More like the press misstated what Carson stated took place in order to make it look like Carson -]lied/-]… …uh… misstated the truth.

OK, I really haven’t looked at the whole thing in depth. So the mistake is innocent?

I can see where this might actually have happened. I know when I was a junior and I took the PSIA, I was inundated with mail, and there is no way I read it all. I mostly scanned through it all and kept only the stuff that interested me. Most were automatic acceptance letters, though some included offers of scholarships. Now I am nine years Ben Carson’s senior, but I do remember getting such an offer from both West Point and Annapolis, so even the automatic send-outs sent at that time might well have confused and excited teenager. I would expect that if they did such a mailing for the PSIA, they might well do the same thing for top ROTC students.

It didn’t take long. I just googled goofy things that Carson said. The list was quite extensive, so I quoted the first three.

This charge against him is based on a passage in a book of his saying that a general informally said he could get a scholarship. But he never said that went any further.
This thread is based on a hit piece on Carson that fabricated the statement that he applied to West Point.
The person providing this thread really ought to have waited to see what Carson said about this charge, which obviously is fake.
Personally, I don’t think Carson should be president–but really!!

What is obvious is that Carson lied in 3 books and while campaigning. It seems that much of his past is a fabrication. Who is the real Benjamin Carson?

For people who would vote for Hillary, there is no moral case for them to make against anyone lying anymore. It is a hollow criticism to be made by people who have already demonstrated that truth is not one of their values anyway.

As it stands, the basic elements of Carson’s claim stand as an accurate retelling of the event. The OP claims have failed to have been demonstrated.

Hold on here.I believe many posters responding in defense of Dr. Carson ,myself included are doing so,not because he is the “republican darling” as you put it.He is being defended because his record as a stellar example of success,not because of but in spite of the challenges he faced as a youth.He should be held up by people of any political persuasion,as an example of how hard work,perseverance begets success.Instead he is being chastised by some biased reporters who collectively don’t have an IQ to match Dr.Carsons’.Also,as already posted,it is a lie if it is intended to intentionally mislead.Given the facts,it appears that it was clearly a misspeak and misunderstanding .At any rate,if this is the best the lefties can do to derail Dr.Carson,it is more a pathetic reflection on them as it is on him.

I personally have no idea what kind of president that Dr Carson would make, or if he has sound political ideas.
He does however to have the qualities of an admirable human being, and of how the American dream can work for everybody.

As far as I can see, the OP smear against Carson is the lie.
