she knows it. And every Democrat now calling Trump Jr.’s action ā€œtreasonā€ knows it. They want equivalence so that later they can claim nobody has the high ground.

It’s true nobody has the high ground. But Clinton’s low ground, legally speaking (we won’t even delve into Sidney Blumenthal’s antics over two decades), is much, much lower than Trump Jr.’s.

The facts stand: Hillary Clinton committed felonies which were not prosecuted. Donald Trump Jr., on the facts in evidence, committed no crime.**

That extremely broad reading of the law would mean that any candidate or campaign worker (who is a US citizen) meeting with any foreign national providing campaign computer systems, telephone communications, transport fleet, interview technique training, stationary and posters, speech delivery training, election advice, medical treatment or even hairdressing would be guilty. All of these would be of value and could influence an election.

So if Clinton set up a meeting with a foreign national who provided wardrobe advice that would be a crime under that reading.

Receiving foreign sourced money into a campaign IS a violation of the Federal Election laws.

The law is very specific.

A crime.

But now we have the Clinton Foundation … which collected $135 million from Russia for Uranium One, etc … ā€œClinton Cashā€, the book … whose ā€œaccountantā€ is the brother of former FBI director [and leaker in chief] James Comey.

[But Bill Clinton did receive large dollar amounts from Buddhist nuns. And he didn’t get prosecuted.]

[Names like Charlie Trie come to mind.]

And then there were all the mysterious violent deaths.

Sounds today as if this will soon go away …

The Russian Lawyer is tied to Fusion GPS - the Trump Dossier - opposition research …

And she met with Obama Ambassador after the Trump Jr meeting …

And she was not supposed to be in the Country [per Senator Grassley] but somehow the Obama Administration made it happen  and she magically got the credentials to enter the Country … businessinsider.com/donald-trump-jr-email-chain-natalia-veselnitskaya-visa-expired-chuck-grassley-2017-7

And for those who don’t like to read insider.foxnews.com/2017/07/12/charles-grassley-why-was-russian-lawyer-allowed-us-trump-jr-meeting

As I said last night -

We know the Russians meddled in many ways … with outreach to both sides in the campaign [Hedging bets?].

We don’t know all who sought out this info - but we know some of the actors - Jeb Bush - opposition on Trump, ditto for Clinton, McCain too … and the FBI eventually  and all for garbage info - including the possibility of payments 😦

It looks like they had to actually reach out to engage the Trump Team and once they did and scheduled a meeting the Trump Team walked away … 🤷

The more info that comes out - which seems to be implicating ā€œI told Putin to Cut it Out!ā€ Obama … in Fusion GPS and the Trump opposition research … - This is not making America look good - and this is not Trump’s doing … sheesh

Very odd.

The NYT article cited does not actually state the law, though it gives the citation the writer thinks is applicable. The article itself never really focuses on what the law does or does not prohibit, merely saying nobody seems to know how it applies in cases like this.

One real oddity in the cited statute is this: (in prohibiting donations by ā€œforeign nationalsā€ to election campaigns)

"ā€œForeign nationalā€ defined. As used in this section, the term ā€œforeign nationalā€ means—
(1)
a foreign principal, as such term is defined by section 611(b) of title 22, except that the term ā€œforeign nationalā€ shall not include any individual who is a citizen of the United States; or

(2)
an individual who is not a citizen of the United States or a national of the United States (as defined in section 1101(a)(22) of title 8) and who is not lawfully admitted for permanent residence…"

Now, understanding that the statute prohibits acts of foreigners, not citizens, it doesn’t seem to apply to Veselnitskaya anyway. Editing to pull it together, it says ā€œā€¦ā€˜foreign national’ shall not include an individual who is not lawfully admitted for PERMANENT RESIDENCE.ā€

Was that intended?

A bit hard to work with sentence structure and the double negatives, but the statute would seem not to apply to Veselnitskaya because she is NOT a permanent resident.

It’s no wonder the article doesn’t seem to know where to go with this.

We now know that the highest levels of the Trump campaign attempted to gain information that was damaging to their opponent from an agent of the Russian government. We probably shouldn’t lose sight of this after months of being told by Trump and his supporters that this was a ā€˜nothingburger’.

And that Trump can shot someone on Fifth Avenue and still keep his supporters.

Transparency because the NYT was going to publish the emails.
Still a lot of questions. How did she get their email addresses? Why wasn’t the FBI alerted? The timelines are clarifying things a bit, even if they can’t find that single item which can convict them.
