Evolution states we have a common ancestor with monkeys so how is this true and there is no change of kind recorded is history !

Every species will go extinct eventually. The average mammal species lasts about 500,000 years before going extinct. Your “temporary” benefit can last for a long time.
We are getting closer… good.

OK, what are the odds of an intelligent designer appearing. Show us your calculations please. Remember, that if the odds are low, then the odds of intelligent humans are similarly low.

If you want an omniscient intelligent designer then you will need to factor that into the odds calculation as well.
Can we agree on the UPB value?

I’m sometimes unsure of the theory myself, but there seems to be other evidences, and tradition speaks of men as monkeys without souls who “evolved” into Adam and Eve.

I’m afraid I don’t understand your question. What are the odds of no intelligent G-d?

All I have noticed is people who don’t believe in the Catholic Church and atheists on the side of evolution and this is why it’s a lie spread by the Demons of the world to help there agenda spread disinformation about the creation of life and then people just use scientific jargon to try back up the claims that it’s real and these same people will complain that faith is blind when they have no proof for the theory hence the word theory !
Don’t worry. We have evidence, logic and reason on our side. When they are stretching to the multiverse they have the “blind faith”. Evo’s now have “blind faith” too. They have faith in the god of BUC (blind unguided chance).

You mean that if I know facts a, b and c, with certainty, then I can predict that ‘d’ is a likely outcome. (Note - likely outcome. Tentative. Not certain.)

Is that what you mean by “predictable”?
Cos you didn’t qualify the necessity to have evolution under control in a test tube in order to ‘predict’ that some mutations are beneficial - in the absence of all other confounding variables.
All scientific predictions have error bars on them because we cannot measure the (name removed by moderator)uts completely accurately. Evolutionary predictions are no different. One of the things you learn in a science class is how to work with errors, and ensure that your experiment minimises them.

All those pre-election polls have error bars, that “±3%” you often see. That is the same thing. You can only get an exact answer if you have an exact measure of the (name removed by moderator)uts.

Any biologist can predict the result of the Lederberg experiment and the Luria-Delbrück experiment. With a few tens of millions of bacteria, the odd strange mutation will be lost in the crowd.

So take 3.5 billion years x .2 microns per bacterium x 1.5 meters of one type (!) of bacteria spread over the earth’s surface = a number my calculator can’t deal with. But that’s the number evolution has to work with.
Whatever that number is, it measures a meaningless “years-microns/bacteria-meters.”

And correctly identify all the (name removed by moderator)uts. There’s the rub.

Yes. For evolution you would need to measure all mutation causing cosmic rays striking that area of the planet, as well as all details of the environment in that area and all changes to that environment. That is why evolutionary predictions almost always come with caveats. We cannot know all the (name removed by moderator)uts.

Evolution doesn’t say that humans used to be monkeys though. #facepalm

Whether or not you believe in evolution is irrelevant, it happens regardless of what you believe.

Got a little light headed reading that John. Slip in a few periods when you get the chance.

I believe evolution happened; we did come from monkeys, per se, what else?

Monkeys as we know them now did not exist before humans. Humans and monkeys have common ancestors.

And humans are currently apes anyway.

Thank you for being civil.

This website is hit and miss. Lots of creationist and intelligent design conspiracy theorists on here. It can be hard to differentiate.

Not so many really. Stick around, you’ll get to know the gang, each with his own weird outlook and MO.

I’m currently engaged, on another thread, with a guy who’s at various times promoted anti-vax views, anti-evolution views and climate change denialist views. This poster even linked me to their blog which promotes a whole range of conspiracy theories.

I also attempted to voice my opinion on gun violence and the 6th commandment and was shouted down as “a troll”.

Yep. That guy’s our old friend Buffalo. He specialises in referring to papers by evolutionary biologists and asserting they knock holes in evolutionary theory. Great stuff.
