Who sponsors ESPN?
Maybe they are the ones to write to since ESPN doesn’t seem to be listening.

As I said in an earlier post, ESPN (and ABC) are owned by Disney Corporation. Please read post #27 in this thread. You can get Disney’s e-mail address as well as see what I wrote to them.Who sponsors ESPN?

I was thinking primarily about the advertisers, not the owners. You know, where they say, “This has been brought to you by ABC Products”. If the advertisers pull their accounts or threaten to pull them, it might make them listen. After all, this would hit them in their pocket books. As I said in an earlier post, ESPN (and ABC) are owned by Disney Corporation. Please read post #27 in this thread. Yes it is!Is this the same ESPN that fired Rush for making an observation on the media on how they handle McNabb?
Kudos to you ! That is a great parallel! ESPN has selective bias…Our Savior is fair game for them.Is this the same ESPN that fired Rush for making an observation on the media on how they handle McNabb?
So I guess it wasn’t aimed at “a particular faith” so it’s OK. And it was at an “adult-only” roast, so the kiddies weren’t affected. And since it wasn’t “aired on any ESPN outlet”, it’s just not their problem. Anyone else thinking of Pontius Pilate right now?**Thank you taking the time to write.
Ms. Jacobson’s inappropriate comments were delivered in the context of Notre Dame football and its Touchdown Jesus icon . They were wrong and inexcusable , and she was suspended from her duties. Her uncharacteristic behavior was not aimed at a particular religious faith. They took place at an adult-only roast that was not aired on any ESPN outlet.
We appreciate your giving us the opportunity to respond.
Sincerely,
ESPN Viewer Response**
That’s a good question. I listen and/or watch “Mike and Mike” every weekday morning and I haven’t heard them say anything. They probably aren’t supposed to. Anway, I just emailed them about the Majerus situation. I don’t like how that one is being portrayed. The comments were made at a roast for Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic who host the Mike and Mike show on ESPN radio.
I do not listen to their show, but does anyone know if they made any comments about this?
I don’t like it either. What’s up with ESPN? I didn’t see this coming at all. I’ve been trying to find out if anyone else has seen the following article.Anway, I just emailed them about the Majerus situation. I don’t like how that one is being portrayed.
I am upset she said what she said BUT I am getting increasingly uneasy about a culture thats terminates a person becuase of a random comment. There are now legions of people listneing to every word a public figure says in hope of that “Gotcha” moment they can use to destroy a person. I have never seen this person before and proabably never will but dont think she should be terminated over this.why stop at firing her? if she were living in afghanistan, where they still know how to administer justice, she would be sentenced to death for blaspheming god. that’s what happened to a journalist there just recently who circulated a story about how muhammad was an adulterer and a warmonger. note he didn’t actually write the article, he just circulated it. that will teach him a lesson!
Yes it is. I can remember Chris Berman and Tom Jackson nearly in (fake) tears during the next episode. When these “controversies” arise, ESPN has always “erred” on the side of political correctness. The devil’s influence is heavy in the media. I wonder, like others have, if Mike and Mike mentioned it on their morning show. I find them typically PC too. The suspension by itself doesn’t even bother me…it’s that she only gets a suspension when others get far worse for much less.Is this the same ESPN that fired Rush for making an observation on the media on how they handle McNabb?
I have to disagree with you here. The Catholic League does not speak for me universally. If you go back and read the 2 news releases on the 22nd and the 23rd, Mr. Donohoe gave a lot more detail than he did in this particular release. If Mr. Donohoe wants me to get on his “bandwagon” then I need to know exactly what questions he asked of ESPN and exactly what the answers were. And that still doesn’t guarantee that I will have the same response Bill Donohoe did. He is entitled to his opinion on this matter just as I am. If he wants to sway my opinion I’ll need a lot more information than, “Therefore, as far as the Catholic League is concerned, this matter is over.”ESPN GETS THE MESSAGE: NO MORE VERBAL ASSAULTS ON JESUS
January 24, 2008“The ESPN officials whom I spoke to answered the questions I had to my satisfaction. Therefore, as far as the Catholic League is concerned, this matter is over.”

Sounds good to the Catholic League, sounds good to me.
You seem to forget the “F” word was used to the Son of God.Does anyone else think people are going a little overboard here. I think some people have been way too hard on Don Imus and Kelly Tilghman. They both apologized for their remarks and stated that they did not mean to hurt anyone. Same thing happened here. Just because Imus was fired and some people are calling for Tilghman’s head, does not mean we need to respond in kind just to even the score.
I think both Jacobson and ESPN realize the offensiveness of her remarks and have taken appropriate action. This action includes an apology from Jacobson and a one week suspension by ESPN. The Catholic League is satisfied: catholicleague.org/release.php?id=1383 and I think we should be as well. Would she have been fired if her comments were directed to Mohammed or MLK in a similar manner? Probably, but I would not agree with that either. She made a mistake. She apologized. She has been punished. Let’s drop it and move on with spreading the Good News of forgiveness, rather than the ugliness of whiny righteous indignation.
I continue to tell people not to stop with ESPN. Go directly to Disney Corporation which owns ESPN. You can complain to them at TWDC.Corp.Communications@disney.com.I think it is time to just tell ESPN that we can get our sports news elsewhere - a source which does not further the cause of murdering innocents in the womb.
