It was a specific attack. She mentioned Notre Dame, she was talking about the “Touchdown Jesus” as the image that is there is often called. It appears it was an onslaught against the Catholic school and its Catholic religious affliation in connection to the school specifically given the other statments.

Mike Golic graduated from ND & it was his roast, he is Catholic. The ND coach Charlie Wies was present. Everyone found it in bad taste, both Mikes included. She was booed off stage by the audience.

Dana did apologize, she was drinking at the time & used very bad judgment. At least from media reports that’s the story.

**Wasn’t Mel Gibson dragged through the fire for “bad judgment” after having a few drinks? Recall, Abe Foxman and the ADL wouldn’t cut him any slack just because he had a few too many. Foxman said something like “…Gibson’s true self came out with the drinks…” So Dana Jacobson said even worse (cursing the Son of God) but doesn’t that reveal what is truly in her heart as it did Mel Gibson?

I cannot help but believe that hating God’s Son is woven into the culture of ESPN. " Many a true word is spoken in jest" This is what ESPN is like out of camera range…it is the atmosphere Dana Jacobson is comfortable in. **

here’s another article from the AP: ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5jgD30IPAiaCpbi3EeH11HN_cUibwD8UBSA300

I asked for her termination. Good Luck! Don Imus got fired for racist comments. Ms. Jacobson gets a one week suspension. I guess if enough people complain, maybe they will do something. I think Onemilliondads.com was involved in a campaign and they have some pretty good success at combating the liberal media broadcasting companies.

Don’t expect ESPN to chastise her…it’s not going to happen. She is part of that ESPN culture. They will NOT exile one of their own. She knew her parameters BEFORE she blasphemed Our Savior. It was safe ground for her.

She needs prayers for conversion…she is poor, lost soul.

Mike Tirico was once let got for awhile for sexual harrassment in the early 90s. Same thing happened to Harold Reynolds.

Jimmy the Greek got let go because he said black men don’t have the cranial capacity to play quarterback.

So basically,

ethnicity and gender > God, according to our media.

This could be because Christians are fragmented…they are not unified.

Using the “F” word shows absolutely NO CLASS…it is a sign of the gutter. Off camera on ESPN I would bet my bippy they are all the same as Jacobson.

They, in their corrupted hearts, have the notion that if Our Lord is demeaned relentlessly He will cease to be who He is…the Son of God.

It never was this bad since the Latin Rite was abandoned.

Below is the text of the letter I sent to Disney at TWDC.Corp.Communications@disney.com.

It is a shameful commentary on the American media in general it wasn’t until this morning I heard of Dana Jacobson’s “F— Jesus” comment that she made at the Mike & Mike Celebrity Roast on January 11, 2008. And I didn’t hear it from the media; I had to read it on a blog. For Disney (and ABC and ESPN) in particular, your weak attempt at discipline does not fool anyone into believing that YOU believe Ms. Jacobson did anything wrong. Had Dana Jacobson said, “F— Allah” she wouldn’t have been employed by your group as of Monday morning, January 13. The point is not that one comment is more offensive than another; the point is that they are equally as offensive and should be held to the same standards. I have already written ESPN but I will take it a notch higher and tell you that I will not sample ANY Disney products as long as Ms. Jacobson is employed by ANY Disney entity. All of the Disney owned TV channels (including all ESPN and ABC) will be blocked out on my TV. I will not allow my children to read any Disney material or watch any Disney DVDs they already own. Obviously we won’t be purchasing any more. It is a shame that it always comes down to money and the only ethics large corporations understand is the almighty dollar. I am going on a one-man mission to try and take as much money out of Disney’s pockets as I possibly can. I’m going to try to hurt your “ethics” where you understand them; namely in your wallet. I will do everything in my power, through e-mail, internet and personal contacts to let everyone know about Dana Jacobson’s shameful, indefensible comment and the Disney Corporations equally shameful, indefensible lack of response to those same comments.

Great letter.

I wrote them an email as well as Mike.Soltys@espn.com Mike.Soltys@espn.com. I am copying the “auto” response below.

Thank you for taking the time to write.

Dana Jacobson’s actions and comments during the Mike and Mike roast were inappropriate and she has been disciplined.

