Ethics in Journalism: Why is the press so gullible?

I think that we all know that it isn’t just overzealous parenting (in regard to faith) that leads to children denouncing the things that we believe and going off to live lives that are the total opposite. Sometimes, children just think, to quote Paul Harvey: “what is bad is good, and what is good is… square”. Not everyone will be dissuaded from that notion.
This is well thought out. Thank you. You bring up some points worth investigating. I have witnessed this phenomenon many times with children who rebel against their parents and what is obviously the known common sense good. If they would only realize what would make them happy.

I am optimistic but, also a realist. It is easy to see the evil and self-serving at work to destroy in this world. However, there are groups springing up everywhere that believe we are moving into a more spiritual age. Spiritual in the sense that we will become more centered on the soul and mental advancement of the human condition. All life, interior life, human dignity, would be the focal point of technology and self advancement. Materialism would, eventually, become less desirable. For Catholics it would be an awareness that is based on , Mathew 18:20 "“For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

I believe there are signs for this. It is an intuitive observation and not very easy to logically present. I have often wanted to post a few concepts on CAF but it is so complicated.

I believe the key to this is self mastery in Jesus.

If we go there, somebody is going to have to list falsehoods tweeted by the President. Let’s just not.
That would be impossible anyway here as he has made more than 10,000 false or misleading statements since he was elected.

Global cooling does not exist !!
Ice ages (plural) supposedly have happened “according to science,” maybe 4 times all before humans were on the planet. Which means 4 global warming happened also. HERE

The press isn’t gullible.
They know exactly what they’re doing, the words to use and the emotional buttons to push, how to describe events in a way to ascribe heroes and villains, but not be outright lying.

It’s us who are gullible.

But geology proves those changes weren’t within the space of 1 generation. Unlike this time with humanity pumping pollutants into the biosphere at an industrial rate.

I think a lot of modern communication is like this.
OTOH, maybe “Let your ‘yes’ be ‘yes’ and your ‘no’ be ‘no’” regardless of the outcome has always been a high standard. Still, I think we are square into the age of Newspeak. Orwell saw it coming…it just didn’t take government to implement it. Commerce was right in there on the project.

A forum is a discussion of ideas.
People to the far left and the far right of most issues believe they are correct. They do not want a discussion.
Issues cannot be solved unless they first are discussed.

I am no journalist, however it is widely known that the media will use anything they can to grab the readers attention.

Their main focus should be accuracy, truthfulness and objectiveness. However it is very common that they focus excessively on causing shock to sell more. There are also other times were they do not corroborate all the information published or the truthfulness of what they report.

What I do dislike is that they (not in all countries thankfully) will show graphic injury pictures or even pictures of death people as a front page, just to sell more. Having absolutely zero respect for the privacy of the family and friends of the injured person or deceased person.

If you take away the profit there is no motivation to innovate.
Do you know what holds back innovation in commercial aircraft, particularly in the single aisle sector? The duopoly between Airbus and Boeing, the competition between them holds them both back, we have endlessly re-engined airframes because neither of them can afford to be the first to bite at a clean sheet design.
Government never produces anything. It is always the individuals who invent.
However government can support ideas that aren’t ready for commercial use yet. Think about the Li+ battery powering your phone, the technology was originally created by a US government research programme. Or the electronic computer itself, a British government wartime necessity.

A few thoughts

NASA says the universe is 13.7 B yrs old +/- 1%

ERGO

Based on the previous link provided, If we have had 4 ice ages according to science, then we’ve also had 4 warmings.… without humans being on the planet.

SO

14B yrs ➗ 8 eras (warmings and ice ages) = 1.75B yrs in time per each age … whether we’re here or not… even if everything is absolutely perfect… these occur, according to science, correct?

What that tells me, is that nothing that happens on this planet effects these eras/ages described, either for or against , nor shortening or lengthening these eras that will happen. Realistically speaking, according to science, These eras/ages will happen regardless of what we do or don’t do.

Just observing

You’d perhaps like to read some more on that. I was at a conference with the secretary general of the UN not long ago and the worldwide consensus (NASA included) doesn’t go along the line of thought you expressed.

I posted links. Was my name on any of them? No

Point being, science isn’t in full agreement. So is this true or not?

With identical opinions that come out of the mouths and pens of more than 90% of the media, it’s like they follow the same marching orders. The Leftist media (which is more than 90% of the media) never seem to disagree on opinions of any big issues. They even often use the exact same words and arguments.
And, if President Trump were to find a cure for cancer, I bet most of the media would find a way to call Trump’s cure for cancer racist, or sexist, or something.

That is a very good observation. For many years, the major newspapers had ‘style guides’ for journalists. These were not about writing style exactly, but which words and phrases were appropriate in certain cases. This was done, at first, more for internal use and about using similar terms when certain subjects came up. When journalism crosses the line into “issue advocacy” then problems occur. Only news built around those issues is deemed important.

You posted about “historical ice ages” not “current global warming” those are different matters altogether.

There has to be some bad faith in confusing the two on purpose…

I’m pretty sure few people actually hate AOC and mostly pay attention to her to make fun of her like how people used to watch the Kardashians to make fun of them.

Let’s not forget the mean librarian bun she likes to wear her hair in. I think her stern, no-nonsense aesthetic contrasts hilariously with her behavior. Like a child dressing up in daddy’s suite trying to act all grown-up.
