Are we free to disbelieve them, too?
Hi Faith 1960: Yes! we are free to either accept or not accept iows to believe or not believe, The Church does not say we have to believe anyone who makes any private revelations etc. and we are always free to reject it if one wants. This is because what one says is not Church teachings or doctrines but only what someone says or writes which is not official but personal. hope that helps. blessings and peace.

Are we free to disbelieve them, too?
I hope so because I don’t believe in Sister Faustina’s message regarding the warning. I cannot find any mention of this in the Bible and it was not mentioned to the children at Fatima. I do believe in the prophecy of the three days of darkness. This could happen if a solar flare hit us. A Solar flare narrowly missed us in 2012. Here is the link to the story.

That’s my feeling on the subject. What do you say to those who say three things must happen before the Second Coming:
  1. a great apostasy
  2. preaching the Gospel to all nationsj
  3. the conversion of Israel.
What do you say to those who claim most of the above has happened already and the Second Coming will be soon, within the next few years? Maybe in a generation or two ?
  1. the great tribulation of the church: see CCC 675
  2. the preaching of the Gospel to all nations: see Mt 24:14
  3. the conversion of Israel: See CCC 674
Again, we have been in the end times for almost 2000 years: see CCC 670.

Second coming within the next few years? I would never speculate either way.

There is nothing happening today that hasn’t taken place over the past 2000 years.
Technology is happening. All commerce can be completely controlled through the implantation of an rfdi chip, where if you don’t have one you couldn’t plug into the system to make any purchases.

The ability to have total control over the entire planet exists today in a way it hasn’t prior to the technological revolution. It is breath taking how the world is being primed for the Antichrist through the media, public schools, universities, movies, music, internet, and social media. Instantaneous global reach through technology has never existed before. The ability exists for the Antichrist to know who people are, where they are, and what they believe in. We are offering up that information now.

The widespread acceptance of gay marriage, and marginalization of those who don’t accept it is new. This would have never been tollerated by the vast majority of humanity before today. This new reality is fostering an intense world wide hatred of Christians, and especially Catholics. We are IMO on the verge of seeing Churches being closed who won’t cater to gay marriages. We are also on the verge of Christianity becoming a thought crime. In today’s world the Antichrist wouldn’t even have to try to turn people against Christianity, because the world is going there enthusiastically all on its own. People will clomour for the mark of the beast because it will be the hottest new must have technology.

Actually I think there are quite a few things happening in the world today that simply wouldn’t have been either tollerated or possible prior to the 20th century, and especially the 21st century. This is a vastly different time than any prior time in human history.

John Paul II said that the “gospel would be preached to all nations” sometime in this the Third millenium which has to happen before the end.

Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
I’m curious what nations still haven’t had the Gospel preached to it. I think they have pretty much all been covered unless I’m missing something.

There is a difference between the lights going out, and being in total darkness for 3 days. A solar flare could knock the lights out on the sun facing side. A solar flare can’t cause three days devoid of sunlight. The world will have no light for three days, and that includes sunlight.

If you go to Google and enter “gospel shortwave radio” you’ll find list upon list of different ministries preaching the Gospel on different frequencies targeting different parts of the world. All of these ministries also have internet services, so people can get them on their laptops. I think it’s safe to say that all nations have heard the Gospel.

So, the end could be tomorrow or a million years from now?

Well, a million years is likely way too long, but that’s the gist of it, yes.
It will be sooner rather than later. We’re seeing the fulfillment of several Biblical prophecies related to Israel, specifically:
  1. It is “a land … born in one day” (Isaiah 66:8). What’s more, it was “born”, not “created”. In every other nation that was a former British protectorate/territory/colony/whatever, there was always a ceremony where power was transferred: the British flag was lowered and the new national flag was raised at the seat of government. In the case of Israel, there was no such ceremony – the British simply walked away, abandoning it, as it were. It’s birth was an act of G_D.
  2. The Time of the Gentiles is complete. Jerusalem is no longer under Gentile control, but under Jewish control.
There are a few other prophecies that have yet to be fulfilled; the pieces are rapidly falling into place for their fulfillment in the next few years. There is the War of Psalm 83 – with the announcement of the formation of a unity government between Fatah and Hamas I can see that happening sometime in 2015 or 2016. When that is completed, Israel will have control not only over Gaza, but over Judea and Samaria. This will fulfill Ezekiel 37:15-22.

