It will be sooner rather than later. We’re seeing the fulfillment of several Biblical prophecies related to Israel, specifically:
- It is “a land … born in one day” (Isaiah 66:8). What’s more, it was “born”, not “created”. In every other nation that was a former British protectorate/territory/colony/whatever, there was always a ceremony where power was transferred: the British flag was lowered and the new national flag was raised at the seat of government. In the case of Israel, there was no such ceremony – the British simply walked away, abandoning it, as it were. It’s birth was an act of G_D.
- The Time of the Gentiles is complete. Jerusalem is no longer under Gentile control, but under Jewish control.
There are a few other prophecies that have yet to be fulfilled; the pieces are rapidly falling into place for their fulfillment in the next few years. There is the War of Psalm 83 – with the announcement of the formation of a unity government between Fatah and Hamas I can see that happening sometime in 2015 or 2016. When that is completed, Israel will have control not only over Gaza, but over Judea and Samaria. This will fulfill
Ezekiel 37:15-22.
Remember that in Catholic Eschatology, what we’re approaching is not the end of the world, or the end of time, but the end of an era.