Dana extends her deepest apology and asked that we send you her comment: “I am very sorry. My remarks about Notre Dame were foolish and insensitive. I respect all religions and did not mean anything derogatory by my poorly chosen words. I also deeply regret the embarrassment I have caused ESPN and Mike and Mike. My actions at The Roast were inappropriate and in no way represent who I really am. I have personally apologized to many of the people involved. I won’t make excuses for my behavior but do hope that I can be forgiven for such a poor lack of judgment.”

We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to respond.

Sincerely,
ESPN Viewer Response

It’s not really us she needs to ask forgiveness from…

Great letter.
I concur, it is a great letter. But why do I get the feeling that it will make no impact on hardened hearts?

One can imagine that we are going through a separation…as Christ foretells: “…a separation of the sheep from the goats…”

When He comes to judge His friends will be on His right and His enemies on His left. Those that curse Him, by their own free will, are His enemies.

We pray for their conversion so that they might enjoy being in His company for all eternity.

The other alternative is unthinkable!

**Dana Jacobson STILL doesn’t get it ! Her offensive remarks about the University is NOT what wounds…it is her remarks about Our Lord Jesus that offends not just to our hearts but TO OUR SOULS. this poor woman has a disconnect with the spiritual and hasn’t a clue. She is “sorry” BUT “sorry” for what?

It sounds sociopathic. Dana Jacobson is a lost soul and should be pitied and prayed for. This is not an apology…it is merely a collection of stock words . She can never apologize if she doesn’t know how she offended./B]

Incidents like this are really just a symptom of a much deeper set of problems, at the root of which are secularism and modernism. Unless those issues are dealt with, then we could swat at people disrespecting Christ all day long and achieve nothing.

Though what she said was very insensitive and blasphemous (though she probably did not see it that way) it is really just a drop in the ocean of secularism which our society is increasingly drowning in. Certainly, television alone brings us so much garbage that even if she were fired it would make little difference. This woman spoke insultingly of Our Lord, yes. But place her in the midst of everything else we see on television - rampant sexual immorality, moral and religious relativism, secular lies about the Church and Christianity, and more disrespect for just about everything than I care to list. Nothing is sacred to the entertainment industry.

I wonder if a better stand to make would be to turn off your television and say goodbye to the trash which is served up to us on a constant basis. Now that is a message and your family would probably be better for it.

Television is just the medium, of course. The problem is the content. And that content is only getting worse as time goes on, unfortunately.

**She needs to know Him to be able to realize the magnitude of her trespass. It’s apparant she has a circle of friends that are just as she…it is not a stretch that the upper echelon of ESPN are exactly the same…they need to be prayed for as well.

But when it all boils down: IT IS ABOUT FREE WILL. **

She needs to know Him to be able to realize the magnitude of her trespass.
That is quite true. And honestly I wonder if getting her fired would move her closer to knowing Him.

Would it move anyone closer to knowing Him?

I am not saying I have the correct answer to these questions. I just think they should be asked.

As Catholics, the good of souls is our top priority. So let us keep that goal in mind.

I said goodbye to the trash a long time ago; it’s called a channel changer. The last time I watched a show with any regularity was MAS*H. Whatever has come out since then, I have missed completely. I no longer watch the so-called “major” networks excecpt for occasional sports programming. If you come into my TV room you will find cable news, some sports, children’s fare (selected by my wife and me, not the children!), EWTN and what we choose to watch on DVD. That’s it. If you choose to jettison the whole thing I certainly wouldn’t fault your choice and can easily understand it! 😉

I’ve been watching EWTN pretty much exclusively lately…with an occasional dash of news thrown in. In fact, I’ve been arguing with the cable company about their rates and telling them I only want EWTN otherwise I would have turned it off. 😉

Yeah, there are still some good things on tv. I mean, I am watching MST3K via my computer between posts here 😃 It’s the episode with “The Final Sacrifice” if there are any MSTies reading.

That makes it all the more unfortunate that there is so much filth on. It is a powerful medium.

Anyway, getting back to what I was saying, I feel like even if this woman is fired it would not really make things better. It isn’t going to stop them from making shows like Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives, or any of the other degenerate rubbish that is on. What really needs to happen is a change to the prevailing societal morality. And that naturally starts with us and our families.