Remember that in Catholic Eschatology, what we’re approaching is not the end of the world, or the end of time, but the end of an era.

So will we all die at the end of this era?

NO! :tsktsk: :banghead:

I really don’t know what is giving you ideas like this. Yes, we are entering a time of chastisement. The heavenly goal is not to see how much fear and pain can be inflicted upon humanity, but rather, to produce a faithful remnant.

The best I can offer is the advice that St. Padre Pio gave to those who worried about future times:

***Pray, hope, and don’t worry! ***

Remember: you were born for these times! G_D is not going to put you here only to abandon you. He will keep you as close to Him as you let yourself be close to Him!

Oh for Pete’s sake. Spell it out from beginning to end; what happens?

Oh for Pete’s sake! Spell it out from beginning to end?

Ain’t gonna happen.

Are you looking for a timetable? Only the Father knows.

Scripture talks about signs, but there’s nothing there to point to a specific date, or even what’s going to happen first. We won’t know the day, but we can know the times and season.

So what is it that you’re looking for?

Earlier you said the Second Coming isn’t the end of the world or end of time, but the end of an era. So, if we don’t die, it’s not the end of time or the world, then what does happen, IYO?

Yes, only HE knows. Everything else is speculation and opinion. Nothing more.😉

I’m trying to explain this without falling into dispensationalism, so please bear with me.

In Catholicism, you can think of an “era” as a period of time defining how G_D relates to His people. The period of time where G_D spoke directly to His people is one era; the time period where He spoke through His prophets is another era. There aren’t any hard and fast beginnings and ends to these periods. In pregnancy, for example, you have the time before the pregnancy, you have a 9-month period where you are a parent to a child who isn’t yet in your arms; later, you are. One era has ended, another has begun.

Today, in Catholic terms, we’re in the era where G_D is relating to us through His Son, in the form of the Holy Eucharist. G_D is preparing (or TRYING to prepare us) for a time – a new era – where He will relate to us in a new way. Now, today, when we eat His Body and drink His Blood, we only sense the taste of bread and wine. Only a few people have been given the gift of sensing – on occasion – His presence in the Eucharist. I’m one of those who believe (IMNSHO) that at some point in the near future, the veil that blocks our senses will be removed, or at least made that much thinner, so that we all will be able to directly sense His presence.

Since this is an enormous grace, G_D is going to want to “clear the air” of the sin and moral pollution in the world. This is the “Chastisement”, or purification. We do not know the exact form the Chastisement will take, other than it will involve persecution on some level and in some form. There will be martyrs. In the end, a faithful remnant will remain, and we will live in a new era.

Does this help?

There are no signs of the end of times and your biblical references point to nothing. You are simply speculating without any basis. We are not seeing any prophecies fulfilled and the Church does not have any teachings OR position on that. It is simply your private opinion.

.
The establishment of the State of Israel was done by a UN general assembly resolution. The Catholic Church places no Eschatological significance on the event.

Again, there is nothing in Church teaching concerning any of this. You seem to be confusing the teaching of the Catholic Church with the dispensationalist theology of certain protestant sects.

This too is wrong. From the Catechism:
670 Since the Ascension God’s plan has entered into its fulfillment. We are already at “the last hour”. “Already the final age of the world is with us, and the renewal of the world is irrevocably under way; it is even now anticipated in a certain real way, for the Church on earth is endowed already with a sanctity that is real but imperfect.” Christ’s kingdom already manifests its presence through the miraculous signs that attend its proclamation by the Church.
681 On Judgment Day at the end of the world, Christ will come in glory to achieve the definitive triumph of good over evil which, like the wheat and the tares, have grown up together in the course of history.
682 When he comes at the end of time to judge the living and the dead, the glorious Christ will reveal the secret disposition of hearts and will render to each man according to his works, and according to his acceptance or refusal of grace.
